Chapter 89: Chapter 89
Renata had just pressed her butt against the passenger seat, but the cell phone she had placed in her pocket was already vibrating. The woman chuckled in annoyance. She had distinguished the notification sound before. It made Renata already know who the person who had contacted her was.
The woman ignored the call from that person and preferred to take the bottle of drink in front of her. She then gulped it down.
A warning to turn off the cell phone power was heard. Renata immediately turned off the data network on her cellphone and made it into airplane mode. Then she put her cellphone into the black sling bag she was carrying. Renata would use the seventeen hours of this trip to rest, without being disturbed by the man's annoying calls and terror. At least Renata could free herself from fear until she actually faced the man.
Renata really made good use of her rest. She fell asleep just as the plane was about to land. Fortunately, a flight attendant woke her up. Renata stretched her body which felt stiff. She began to prepare herself to get off the plane. She started to check her luggage, especially her wallet and cell phone so she wouldn't be left behind. After everything was ready, Renata sat quietly until the flight attendant directed her to get off.
Renata put on her thick coat. The cold air in Germany managed to pierce into her skin, even the cold felt to the bone. Renata got off the plane carefully. The wind blew away some of Renata's hair.
This was the first time she had traveled abroad with a sense of uncertainty. A flight she didn't want. A destination she didn't expect.
Renata picked up her suitcase and pulled it out of the airport. She waved her hand to stop the taxi. Her current destination was one of the hotels in the center of the city that she had booked. The price of the hotel was quite high, but Renata did choose such a place for her safety.
A taxi stopped in front of Renata. The woman was helped by the taxi driver to put her large suitcase into the trunk of the car. After that, Renata got into the back passenger seat.
She immediately put on the seat belt. And put her sling bag on the side. She wasn't planning to open her cell phone yet.
The driver got into the car and asked about Renata's destination in thick German. It seemed that the middle-aged man still didn't realize that Renata was a tourist. Renata answered in German as best she could where she was going.
After that, Renata lay down on the back of the car seat with her eyes thrown out. At a time like this, Renata hoped that the highway conditions were congested so that she still had time to make excuses why she could not be contacted by the man.
The trees and tall buildings that lined up outside were running very fast. At exactly midnight Renata arrived in the country. She wasn't even sleepy because she had rested too long while traveling.
The trees that she saw running slowly stopped. Renata turned her face forward. She saw a red traffic light flashing. Making the taxi driver stop his four-wheeled vehicle.
This traffic light is also a sign for Renata that the location of the hotel where she lives is close. The woman began to prepare to take out several bills from her wallet. Then she made sure her bag and wallet were closed properly. When the taxi arrived in front of the hotel, Renata immediately took off her seat belt.
She got out of there along with the taxi driver who got out to help unload Renata's large suitcase.
Renata stood beside the car. Waiting for her suitcase to be unloaded.
"Here's your suitcase, Miss," said the taxi driver as he handed Renata the large suitcase.
Renata gave him the few bills she had prepared to pay for the taxi. She deliberately paid more than the meter written on the taxi. Making the taxi driver feel happy.
"Thank you."
Renata pulled her suitcase into the hotel. She exhaled a long breath. Making smoke billow in front of her mouth.
The woman had traveled a long way just to give this fifty billion to the man. Renata continued her footsteps into the hotel. Visiting the reception desk to get the room key, she walked towards the elevator. Renata raised her hand and pressed the up button. The floor where the room she booked was located.
Renata entered the metal box when the door opened. She pulled her suitcase inside. Pressed button three and waited for the elevator doors to close again.
She reached for the flat object she had put in her sling bag. She intended to activate it now, but the other side of her heart felt heavy.
Ting
The sound of the elevator doors opening. Making Renata look up to see the number up there.
The number three. Renata already held the handle of her suitcase intending to get out of there. When the elevator door opened, Renata immediately swung her legs out of the iron box.
Renata searched for the room number she had booked. It didn't take long for her to find it. She immediately took out the hotel room key in the form of a card and attached it to the sensor lock on the knob.
The door opened, Renata immediately pushed it wide open. Then she pulled her big suitcase inside.
"Hah, I can finally lie down!" exclaimed Renata as she took off her suitcase and threw herself onto the soft hotel bed.
Renata let herself stay on the mattress for a few minutes. Before she finally decided to get up from her bed. Grabbed her cell phone and sat on the edge of the bed.
Her thumb pressed the power button on the side of the flat object for a long time until the phone screen lit up. Without realizing it, Renata bit her lower lip like she was scared.
Her thumbs again moved to disable the airplane mode on her phone. The flat object managed to get the data network again. Dozens of incoming notifications attacked Renata's device. Renata let her cell phone continue to vibrate along with the notifications that kept coming in. She could already guess that most of the notifications came from the same person.
When her cell phone started to stop ringing and vibrating, Renata immediately checked the incoming messages in the message box. Sure enough, dozens of messages from the same number.
There were so many questions in her message box. Renata sighed heavily as she typed a few sentences to reply to the man's message.
'I've arrived in Germany. When will you take the fifty billion.'
Renata sent the message to the man. Then she closed her eyes and clenched her fists. Renata hated being helpless like this. She hated having to follow someone's wishes without being able to argue with them.
She hated being weak. Then she opened her eyelids. Renata put her cell phone on the nightstand. Then she opened her suitcase and took out a few changes of clothes.
Renata intended to take a warm bath and change before deciding to sleep. Just as she was about to enter the bathroom, her cell phone rang again. Without intending to pick it up, Renata just walked into the bathroom and completed her wish.
Renata came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her. She immediately picked up the cell phone that was on the bed. Right at that moment, a phone call from the man came in. Making Renata finally forced to pick it up.
"Where are you staying tonight?"
Getting that question from the person on the other side made Renata chuckle in annoyance. "Can't you just stop there. I was already in Germany and brought the money, isn't that enough? Stop chasing me like this."
Renata clenched her fists. She was even willing to lie to Melvin about the money she asked for and her trip to Germany just for the sake of the man who was now laughing crisply.
Renata hated that laugh.
" I just need one proof that you didn't lie to me, that's all," the man replied casually.
Renata closed her eyes, her teeth chattering. She had to restrain herself from swearing and cursing at the man right now.
"I haven't eaten at all, I just arrived from this long journey. Do you still have the heart to let me rest tonight?" satirized Renata.
She could no longer stand the arbitrary attitude of the man on the other end. Plus she couldn't refuse his orders.
"Oh, okay, fine. Have a good rest Miss Renata. I'll call you again tomorrow to ask for my money. Good night."
After the man on the other end said that, Renata immediately turned off the call connection. "Argh!" shouted Renata while throwing her cell phone on the bed. She was really not in a good state at the moment.
