Chapter 66: Chapter 66
After her condition was confirmed to have improved, Danas was finally allowed to go home. Danas was also given a precautionary medicine by the doctor.
Today's incident made Danas feel quite tired. Because, she thought that she could have fun with her best friend. Unfortunately, the opposite happened. During pregnancy, Danas still always gets surprises. The woman felt bad for having to worry the people around her. Even on the way home, the atmosphere in the car was awkward because of the incident at the hospital.
Arriving home, Melvin told Danas to rest immediately. He didn't want anything to happen that would force Danas to go to the hospital again.
"You don't need to cook or work. Let everything be done by Christina and the others. The point is, you have to pay more attention to your condition now," Melvin told Danas when he had just arrived home.
Danas was silent. She didn't say anything, nor did she look like she was going to reply to Melvin. Meanwhile, Melvin was still fuming.
"This all happened because you went out with that friend of yours. If I hadn't let you go out with Davina, maybe something like this wouldn't have happened," Melvin added, looking annoyed. Danas who heard it then frowned. She didn't accept that her best friend was the root of the problem. Even so, Danas remained silent, and didn't try to argue.
Melvin's accusations were completely unfounded. After all, the man also knew that something like this would be revealed sooner or later. Because, it was his son in the womb who had allergies. It was just that the man wanted to vent his frustration. Especially because he saw Jagad always around Danas. Earlier, it was Jagad again who found Danas in an unhealthy condition.
Aleta and Renata, who were in the same room as Melvin and Danas, showed annoyed faces. The reason Renata was upset was of course because she didn't like Melvin's attitude of being worried about Danas. But the reason why Aleta was upset was because her son was too forbidding his wife to move. Aleta actually supports Danas to do more activities. Today's incident occurred because Danas was considered too often lazy.
"You don't need to be like that forbidding this woman. She even has to move a lot," Aleta explained while folding her hands in front of her chest. Melvin who heard that then turned to his mother who was standing behind him.
Even so, Aleta didn't stop herself. Instead, she continued to nag Danas.
"If you weren't lazy, this wouldn't have happened. Couldn't you pay more attention to the condition of the baby in your womb. That baby is Melvin's, you know. Don't because of your mistake, that baby should be born with a defect. Besides, didn't I tell you that you have to move around a lot to keep the baby healthy? Don't you get it?"
The lengthy explanation sounded like it was starting to heat up the room. Aleta didn't even seem to stop her tirade immediately.
The woman snorted in annoyance. "It's hard to tell people like you. Melvin, I can't believe how you could trust a woman like this with your baby. Also, don't spoil her too much. Don't you know that this happened because your wife is always lazy. It's only in front of you that she's acting so diligent, so nice. I really can't get over it," Aleta snapped, making Melvin equally annoyed. The man didn't accept what his mother said.
"You don't need to interfere. You don't need to intervene so much. This didn't happen because he didn't move. It's because she went out with her friend and her friend's brother today that this happened. If only she could be calm at home, she wouldn't have to experience something like this. Anyway, Mama just keep quiet and don't interfere."
The deafening explanation made Aleta's blood start to run hot. She didn't expect her son to deny himself like that. Aleta was really hurt.
"I did all this because I care about your baby, you know. You can't treat your parents like that. Besides, what do you know about pregnancy? You're the one who got pregnant. I'm a woman. I also did the same thing you said in order to give birth to a healthy child. Why are you so cynical about me? I came to Indonesia for you and your child."
Aleta looked very angry at Melvin. The argument between the two began to get tough and made the atmosphere even murkier. Danas, who was the topic of conversation, chose to remain silent while the two argued. Danas felt bad because she was the cause of their quarrel. Inevitably, the woman ended up feeling a little guilty.
"Perhaps you've been successfully possessed by that demoness? If there was Amaira, none of this would have happened. You wouldn't have had to marry that woman and have children with her. You wouldn't have defied Mom either," Aleta continued as she looked away. The woman looked like she was about to shed tears.
Melvin, who heard this, was furious. He couldn't stand it if Amaira's name was brought up in the conversation.
"Stop, Mom! You know how much I hate Danas. She murdered Amaira. We don't need to discuss that anymore. But, this and that are different issues. This is about Melvin's baby. Melvin's flesh and blood. I don't care what happens to this woman, but I don't want anything to happen to my son. Is that so hard for Mama to understand? Anyway, I don't wanna hear this discussion anymore. Danas needs to calm down at home. There's no need to bother about home affairs. Period."
Aleta no longer said anything. She just tried to breathe in and out slowly to calm herself down. She felt that she had just lost control. Her son's attitude could not be changed. Melvin was a very stubborn child. Aleta herself knew that. In the end, the woman no longer tried to argue with her son. She chose to leave rather than listen to Melvin's words that would continue to hurt her.
"As you wish," Aleta said before leaving the place for her room on the second floor.
"Argh!" Melvin shouted loudly to vent his anger. The man's face looked bright red from his irritation.
Renata, who had been quietly watching the incident, finally spoke up. The woman didn't want to miss the opportunity to make Melvin feel guilty for his actions towards his mother.
"Yes, that's how you are. Since Danas got pregnant, not only me, but Aunt Aleta has also been draped. I don't know who you consider important anymore. I guess I've lost all meaning to Melvin, too. Just so you know, Aunt Aleta is always thinking about your child. It's gotten to the point where I'm annoyed with myself because it's all about Danas, Danas, and Danas. Ah, whatever!"
Renata gave Melvin a glare. The woman was blatantly showing her dislike. After that, she glanced at Danas and gave him a sardonic look before following Aleta upstairs. Renata also entered her room in annoyance while slamming the door.
Melvin who was left behind by the two women frowned. The man really hated his current situation. Melvin actually didn't know what was going on with him. He could be so sensitive if he was in a problem related to Danas. In fact, he was supposed to hate Danas. But his actions sometimes went against his heart. Today, he was so scared that something would happen to Danas, to the point of denying his mother to relieve his anxiety. If he really hated Danas, the fight like earlier shouldn't have happened.
Melvin could only let out a long sigh because he didn't understand himself. Meanwhile, Danas, who was still standing nearby, looked confused about what to do. The woman also didn't dare to interfere in Melvin's family matters. She herself knew where her position was in the family. Of course she didn't have the right to speak.
"Go rest in your room!" Melvin said, seeing Danas just standing there.
Danas who was timidly looking into Melvin's eyes that were looking so scary just nodded slowly. Then, he immediately left Melvin alone and headed to his room.
Melvin who was left alone downstairs finally chose to sit on the sofa. The man tried to introspect about today's events. After managing to calm himself down a bit, Melvin thought, maybe he had overreacted earlier. He shouldn't have said that to his mother. Aleta was right, he returned to Indonesia for one reason. Namely, for the sake of her own son. So, there was no way her mother would give advice aimed at hurting her baby.
"Hah... this is really tiring," Melvin muttered.
