Chapter 63: Chapter 63

Brody's POV

I sat on my desk after a short conversation with one of the board members. Arranging my desk, I found a wedding invitation. "Who's getting married?" I asked myself loudly and checked the name. It was Alex, he was getting married to the love of his life.

The door flung open and Alex walked in with dance steps. "I'm really surprised, you're getting married?"

He nodded with a broad smile on his face and quietly closed the door behind him. "Yeah, next month, I'm getting married to Kate and I can't wait."

My face brightened up with a smile. "I'm really excited for you," I replied genuinely. "But who's Kate?"

He scratched his cheeks. "I didn't tell you about her because she didn't want too much attention. She's exactly like your beautiful wife." He answered.

"I must commend your act, you've dated and broken many hearts."

He giggled excitedly. "That was what I was specialized in before I met Kate."

"I'm also getting remarried to Karen." I replied.

He wasn't even shocked by my statement. He pulled out a chair and sat down. "How's everything at home? I was really surprised when Anna told me you came to work."

I heaved a fake sigh of relief. "Everything's going on smoothly at home, I just wanted to check up on the company's affairs."

"You shouldn't lie to me because we're friends. How did your family react after that stupid announcement?" He asked as his face darkened a bit.

I decided to tell him the truth because he was truly my friend who stood up for me. "They're still angry about it. Only Helen talks to my wife and she's gone back to acting films. Mom's still avoiding my wife and dad's just using the opportunity to make her sad. Thomas's really having fun with her around." I answered.

"Who's Thomas?" He asked with a confused expression.

"My sister's ex husband, they might remarry but he's staying with us for the meantime to take care of Diego."

"You should probably get a tattoo." I advised.

He chuckled softly and handed me a document. "I hate pain, I don't want to go through stress or pain. Kate has a nose ring though."

"Karen has none and I'm pretty excited, I want my wife to look decent and..."

He interrupted. "She's really decent."

"If you need my help with your marriage preparations, don't hesitate to ask me."

He nodded with a smile. "I'll definitely ask you for your help. You should have fun for a while."

"Maybe the opposite of having fun, Dad doesn't like the fact that Karen's in the house, I don't know if he has plans to send her out of the house and that's why I'm being careful and sensitive."

He frowned. "Why doesn't he like Karen? Who won't like her? At first, I thought she was this rude and proud lady but she's actually sweet and loving." He said.

"He feels she's the reason for my music career." I told him.

He blinked his eyes in confusion and looked at me. "You're kidding, right?"

"About what?" I asked back.

"A music career? Last time I checked, your father owns this company and you're the eldest in your family which automatically makes you the heir. You're going to become the CEO of this company if your father dies, you can't possibly leave now."

I chuckled and fiddled with the pen on the table. I knew he wouldn't believe me but I wanted a simple but classic life. Being a musician was not totally easy especially as a billionaire's son but I was willing to take that risk. "I've never been in love with my job, I don't need the money, I just want peace and that's to have fun. Ever since I was young, I had always wanted to go into music but my dad discouraged me," I explained gently.

He ran his hands through his messy hair with a sad look on his face. "Why are you sad? It's not like I'm dying."

He chuckled softly, a laughter that seemed fake. "I'll definitely miss you if you resign from this company, I've been so attached to you."

My face broke out into the biggest grin. "I'll definitely miss you too, I thought I wouldn't have a real friend but you've shown me exactly how real friends behave." I told him with a bright expression on my face.

He raised his eyebrows slightly, and I softened my eyes a bit. "Huh, so who's going to take care of the company?" He asked.

I drew a shaky breath and his brows furrowed. Considering the fact that dad asked Jake to take care of a aspect in this company, it's quite obvious that dad's going to force him to be the CEO of Taylor's Enterprise. "I don't know yet." I lied.

I wasn't trying to raise his hopes high because Alex also worked really hard for the company and he was also my dad's favourite sometimes. I didn't want to also conclude that my father would hand over the CEO's position to my younger brother.

He chuckled, swinging his legs onto his large oak desks resting his hands behind the desk.

"That's awesome, your dad might consider me but believe me, you'll forever be the best CEO in this organization." He murmured

"I don't think so," I replied with a smirk. "I sacked a lot of people before I fell in love, I'm still wondering why I sacked that poor and lonely cleaner that afternoon."

"You didn't understand what love meant until you found Karen. The truth is that you have the highest record of sacking your workers." His eyes were lit with humor as he said those words.

I slanted a look at him and shook my head in disapproval. "I don't think I was being wicked, I just wanted the best for this company. It's not like I'm being possessive or ruthless." I explained gently to him.

He suppressed a smile and flashed me a look. "Ouch," he muttered in a casual tone. "You should go back home and take care of your family and most especially take care of your wife, she's a nice lady." He said.

His remark on my wife made me smile. I released a contented sigh and my heartbeat picked up. "I'll go back home and take care of things." I replied and massaged the muscles in the back of my neck.
