Chapter 67: Chapter 67
Jagad happened to be in the hospital, so he was suddenly asked to handle a patient who had just come to the emergency room. Handling the patient took a long time.
Jagad asked Davina to go home first. However, Davina didn't go home immediately, she chose to wait for her brother in his room.
Jagad, who was exhausted after handling the patient, was surprised to see his sister in the room waiting for him.
"Are you ready?" asked Davina when the man appeared from behind the door.
Jagad nodded in response. With shaky steps he walked behind his desk.
Ever since Danas went home with Melvin's family, Davina, who had not yet left the hospital, had been quietly watching her brother. Not just this time, all this time she could see how Jagad treated Danas and paid attention to his best friend.
Davina was happy, of course, to see the two people she cared about together. It's just that the wall between them is very difficult to break through.
At first Davina was just happy to know that her brother and best friend were getting close, even if Danas' status was unmarried, Davina was obviously very supportive of her brother being with Danas. Davina will be a passenger on the ship, will fight for it to dock, and refuse to sink.
However, we feel sad instead. Sad to see that her brother can only restrain himself from crossing the line. Besides Danas being someone's wife, the problem was... Danas is the wife of his own best friend. Or at the moment it can still be called a friend. Davina didn't know exactly how Jagad and Melvin's relationship was anymore. Ever since Jagad found out that Melvin made Danas and Renata live under the same roof, Jagad immediately protested and got angry at Melvin.
There was no way the incident could have ended well without an argument.
"Dav, why aren't you home yet?" Jagad asked, breaking the silence.
Davina turned to her brother, getting down from the table she was sitting on. There was a chair, but she chose to sit on Jagad's desk.
"Wait for Jagad to come home too. I can't bear to leave you alone here," Davina said pretentiously.
Jagad chuckled at Davina's words. "What's wrong with me that you can't bear to leave me alone?"
"I don't know. I just feel bad going home alone."
Jagad's face, which had looked sad, now showed a smile.
"There are still things I need to do. " Jagad glanced at his watch, seeing that the hands were already showing the time that was usually his home time when his shift arrived.
"No matter. I wanna go home with you." Davina insisted.
"Yes, already. If that's what you want. Don't complain if you're bored for the next hour or so."
Davina nodded her head in agreement. She sat down again, but this time on a chair, leaning against the wall. She took out her cell phone from her sling bag. The time spent surfing the web would be lost in the passing of time.
It doesn't take long before Davina is immersed in cyberspace. Noting the uploads in the various social media applications she has. Occasionally Davina leaves traces in the form of "like" to comment on the status or photos shared by her friends.
Jagad quietly noticed his sister's behavior who was engrossed in playing with the cellphone in her hand. However, soon he reprimanded himself to immediately finish the remaining work.
Jagad opened several folders containing patient data, examined and studied the data there.
Sure enough, Davina didn't even feel the time had passed an hour, until Jagad reprimanded his sister first.
"Dav, let's go home."
"Uh, is it time to go home?" Davina was surprised. She looked up at Jagad, taking her attention away from her cell phone.
Jagad stood up from his seat. His desk was already tidied up. He took off his white doctor's coat and draped it on the hanger behind the chair.
"You're too engrossed in your cell phone. I think it's very exciting. I didn't realize it had been an hour," Jagad commented.
"Hehehe ...." Davina laughed showing off looking cute.
The woman got up with a little jump from her seat. The cell phone that she had been playing with was now back in her bag.
Davina slipped her arm between her brother's arms. Taking the man by the hand, she walked beside him. She drew closer in a spoiled manner. Jagad couldn't help but feel amused by his sister's behavior.
"There you go. Smile, Sis!" said Davina after watching her sister along the way after leaving the study.
"Hehe... what's wrong with you?" Jagad couldn't figure out what was wrong with his sister.
"You've been sad since Danas came home," Davina said, telling him the reason.
"Oh, yeah? Really?" Jagad was surprised. He didn't expect his sadness to be so evident in his brother's eyes.
"Your look clearly shows that." Davina spoke as if teasing Jagad.
"Oh, I see." The man avoided his sister's gaze. Away from the gaze that radiated suspicion.
Along the way, nurses and hospital staff who knew Jagad greeted the young doctor.
"Are you going home, Doc?" asked one of the nurses who greeted him every time they met.
"Yes," Jagad replied, returning the nurse's smile.
"See you tomorrow, Doc!" exclaimed the security guard in front of the hospital lobby after Jagad and Davina passed the exit.
"See you, sir!"
Davina also returned the greeting received by her brother. Thanks to that man, Davina couldn't help but recognize them too.
Davina's handshake was only released after they arrived at the parking area. The woman opened the passenger door on the front seat. Jagad got in and sat in the driver's seat after his sister sat first inside.
"Let's not go home yet." Davina suddenly asked.
"Is there somewhere you want to go?" asked Jagad.
"Let's go to the mall!" Davina exclaimed excitedly.
"Mall?" Jagad raised one eyebrow.
"Yes, brother. We haven't gone out together in a long time."
It's not that Jagad didn't want to fulfill his sister's invitation. It's just that he wasn't in the mood for a walk. Especially to a crowded place. He had been in a bad mood since Danas came home. The tiredness that plagued his body was very pronounced.
"Come on, Jagad...." Persuaded Davina with a pleading look.
Unable to stand the persuasion, it didn't take long for Jagad to finally agree to the plan. The man also nodded as a sign of agreement, making Davina cheer cheerfully.
Then the car driven by Jagad drove out, leaving the hospital location.
They arrived at the mall thirty minutes later. Melvin had already turned dark.
"I'm starving, sis. Find something to eat first!"
Without waiting for Jagad's approval, Davina had already walked a few steps ahead. Jagad could only surrender, trying not to be left behind.
From the direction of Davina's steps, Jagad could already guess where they were going. Their usual restaurant, of course. Davina ordered her favorite food, Jagad also chose his usual menu.
"Don't you want to tell me?" Davina started the conversation. She started to put her first bite into her mouth.
Jagad was silent for a moment. His mind was instantly filled with images of Danas. The man exhaled heavily. After struggling to start chewing his food, Jagad finally answered Davina's question.
"I don't know if this feeling is true or not. One thing is for sure, I feel like I've fallen into an abyss too deep."
Davina froze for a moment. Trying to digest the meaning of her brother's words.
"Are you really in love with Danas?" Davina asked again to make sure.
If the situation was different, of course Jagad would answer firmly and with a flowery heart while admitting his own feelings. However, this time Jagad was completely unsure of himself.
On the other hand, Davina, who had been observing Jagad's facial expression all this time, now began to feel guilty. She should have understood that such a question was very difficult to answer.
After dinner, the stomach was full. Miraculously, Jagad's mood was a little better than before.
At first, Jagad thought that after they ate, they would go straight home. However, Davina again went in another direction. Jagad had no choice but to follow his little sister's wishes.
They went upstairs, and stopped at a location right in the middle of the mall building. A place where people could go ice skating.
"It's been a while since we played like this." Davina cheerfully pointed to the rink with ice spread out in front of it.
Jagad saw several people skating on the frozen ice.
That's right. When was the last time Jagad did that? In the past, skating on the ice surface always improved his mood quickly. Jagad admitted, he missed that feeling of freedom.
Without trying to resist at all, of course Jagad said yes to his younger brother's invitation.
