Chapter 62: Chapter 62

"That's right, Melvin, Aunt Aleta forced Danas to stop, but your wife kept cooking." Renata added. Making Melvin look at Danas in annoyance.

"I'm sorry, Mama, Melvin. I can't take care of your wife properly," Aleta said again pretending to be sad.

Melvin looked at Danas. There was no rebuttal from the woman. As if confirming the complaints from Aleta and Renata to her. Melvin rubbed his face roughly. He couldn't understand Danas acting like that.

"Danas, are you nuts?" Melvin snapped. " You've got to pay attention to your pregnancy. Can't you just disobey for once, huh?"

Danas fell silent. This made Melvin even more angry. The other side of Melvin's heart was expecting a rebuttal from Danas. However, seeing Danas silent as if she agreed with Aleta's words made Melvin even more angry.

She told Danas to take off her apron and get out of the kitchen. Melvin wasn't violent at the moment. Considering Danas was pregnant with his baby. Making Melvin have to take pains not to go too far in scolding Danas.

"Do you have plans to murder the baby in your womb?" asked Melvin again which made Danas immediately look up with an angry look on his face.

"Melvin are you insane to say that?" Danas couldn't stand listening to Melvin's bad words towards her pregnancy.

"You're the one who's crazy for acting like this!" Melvin retorted in a high tone.

Danas clenched her hands into fists. She couldn't argue with him, because it would be useless. Melvin wouldn't believe her. In the end, Danas was left speechless.

"Show me that you're taking good care of the child in your womb." Melvin lowered his tone. However, he said it with emphasis in every word.

All of Melvin's ranting stopped when the waiter interrupted them by saying that they had a visitor. Without turning around, Melvin asked, "Who's here?"

"Miss Davina, a friend of Mrs. Danas," the waiter replied.

Danas immediately turned his head. She didn't expect Davina to come at a time like this. Danas was already afraid that Davina would get a tantrum from Melvin. However, Melvin's attitude was just the opposite.

"Hurry up and meet your friend," Melvin said and immediately left Danas.

Danas immediately went to the living room. She met Davina who was sitting on the long sofa in the living room. "Hi, Dav," greeted Danas.

Davina raised her chin. Seeing her best friend coming made Davina stand up immediately. She immediately hugged her best friend briefly.

" What are you doing?" asked Davina.

Danas smiled. "Good, how about you?" Danas asked back.

Davina and Danas sat together on the sofa. " I'm fine too. I really want to take you out for a walk today. It's been a while since we went out, right?" Davina invited.

Danas was silent. She didn't know if Melvin would allow her to go when he had just scolded her. "I should ask Melvin," Danas said hesitantly.

She really felt bad if Melvin forbade her. How would Danas refuse Davina's invitation.

Davina nodded her head. "Ah, that's right. You already have a husband and have to get his permission first. Yes, it's okay. Ask Melvin's permission first. I don't mind if Melvin forbids it," Davina replied casually. That made Danas feel even more uncomfortable.

Seeing Danas' face, Davina realized what her friend felt. "No problem, Danas. We can take a walk when you're in better shape. Come on, just ask first." Davina soothed while stroking Danas' shoulder.

Danas finally got up from her seat. She walked towards Melvin's room. Aleta and Renata were no longer in the dining room or living room. Danas assumed they had all gone to their respective rooms.

Danas stood in front of Melvin's bedroom door. He raised his hand hesitantly to knock on the large door.

Soon there was a reply from inside the room. Then the doorknob turned and the door opened.

Melvin looked at him flatly. "What's wrong?" asked Melvin.

Danas, who didn't dare to look Melvin in the eye, finally just looked down. "Davina asked me to go out. Would you allow it? I won't be tired. I promise," said Danas timidly.

She had prepared her heart in case Melvin forbade her.

"Go," Melvin said. Making Danas look up quickly.

She didn't expect that Melvin would allow it. "Really?" asked Danas.

Melvin scratched the back of his head. "Do I look like I'm joking?" asked Melvin back.

He then raised his index finger and pointed it in front of Danas' face. "I have your word. Take care of your pregnancy, I don't want anything to happen to my child," Melvin said firmly.

Danas nodded her head quickly. "I promise Melvin," Danas replied.

Then the woman immediately turned to the living room. She saw Davina who was fiddling with her flat object. Davina's focus on her cell phone made her unaware of Danas' presence.

"Dav," called Danas.

Davina immediately lifted her chin. "Yes? How did it go? Did Melvin forbid you?" Davina asked in a row.

Danas pulled the corners of her lips together. It made Davina smile because she knew that expression meant that her best friend was allowed to go with her.

"I'll wait for you, dress up," Davina said again.

"Okay, wait a minute, yes," Danas replied while waving her hand.

She immediately went into her room to get ready.

Danas felt lucky that Davina came. She became free in such a cornered condition. Danas sat on the front passenger seat. Right next to Davina.

Davina drove her car out of the grounds of Melvin's mansion. Her four-wheeled vehicle joined the other vehicles on the highway.

"It was like I heard a commotion," Davina opened her voice.

Danas knew that Davina must have heard her.

"Melvin is mad at me," Danas replied.

"What else this time?" asked Davina. "How could Melvin keep pressuring you when you were pregnant with his baby?" Davina shook her head in disbelief.

"It's because she saw me doing chores around the house. I just finished cooking. So Melvin scolded me. What made Melvin even angrier was that my mother-in-law and Renata said I wasn't listening to their advice. I cooked because my mother-in-law told me to," said Danas.

She began to tell the story in detail. From the time Renata and Aleta left together, came home and looked for Danas, Aleta scolded Danas and said that Danas was just lounging around at home.

"My mother-in-law said that she got a rumor that I was lazy at home. She said that I shouldn't take advantage of my status as the lady of the house by being lazy. But I wasn't acting like that, I was just in the garden because I had been watering the plants. I don't know whose rumor my in-laws heard."

Davina sighed. "Who else if not Renata," Davina guessed with eyes rolling in annoyance.

The woman had even guessed it quickly. Danas silently agreed. She was reminded of Renata standing behind Aleta and smiling broadly.

"I think so," Danas said, remembering how Renata had whispered that this was her misery.

"Earlier Renata showed her big smile when I was being scolded," Danas added.

"Haha I expected that," Davina replied. "Don't you intend to reciprocate yet?"

Danas smiled slightly. "What kind of reply do you mean? I didn't have the heart to be rude to Renata. I can't lie either. Besides, let alone lying, I'm not sure if my mother-in-law or Melvin would believe me."

"Tell Melvin the truth. We need to expose the fact that it was Renata who killed Amaira, not you."

Danas smiled wryly. She lowered her face. She watched her ten fingers intertwine. "It's not that easy, Dav," Danas replied listlessly.

Making Davina, who was driving, also fell silent. Danas's words were true. It's not that easy to prove when they themselves have lost track. Moreover, the case was already closed. It would be more difficult for her to find evidence of Renata's murder of Amaira without the help of the police.

"There must be a way, Dan. No crime is perfect. The carcass will definitely smell. I still believe in that proverb," Davina said confidently.

Danas turned to her side. Seeing Davina who was so sure made her also feel equally sure. However, Danas still had no idea where they could prove Danas' innocence in this case?

Then Danas threw his gaze out the window. Looking at the scenery out there. Danas exhaled slowly. "I hope we can find a way soon," Danas said. To be honest, she was already tired of being in this position.

Sometimes she felt like giving up on everything. However, Danas again had a reason to persevere. The woman brought her hand to stroke her flat stomach. The belly in which there was a reason for her to stay a little longer.
