Chapter 64: Chapter 64

Karen's POV

Breakfast went well, I was surprised that Thomas actually cooked for me even though I didn't know the reason. "Alright, I lied but you don't have to get angry with me if I tell you the truth." He murmured.

"Of course, I won't." I assured him.

"Brody cooked that and it's totally delicious." He said.

A smile plastered on my face. I felt more relieved finding out that it was Brody who cooked breakfast. "That's wonderful, this is the first time that he's cooked for me and I loved it."

"Exactly, I enjoyed mine with ketchup."

"I hate ketchup." I replied

He looked surprised but pleased at my reply. "You should try it out anytime soon, I'm sure you'll love it."

"That's awesome, I'm really glad you liked the food. Brody's going to be so excited when he finds out that you loved his food." He said giggling excitedly like a kid.

I chuckled slightly and watched him take a deep breath before getting up to his feet. "You don't have to tell him anything." I replied.

"He got up from bed early this morning just to prepare this meal for you."

"Us!" I corrected him with a smirk.

His eyes slowly widened in surprise. "He cooked for you and not me."

"You almost ate all the food, you asshole!" I replied as his response sent shivers down my spine.

"I didn't know you loved food so much," He said as he held up his hands as if he was surrounding. "Alright, I'll be going back to the parlour." He added with a smile.

He walked out of my room and I blew out a long breath. His dad walked in almost immediately and looked at me.

I felt a shiver down my spine as I stared back at me. "Have you made a decision?" He asked with a blank expression, he was neither smiling or frowning. He just stared at me with a more serious face.

There was a minute of silence as I thought about his question. "I can't possibly leave Brody, I love him."

He let out a frustrated sigh and sat down. "How about you stay in this house and I'll make your life miserable?"

"I don't care, I just want to stay with my husband." I answered.

Why was he trying to make me sad? He was trying to make my life miserable. "Well, I don't think I even need your decision. Brody's my son and I'm worried about his future. Tomorrow after Brody goes to work, you must leave this house with Thomas, he'll take you to any country that you choose."

I shook my head with tears in my eyes. "Thomas won't take me anywhere, I'm sure that he won't take me out of this house."

A slight chuckle escaped from his lips as he looked at me with a smirk. "That won't take long and don't be too sure of yourself. I'll talk with him and he'll definitely help me out because he also wants to get married to my daughter."

I knew the game he was playing, he was using everyone including his children. "Your children are not your assets or properties."

"Wait, you think they're not my assets," he paused and looked at me. "They're my assets and you should not interfere in this, I'm only doing all these to help my children." He added.

My eyes widened. "I'm going to tell Brody everything." I told him.

He chuckled and let out a grin. "Of course, you can tell him and watch his life get ruined. There's nothing I won't do to save my company and my family name."

What did he mean by that? Was he going to do everything to make sure his company was not ruined? Was he going to endanger Brody's life because of his stupid company?

"Alright, I won't tell Brody and you have to promise you won't hurt him."

He smiled cheekily and walked towards the door. "You're in no place to negotiate." He replied and walked out of the room.

I suddenly felt dizzy but I managed to get up from bed. Sluggishly, I walked out of the room and climbed the stairs. Brody's mom was sitting on the sofa and I quietly sat down. She flipped through the channels and we both didn't talk to each other.

She cleared her throat and dropped the remote on the table. "My husband's giving you a tough time, huh?"

I nodded. "Yes ma'am."

"I'm supposed to support you but I can't, it's just not great. After I found out that your love for my son was based on a stupid contract, I became annoyed and angry with myself for being so dramatic," she paused and placed a pillow on her lap. "I'm also happy for your relationship with my son, it just makes me feel like the best mother in the world because if I didn't force Brody to get married, he would probably not have asked you to sign a relationship contract with him." She went on.

A smile plastered on my face. At least she could understand, why couldn't her husband believe that I'm not a bad person or a gold digger. Things were getting really bad and I didn't even know what to do. "Could you at least talk to my father-in-law? I'm really not a bad person and I don't know why he hates me."

She chuckled. "That was one of the main reasons I didn't tell him about my son's wedding. I made all the arrangements discreetly without informing him but he later found it on a blog and made his way back to this house."

I narrowed my eyes at her. This couldn't still explain the reason why he hated me, I wasn't wrong or bad in any way.

"But why is he angry with me? I didn't do anything bad to him and I'm not a bad influence to your son."

"My husband had already made plans to get him married to another lady who was the CEO of his friend's company. They had both agreed to let their children marry so that the two companies would merge together but I disagreed with him..."

"So what happened?" I asked, interrupting her for a second.

She chuckled softly. "Then Brody found you, I was skeptical about him getting married to you but then, I studied your behavior and found out about your angelic nature," she said and I smiled. "Brody had to marry you to stop my husband's selfish ambition." She added.
