Chapter 62: Chapter 62

Karen's POV

I woke up a little bit early, my body dripping with sweat and I was breathing heavily. I hurriedly got up to open a window. "Morning sunshine," Brody muttered as he walked into the room.

Yawning, I stole a glance at the time. "It's morning already, It was like I didn't even sleep up to an hour."

He chuckled and wore his trousers. "I'm finally going to work after spending the weekend here. Alex's gonna scream when he sees me."

I suppressed a smile and asked. "You hardly go to work?"

"Maybe once in a week or thrice in a month." He answered.

I tutted in disbelief. "Why?" I inquired.

He opened his drawer up and picked an expensive wristwatch. "I don't have passion for making soaps."

I laughed loudly and turned to him briskly. "I can't wait for you to be a musician."

He licked his lips seductively and replied. "I can't wait for the both of us to live alone."

Yeah but it seemed that his wish would get shattered because of his dad. The thoughts of yesterday brought me back to reality, Brody's father wanted me to leave his house and never come back.

The love I had for Brody was initially not going to make me do that but considering the fact that his father had cancer, it could be his last wish and I didn't want to disobey him.

"Lost in your thoughts again?" He asked, jerking me back to reality.

"Of course not," I answered, admitting no such thing. "Where's Helen?" I asked him.

He looked at me with a frustrated sigh. "She won't be coming back home for now, she needs to complete her film quickly."

I narrowed my eyes at him. "Are they going to rush the movie?"

"Yeah, I guess so,"

My face darkened a bit, the house would be boring without Brody and Helen. "If you're less busy or bored, Thomas's around." He added.

"I can't possibly disturb him." I murmured with a groan.

He chuckled softly. "You're not disturbing him, you're just spending some time with him. Mom would be taking Diego out for shopping later so he won't be around." He replied.

"Are you really going to leave me in this big mansion? I don't want you to go to your office." I added, changing the topic.

He winked at me before placing a kiss on my forehead. "I'm also going to miss you but I won't stay long at work."

I nodded and watched him leave the room as tears rolled down my cheeks.

The flashbacks of yesterday's event refreshed my memory.

Flashback

I paused and looked at him. What did he want me to help him with? What was he up to? "Huh, I don't know...."

"I've been diagnosed with cancer and I have a few months to live, I want you to leave my son and never come back, I want you to go far away from him. He'll never find you in Africa if you decide to go there." He replied.

My heart skipped a beat as I stared at him in shock. How could he not want his son's progress? I was in a position where I couldn't even think for myself.

He snapped his fingers, bringing me back to reality. "Lost in thoughts, Karen?" He asked. "I don't think you need to be told but you can't find love in my family."

A whimper escaped my throat. "I can't leave Brody, I'm in love with your son."

He chuckled and slumped down on the sofa. "Now, that was blunt." He muttered.

"It's the truth." I replied, almost immediately.

"I don't know but there's no way I'm letting you stay in my son's life."

He obviously hated me and he wasn't even denying it or pretending. "Brody's my life."

"If you go to an African country, I'm sure he won't even look for you. He doesn't love you and that's the truth."

I just couldn't seem to believe him and leave Brody because of a stupid and foolish conversation. "We shouldn't be having this conversation." I told him.

"Are you actually interested in spoiling my son's life?"

"I'm not a stupid and weak person, sir." I answered bluntly because he was beginning to take me for a fool.

"Brody has never complained about my opinions but since you entered into his life, everything changed. He wants to become a musician when he can always become the CEO of my company."

I cleared my throat and stared at the old man. "I didn't tell him to join music, he's only pursuing his dream."

His father smiled and let out a slight chuckle. "What dream?" He inquired. "Singing on stage, going live on Instagram and singing to fans while he can sit in his office or stay at home and make money."

Ignoring him, I walked towards the stairs. "You only have one day to make a decision and I hope you'll choose wisely." He added.

End of Flashback

Taking off my clothes, I walked into the shower and turned on the water. The water started off cold but quickly turned warm making me sigh.

After I scrubbed myself with my body wash, I rinsed off and grabbed my towel. I quickly dried off and wrapped the towel around my waist.

Pulling out a blue shirt gown, I got dressed quickly before falling face first on the bed. "Boring house.....boring people." I muttered with a frustrated sigh.

As soon as Brody left the house, I knew my entire day would be boring, there was absolutely no one to talk with except Thomas and I wasn't ready to give it a shot.

If Brody's father found me talking to Thomas, he might bring up false allegations that I was cheating on my husband and I wasn't ready to jeopardize my life.

Thomas pushed the door open and walked in, I was surprised to see him in my room. "What are you doing here?" I asked him.

He was holding a tray on his hands which he dropped on the bed with a broad smile on his face. "I came to check up on you." He answered.

I bit my lips uncertainly and looked at the tray he held. "You're holding a tray and I can clearly see a plate on top, what did you cook?"

He sighed. "Alright, I prepared this meal for you."

Nah, Thomas didn't just cook for me, did he?
