Chapter 66: Chapter 66

Brody's POV

Alex walked into my office holding two papers on his hands. It was obvious he had seen my resignation letter. "What's the meaning of all these?" He asked and threw the letter on the floor.

"What does it look like I'm doing? I'm definitely handing my position to you." I answered trying to fake a smile which was not worth it.

"I won't accept this, it's not acceptable. You can't just possibly leave this organization, this is your father's company...."

I cut in. "Exactly, it's my father's company and not mine, I want to achieve a lot without anyone's help. I don't want to be ridiculed in future."

"No one's going to make fun of you, it's only right that you become the CEO of this organization after you've managed it for a long period of time."

A slight chuckle escaped my lips. "I didn't manage this company in a satisfactory way, I hardly came to work." I replied.

"What are you going to do after you leave?" He inquired.

"Music, I want to be a musician, it's my talent."

He raised his eyebrows at me. "But I've never heard you sing." He reminded me with a smirk on his face.

"My dad killed that dream and I'm bringing it back to reality, I just need to take the right steps and become a star."

He pulled out a chair and made himself comfortable. "I don't want you to go, I'm so attached to you and that's the main reason why I don't want to lose you. It's going to seriously hurt me." He told me with tears in his eyes.

I definitely understood his pain but I didn't want to rely on my parents wealth to succeed. I wanted to make money without their help. "That's the best thing to do, there's nothing left for me in that family. Dad's probably going to get angry when he finds out that I've submitted my resignation letter but I don't care." I replied.

"You're breaking my heart."

We both laughed and I squeezed his hands gently. "Don't worry, we're still friends."

We heard a knock on the door before the door was slightly pushed open and a young lady walked in. "I saw you mail and decided to come here." She said and Alex stood up.

I turned to look at him. "It's nothing secret or personal, you can stay," I told him with a smile and he sat down.

"I've done my research." She muttered.

"What have you found?"

"I've found a new and beautiful house in France."

I blinked my eyes surprisingly, I wasn't actually thinking of relocating to France. "Which town?"

"Auray, Breton Alre, town, Morbihan département, Bretagne (Brittany) région, northwestern France, on the Auray estuary. It is situated 7.5 miles (12 km) from the Atlantic, southwest of Rennes."

I and Alex exchanged an uneasy glance. "I think I'll skip that, did you find another town?"

"London?" She inquired.

I smiled. "That would be splendid."

"We found a house in Oxford street, it's one of the most famous streets in London for shopping." She replied.

It was a really nice idea to relocate to London with Karen, she would definitely love the idea of living in London. It was splendid and fantastic. "What do you think?" I asked Alex with a grin.

"I've been to Oxford street before in London, This is one of the busiest streets in London because it’s the city’s largest shopping street. The street is about a mile long and is home to every designer and high street shop you can imagine. The street sees approximately half a million tourists daily and it's one of the best places to promote your music." He answered truthfully.

I smiled at him, he was always there for me when I needed him. I was happy to have made someone like him my best friend. "Thanks for encouraging me," I murmured before turning back to the lady. "Alright, meet my receptionist and tell her to direct you to my personal secretary's office. She'll make the payment for the house and fill the necessary documents." I told her.

She smiled and extended hand for a handshake. "Nice doing business with you."

After she had gone, Alex stared at me with a smile. "You're really brilliant and hardworking." He muttered.

I chuckled softly and arranged some files back into the cabinet. "You can always say that again, I want to be a successful musician." I replied with a broad smile on my face.

Karen's POV

"Who was she?" Thomas asked as I rinsed the plates in the kitchen sink.

I turned back and found him staring at me, I didn't even know he was there. "You startled me." I murmured.

He gave me a cold smile. "I'm sorry, I didn't know you would be scared, I was just watching you rinse the plates from the door." He said and I neatly arranged some of the plates on the kitchen shelf.

"You were watching me for a long time?" I asked.

He nodded and leaned on the wall. "You wouldn't blame me, I was really bored and tired."

I chuckled softly and cleaned my hands with a napkin. "Her name is Emily, we started off as friends but she probably got envious and decided to stop contacting me."

"Emily? Sounds like a cute name, why was she envious of you though?" He asked.

"I don't know but I found out that she wished she had gotten the contract to be Brody's fake girlfriend instead of me." I answered with a light smile.

"So she's apologizing to you?"

I nodded and stepped out of the kitchen, he also followed me out of the kitchen and we both sat on the sofa. "What was your response?"

"I've forgiven her but we can never be friends again."

He raised his eyebrows in surprise. "I didn't know you would be tough." He murmured.

"More than tough." I replied.

"You have to leave this house immediately." He suddenly said and my heart skipped a beat.

I narrowed my eyes at him in shock. Why was he telling me to leave my husband's house? "Are you totally insane?" I asked him, annoyed by his statement.

"Look, I know what I'm saying. Brody's father has asked me to take you to the airport, we're leaving for Africa." He answered.

No, this was not happening. "You won't betray me?" I asked slowly and he went silent immediately.
