Chapter 54: Chapter 54
Brody's POV
Opening the door of my dad's room, I found almost all my family relatives outside the room, it was obvious they were eavesdropping on our conversation. Helen smiled at me as I walked towards her. I hugged her immediately and she giggled excitedly.
I could feel her happiness and freedom from her expression. "I've missed you a lot." She said, releasing herself from my grip.
"I've also missed you, I'm sorry I didn't tell anyone before going to Los Angeles."
She frowned and pinched me. "What actually happened? You didn't even bother to call us, we were all worried."
"I'm sorry, I and Helen went for a honeymoon." I lied and she nodded.
We both walked into the room and Karen's face brightened when she saw Helen, the both of them hugged each other and sat on the bed. I smiled as I saw the both of them together.
"I'll leave the both of you to talk." I said and walked out of the room. I heaved a sigh of relief before climbing down the stairs. I was surprised to meet Alex in the parlor watching a movie. "Hey Alex,"
He ignored me and flipped through the TV channels. "What's wrong? You don't look too happy."
He finally looked at me with a frown. "I should be mad at you. How could you go to Los Angeles without telling me? I was damn worried, your father came to the organisation and threatened to sack everyone."
I chuckled and sat on the floor. My father was worse than me, he was always in a bad mood even though he smiled sometimes to look happy. "That's terrible."
"You're actually better than your dad." he whispered to me.
Diego came out of his room and Alex hugged him and carried him on his lap. "Both of you are friends now?" I asked him with a surprised but pleased expression.
"I guess so. He's a nice kid and I love him." He answered.
I could vividly remember when Alex left my house because of Diego. "I actually thought you hated kids."
"They're stubborn, I don't want kids."
"Not all though."
"Most of them."
"What really happened in Los Angeles?"
"Honeymoon."
He nudged me with an elbow and instructed Diego to go back into his room. "Are you really going to lie to me?" He asked curiously.
"Alright, I went to look for Karen, she didn't know I was in love with her and she went to Los Angeles to live with her mom."
He giggled excitedly and placed his head on my shoulder. "So what happened? How did you find her?"
"It's a long story." I replied and stood up. I walked towards the other sofa and sat down. He frowned at me and I knew he was offended.
"I just wanted to stay close to my friend, I didn't know you would react that way."
I chuckled and threw a pillow at him, he caught it and held it close to his heart. "My dad's really annoyed right now, I don't want him to come and meet us in that position. He might think it's something else and I don't want that."
He kept the pillow on his lap and nodded. "You're definitely right, I don't want him to sack me."
"How's your girlfriend?" I asked him, changing the topic.
"I'm going over to her parent's house this weekend, I'm anxious and scared at the same time." He answered with a broad smile.
I sighed. "Yeah, I totally understand that feeling. I wasn't really anxious and shy but Karen's parents loved me, especially her mother." I told him.
He smiled at me and stood up. "You're extremely right, I don't have to be anxious, nervous or shy. I'll just be myself." He replied.
Karen's POV
"Oh my God, I've missed you a lot." I said as I brushed my hair.
"I don't think you did. How could you not tell me that you and Brody were going for a honeymoon."
I faked a smile. "Maybe he didn't want to talk, I can't blame him."
"No, you should have told me. It would have been more fun if you told me, I was really worried when I couldn't find you guys. Mom was absolutely worried when you were not around." She replied.
"And Aunt Patricia?"
We laughed and she played rap music on her phone. "Aunt Patricia has never liked you. She's just pretending to be nice and sweet to Brody."
Why did she hate me?
"How about you? I was shocked when I heard the news about your baby's death."
She nodded and scratched her cheeks "Surprisingly, I don't care about getting pregnant again and I don't want to have a large family."
"Thomas is a very handsome and nice man, I'm sure you're in love with him."
She smiled at me, a genuine smile that temporarily eased the tired lines on her face. "I know but I don't know if I want to give him a second chance, Diego also wants him to be in our family and I'm really confused about that."
I squeezed her hands gently. "You should follow your heart, if you want to get married to Thomas again, it would be alright because I'm personally going to be your bridesmaid, makeup artist and fashion designer."
She laughed and laid on the bed. "I can't wait for you to get pregnant."
"I haven't really thought about a family even though I and Brody joke about it a lot. I don't think I need a family. I don't know what I'll do if I get pregnant."
"You'll definitely get excited and I'm sure everyone is going to be really excited. We need another Brody in our family, someone who's stubborn and intelligent."
"I don't want my child to be stubborn."
She stood up and looked at herself in the mirror. "I'm definitely going to think about giving Thomas a second chance. He's proven to be responsible and my parents like him already."
"Did they hate him before?" I asked her.
"I don't know but considering the fact that he cheated twice when we were married already....."
I interrupted. "Thomas cheated?"
"He wasn't a saint." She replied.
