Chapter 61: Chapter 61
Karen's POV
Helen was sitting down on the sofa when I walked into the parlor. I didn't know if it was the best time to have a conversation with her but I decided to meet her. "Hi Helen," I said with a smile.
She looked at me before concentrating on her phone. "Huh, I'm really sorry for everything that has happened. I didn't know how to tell you at first, I was really confused, I didn't want you to get angry if I told you it was a contract."
"I'm making a promo film trailer for my project, can you please leave?"
I knelt down and sat near her. "I'm sure you're not really angry with me because you're an actress and you should know about my situation."
"Contract marriages?" She asked and we chuckled.
"Yeah, relationship contracts."
She smiled and helped me get up, I sat down near her and stared at her film trailer. "Can you guess what I'm doing right now?" She asked.
"A film trailer?"
"You just gave me an idea for my project and I'm sure my film director is going to love my new idea. I'm so excited, I didn't know I would be able to get a new idea for a film."
"What idea?" I asked even though I was happy for her new idea.
She cleared her throat. "Let's just say I'm going to become one of the most famous actresses this year because of my new project."
I nodded with a smile. "Are you still angry with me?" I asked her.
She stood up and walked to the window avoiding my crazy. "You should watch Thomas and Brody swim, it's really sad Thomas is not muscular even though he has a big......." Her voice trailed off and we laughed. "I'm sure you understand what I mean." She added.
Of course, she was such a naughty and bad sister-in-law. "You can always keep Diego in my room whenever you want to have fun with Thomas."
She giggled excitedly. "Nah, we won't be comfortable. I and Thomas are planning on going to a hotel tonight, he promised he would be gentle on me."
"That's fantastic."
"You've forgiven me right?" I asked her and she nodded.
"Yeah, I have two questions for you."
"Feel free to ask me any question." I asked, trying not to sound too bored.
"Are you in love with my brother?"
My face suddenly brightened and I smiled at her. The image of Brody filled my head and I chuckled. "I'm in love with Brody, I just can't help myself whenever I'm with him."
She blew out an exasperated sigh and stared at me, I didn't know what was going through her mind. I wished I was a mind reader or had a mind reading app on my phone.
"How can you wake up with someone you don't love and not feel slightly fazed by it?" She asked.
She nodded and walked towards the door of her room. "I'll be going out today." She replied and walked into her room.
Picking up the remote, I heard Thomas's voice behind me. "Hi Karen, I'm Thomas." He reintroduced himself to me and sat on the other sofa.
"Doubting Thomas?" I asked and he chuckled.
"Nah, I just wanted to reintroduce myself to you." He stated, a a little fake sarcastic amusement drawn across his face.
"I'm Karen, Brody's wife."
He chuckled and snatched the remote from my hand. "You're beautiful." He commended and flipped through the channels.
"Thanks, Helen's in her room."
There was a minute of silence and I just stared at him. "I'm here for you." He finally blurted out and waited for a reaction.
My eyes widened. "I don't understand."
He chuckled softly. "It actually depends on what you thought I meant. I'm here to see you."
I shrugged. "Ohhh," I murmured, a little dazzled. "Thanks for the flowers." I quickly added.
"I was shy to give you so I had to drop it on your bed even though I gave everyone except Brody's dad."
"You gave the maids?" I asked with a glint of humor in my eyes.
He smiled. "Of course not, I thought you would be annoyed with me." He said folding his arms.
"I'm not," I replied and he smiled cheekily. "Thank goodness, I was beginning to think that...."
I interrupted. "Well, I thought you were rude but....." I paused and drew a deep breath. "But you turned out to be a nice person."
His lips curved in a taunting smile. "Thanks Karen, I'm glad you're not annoyed with me." He replied as his fave lit up shyly.
"Where's Brody?"
"Still playing in the pool," he replied. "It's getting dark, I'll just go upstairs and take a nap." He answered and disappeared up the stairs.
I moved towards the window and found Brody in the pool, he was holding a bottle of beer and a glass was placed on the edge of the pool. "Looking happy to see your husband." Brody's father said from behind me and I turned back to face him.
"I was huh....staring at the pool." I lied.
He chuckled and sat down. "Sincerely, you're a beautiful and intelligent lady."
My heart skipped a beat, I didn't know why he was trying to have a conversation with me when he knew about the contract. "Thank you sir." I appreciated his kind words which sent a shiver down my spine.
"Your parents, where do they stay?"
"Los Angeles."
He scratched his cheeks. "Wow, that's fantastic. I'm sure they live in Nevin, a neighborhood in South Los Angeles, California,"
I ignored him and made an effort to walk towards the door. "I have something to ask you and I want you to help me." He requested.
I paused and looked at him. What did he want me to help him with? What was he up to? "Huh, I don't know...."
"I've been diagnosed with cancer and I have a few months to live, I want you to leave my son and never come back, I want you to go far away from him. He'll never find you in Africa if you decide to go there." He replied.
