Chapter 60: Chapter 60

Brody's POV

We all sat at the dining table ignoring one another. No one said a word and I squeezed Karen's hands reassuringly.

"Good morning," Helen greeted and paused when she saw Karen. She took her plate and walked into her room. I knew she didn't want to eat on the same table with my wife.

I didn't want Karen to feel bad but it was like she already did. She dropped her fork and stood up. "You shouldn't get annoyed unnecessarily." My dad told her.

She ignored him and walked out of the house. "You shouldn't have said a word to her." I said.

He dropped the fork on the table obviously annoyed by my statement. "Both of you were wrong and you should admit it. You lied to all of us and we can't forgive you." He replied and stood up.

"I've lost my appetite." I also dropped my fork on the dining table and walked out of the house.

Karen was sitting alone near the pool when I found her. "Do you swim?" She asked slowly.

"Of course but I've stopped for a long time."

She scratched her cheeks and I sat near her. "Helen's avoiding me and I'm really sad. It's like everyone suddenly hates me."

"You don't have to be worried, I'm sure they would understand. They just need time to accept our love."

She heaved a sigh of relief. "You're right. I'm really excited that you want to go into music."

A smile plastered on my face and I yawned. "Yeah, I've composed many songs that I would want to release as soon as I sign the contract with Jack's record label." I replied.

I ran my hands through my hair and we both stared at each other. "I don't want to lose you, I'm so scared." She finally said after a minute of silence.

"You won't lose me, I'm here for you all the time." I reassured her with a bright smile.

"Any news about Bill?" She asked.

I nodded. "He was arrested yesterday night by the cops, there's a possibility that he would be sent to a psychiatric hospital."

"Why? I don't think he's mad."

"Well, if Joanne and his children testifies against him in court, he might be transferred to a psychiatric hospital." I explained gently as her lush lips quivered slightly.

"He had to say the truth, we couldn't keep on lying to the public," She told me and showed me her phone. My eyes widened as I saw the number of tweets on the Twitter #contract. "It's been trending on Twitter for the past 6 hours, it's getting close to 1million tweets."

I cringed when I looked at her phone and saw the number of tweets again. "What the fuck is wrong with the people tweeting about this?"

She chuckled softly. "They are discouraging relationship contracts and some tweets criticized you."

I narrowed my eyes at her in shock. "Criticizing me? How?"

"They're kinda right, you didn't really stand up for me."

I frowned and snatched the phone from her hand. "You shouldn't check your phone for now, you're just going to hate me." I replied and switched off her phone.

She chuckled and stood up. "Let's get married again." She suggested.

"Do you think that would be a good idea?"

She shot me an offended look and pushed a strand of her hair to the back. "I don't know. I should go back to the house and check up on your sister." She answered with a sigh.

"Alright, you should find a way to talk with her or maybe Diego." I replied.

She smiled at me before walking back into the house. Someone jumped into the pool from behind me and I recognized the person to be Thomas, he was shirtless which exposed his slim body. He swam to the other side of the pool. "Brody," he called out loudly. "Why don't we have a swimming competition right here and right now."

"I don't think I want to swim right now." I replied in a loud voice.

He swam towards my side and splashed the cold water on me before coming out of the pool. "You should chill man, it's not your fault and I totally understand you."

I shook my head. "I don't think you do. I'm sure you've seen the tweets on Twitter."

He nodded. "Yeah, some motherfuckers bashed you badly in the comments section of some tweets." He murmured.

"And my family? They're ignoring Karen, they don't even want to talk to her. I was the one who made her sign the contract."

"Why would you sign a contract with a therapist?"

I chuckled. "Sounds crazy, right? I actually thought my secret would be safe with him but I didn't know he would be the stupid person that would betray me." I answered with a frustrated sigh.

"Maybe," he paused and looked at me trying to suppress a smile. "It absolutely sounds more like stupid." He insulted and I nudged him with an elbow.

"Look, things happened really fast. My mom was already in town and she wanted to see my girlfriend, I didn't have any so I decided to seek help from my therapist. The idiot introduced Karen to me and we ended up getting married."

Thomas's eyes widened with mixed expressions. "Now, that was fast!"

I suppressed a smile and stood up. "It was really fast, I didn't even know I'd develop feelings for Karen. It was just a stupid contract but it helped me find my soulmate."

He finally giggled excitedly and placed a hand on my shoulder. "I love the both of you, it's true love and not lust."

"How's Karen? She's avoiding me also."

He grinned. "She's still upset with Karen and Diego even....."

I interrupted. "Diego? Why is she upset with him?" I inquired, anxiously.

"He informed her that he knew about the contract earlier but she's angry that he hid the truth from her."

I jumped into the pool and swam to the other side. "It seems like I'm ready for your challenge." I said.

He giggled excitedly and jumped into the pool swimming towards me. "Breaststroke style?" He asked as soon as he got to my side of the pool.

I shook my head. "Butterfly stroke would be more fun." I answered with a genuine smile.
