Chapter 56: Chapter 56
Brody's POV
I sat up on my bed and looked at the time. Ten o'clock in the morning, how did I sleep for so long? I was still feeling sleepy but I managed to get up. Karen walked into the room with a smile on her face. "You're in a good mood today."
She frowned and removed her top. "Believe me, I'm not in a good mood. I hate parties now, I didn't know the guests would be much."
I chuckled. "So that smile on your face was fake?" I asked her with a grin.
She gave me a crooked smile. "Absolutely fake."
"Why didn't you wake me up this morning?" I asked her as I removed my shirt.
She wore a short gown and looked at herself in the mirror. "Yesterday night was fun, I didn't want to disturb you besides you bought clothes for me when we went for shopping."
I looked at her with a casual smile as she glanced around her. "What are you looking for?"
"Huh, my phone." She answered.
I offered quickly. "I can help you with that."
"No, don't bother, I'll just look for it. The family's making arrangements for the party downstairs and I need to join them."
I heard a woman's loud voice from downstairs and chuckled softly. "Aunt Patricia is here, right?" I asked her gently.
She nodded swiftly. "I wish the devil was here instead of her. I don't even see any difference, she doesn't still like me."
I removed my boxers and let out a little sigh. "You can't really blame her, can you?"
She looked at me upset with my remark and I swept past her, my head held high. "What did you mean by that?" She asked as I stood in front of the bathroom.
I slowly turned to face her. "You can't expect everyone to like you. It's the same for every human."
"Like your dad?" She suddenly asked as I tied a towel around my waist.
"He's just being paranoid."
"No, he's not." She replied, looking at me firmly in the eye.
I countered with a frown. "Well, maybe he's not. He'll later like you, I just need you to trust me and believe in me." I told her.
She sat on the bed and bit her lips uncertainly. "It was the same way your mother hated me when I came into this house."
I tried to reassure her but my efforts was almost useless. "I'll stand by you and support you. We can't stay here forever, it's my family house and not my house. I don't want us to go back to the other house we stayed when we got married. I want us to....."
Our conversation was interrupted with a knock on the door and I ran into the bathroom and slammed the door.
It didn't take long for me to bathe, I walked out of the bathroom and quickly wore clean shorts.
Abs, I've got them....
Abs, I've got them...
I sang as I wore a black shirt and looked at myself in the mirror. "Handsome! Absolutely handsome!" I muttered and sprayed a perfume on my shirt.
Opening the door, I walked down the stairs.
Karen's POV
I watered the flowers in the vase and kept the watering can behind the door. "Gardener?" I heard a familiar masculine voice shout and I chuckled. Brody was trying to make fun of me again.
He wrapped his hands around my waist. "Don't you like your new name? It fits you right, I love how you watered the flowers." Brody admitted and tightened his grip around my waist.
"I'm not a Gardener, I was only watering the flowers because they look sick."
I raised my hands up and ruffled his hair affectionately. He released his tight grip on my waist and sat on the sofa. "Why don't I make you wet instead?" He asked.
My face lit up shyly. "The last time you made a girl wet, she ended up getting dried in seconds." I cracked a dry joke.
"Are you that girl?" He asked with muffled laughter.
"Who dropped this on the floor?" I asked as I picked a dead flower on the floor.
He snatched it from my hand and kept it on the table. "Thomas apologized to me yesterday and he gave me that."
A gasp escaped my lips as I stared at him shocked. Why would he give him a flower? "He gave everyone a flower too, why do you think he's planning?"
"He wants to start a new life with Helen but he doesn't know if she wants him back in her life." He revealed.
I glanced around to be sure no one was listening to our conversation. "Your sister also wants to give him a second chance but she's skeptical about it."
"Are you going to watch a movie with me?"
It sounded like a great idea but I just didn't want to stay in the parlor and watching a movie with Brody was not an option.
I snatched the remote from his hands and dropped it far from him. "Come outside, we have a lot of work to do. My makeup artist would be here soon and I want to look like a movie star."
Everyone was already helping out in the preparation of the party and I didn't want to look like a lazy lady. "You're beautiful already and I don't think you need more evidence."
He smiled charmingly at me and I winked at me, our conversation was interrupted by Aunt Patricia. "Karen, can I have a word with you,"
I nodded and followed her out of the house. We stopped when we reached her car. "I just want to apologise to you, I didn't know you were a good person."
I tried so hard to stop myself from smiling but I just couldn't. My face brightened with a smile as she opened the door of her car and brought out a shopping bag.
"Aunt Patricia, I've forgiven you and I'm so happy that you finally admitted that I was a good person."
She chuckled softly and handed me the bag. I took it from her and held it with care.
"There's nothing fragile in the bag so you don't have to handle it with care. I'm also excited that you've finally forgiven me." She replied.
