Chapter 58: Chapter 58
Karen's POV
The party had started already and I could hear people's screams and laughter from outside. I looked at my face in the mirror for the last time and smiled. I stepped down the stairs of my house, wearing my crimson red dress.
"Gorgeous, my Queen." Brody commented as the crowd danced to the music.
"Thanks, my King." I replied and we walked side by side to the dance floor.
"Last time I checked, you were a bad dancer. I don't know if you have improved because I don't want to save you from falling."
I chuckled softly and squeezed his hands reassuringly. "I won't fall, I just want to give it a second trial." I told him.
He nodded and held my hand. "I don't feel like dancing today." He replied and climbed the stairs.
"I thought you guys wanted to dance." Helen said as she stood in front of me.
I nodded and scanned through the guests worriedly, I didn't want Bill to come. "Yeah, he changed his mind and I didn't want to get embarrassed either." I replied.
Sarah walked towards us and I smiled at her. She was the woman who tricked me into believing that Brody was not in love with me. How could I have fallen for her stupid tricks.
"Having fun?" She suddenly asked as she shot me an offended look. "Why did you come back?" She asked.
"C'mon girls, what's going on here?" Helen asked.
"Helen, can you excuse us for a while?" Sarah pleaded.
She left hurriedly still surprised at what was happening. "Yeah, I'm back. I discovered the truth, I later found out that Brody was in love with me." I replied.
"He's in love with me and not you." She said as she folded her arms.
"He hasn't spoken about you to me. I don't think he even knows you again."
Her eyes darkened and she looked at me with a frown on her face. "He doesn't love you, he's just using you."
I chuckled softly. "I don't think I'll fall for your stupid tricks again."
She hurriedly left as soon as the music started. I looked towards the stairs and found Brody staring at me. When he came down the steps at last, the tanned skin was drawn unusually tight on his face, and his eyes were bright and tired.
"I think I saw Bill, he was right behind you."
I shrugged and we went out of the hall. "I don't think he's in the party, do you?"
"I really don't think he would come here. Maybe I'm just imagining things or I'm just crazy and stupid."
"Hey Brody," A man said behind us and I recognized his voice. It was definitely Michael who almost raped me.
"What's he doing here?" I asked Brody in a soft tone.
Brody grimaced. "You don't have to worry, he's sorry for everything he's done." He answered.
"Hey bro,” Michael said, coming over to give him a handshake.
"How’s it going? Are you likin’ the party?” Brody asked him.
He nodded. “Very much. I am delighted to have been invited to attend,” He answered and turned to look at me, I avoided his gaze with a frown.
"I'm sorry for being a jerk, I'm really sorry, Karen." He apologized.
Was he really sorry or it was just one of his stupid pranks? I smiled at him and nodded. "You're forgiven."
He giggled excitedly and shoved a beer in front of my face. “Hey, drink it. You need it more than anyone here." He advised hilariously.
Brody smiled and reluctantly took the beer from him gulping down its content.
"What did Jackson say? Did he like my music?" Brody asked and my eyes widened.
"Music?" I was surprised.
He nodded and pulled me close to his side. "Yes, I'm planning on becoming a musician and I hope you would support me."
I smiled. That would be lovely, I just couldn't wait for Brody to become a musician even though I was worried. What would his dad say? How would his family react? I already knew it would be a bummer.
"He loved your song and he's willing to sign you into his record label if you relocate to another country."
I frowned. Could Brody stay without his family? They would be worried and I didn't want that to happen. "Is there any specific reason for that?" Brody asked him.
"He feels that your family might be an hindrance to your success."
Brody nodded. "Yeah, I guess so," he turned to look at me. "Which country should we relocate to?"
I shrugged and managed to fake a smile at him. "Can you stay without your family?" I asked him.
He nodded with a smile. "I have to be independent, I'm sure I can live without them and they would be happy for me."
"I'll follow you to the country of your choice." I replied and he placed a kiss on my forehead.
"Yeah, I'm willing to sign under his record label and make my first music. I have composed seven songs already and I'm sure I'll be the latest musician."
Micheal nodded and winked at him. "I don't know what those bloggers would caption but expect a bummer."
I chuckled and made an example of the caption they might use. "Billionaire's son begins music due to bankruptcy in his company."
They all laughed and Michael shook hands with Brody again before heading back into the hall. "I'm definitely going to be a young star."
Suddenly my eyes found Bill walking towards us. "Bill is coming, you were right." I told him and pointed in his direction.
Bill stopped in front of us with a smirk on his face. "How did you get into the party?" Brody asked him with a deep and loud voice.
He laughed and looked at me. "My lady, I'm glad we finally meet again." He was wearing a blue suit this time with a black trousers and he was looking absolutely neat.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him.
"I was expecting you to close the contract in my office but you didn't come." He answered.
"In your office?" Brody asked with a slow chuckle. "The cops are looking for you and it's only a matter of time before they catch you."
"I'm here to expose you."
I chuckled. "You won't possibly do that," I replied.
"We can settle this amicably, you don't have to do this." Brody told him.
He chuckled softly and blew a kiss at me. "What were you thinking? Did you actually think that your marriage would end happily?"
Tears rolled down my cheeks. "Bill," I called out in a weak tone. "Please don't do this." I pleaded, my face went pale.
"You should have thought about this before falling in love with each other." He replied and snatched a mic from the musicians. He looked at us before making his stupid announcement. "Everyone, I have an announcement to make."
