Chapter 45: Chapter 45
"Jagad," Davina called as she opened the door to her room and passed by her brother.
Jagad, who was already carrying his briefcase, turned to Davina. Both his eyebrows were raised.
"Yes?" he asked. It was unusual that Davina had called him even when the door to their room had just opened.
Davina walked forward. As if she didn't want to speak in a high enough tone. Jagad was even more curious.
"For Amaira's problem." Davina began to say. Her eyes glanced to the right and left as if to make sure that there were only Jagad and Davina around her.
"How did you know that it was Renata who murdered Amaira, rather than Danas?" asked Davina. Davina herself was quite curious. How did her brother know. Especially considering that her brother was Melvin's best friend.
"The only ones who know this secret are me, Danas, and Renata. This is very strange considering I never said anything to you. Plus I'm sure neither Danas nor Renata will tell Jagad the truth. So, how do you know all this?" Davina asked.
Another question that made Davina curious was how could her brother know this while Melvin himself did not know the truth.
Jagad put one hand in his pants pocket. "That's because you accidentally overheard Danas' conversation with Renata."
Davina was silent. Still listening to her brother's explanation.
Jagad relaxed his shoulders. "Well, you could say that you were accidentally eavesdropping," Jagad said again.
Davina nodded her head. "And you believe Danas. That it was Renata who murdered Amaira?"
Jagad nodded his head. "Besides, Renata also indirectly admitted it, so I know the truth. But, until now I haven't been able to tell the truth to Melvin. Melvin is currently only willing to believe what he believes. So, it would be useless if you tell the truth to Melvin for now," Jagad said expressing his opinion.
What her brother said was true. Davina nodded her head. Agreeing with her brother's opinion. Because, considering that Melvin is still in love with Renata, it will certainly be very difficult to convince Melvin for now. However, on the other hand Davina felt bad for Danas who always received unpleasant treatment from Renata and Melvin.
Her best friend's life is tormented because of other people's bad deeds. Danas didn't deserve such a heavy punishment. Davina lowered her face. She felt sad because she couldn't do anything for her best friend at the moment.
"You didn't have breakfast?" scolded Jagad who had walked first.
Davina raised her face. Then turned to her brother who had walked first. The woman immediately approached her brother. They both walked side by side to the dining table.
"Do you still like Danas?" Davina asked to the point.
Of course the question made Jagad very surprised. He quickly turned his face towards his sister.
"What do you mean?" asked Jagad nervously.
Meanwhile, Davina responded with a flat face and slumped shoulders. "I'm just asking. Anyway, if you wanna get close to Danas, I allow it," Davina said again before she quickened her pace. Leaving Jagad who was still trying to control himself.
Davina meant it when she said that she allowed her brother to have a relationship with Danas. Although she knew that her best friend already had a husband, but remembering Melvin who didn't love Danas and always hurt Danas made Davina think that her brother's closeness with her best friend would not be a problem.
Let's just say that this is something Davina can do right now to ease the burden that Danas is feeling.
Danas re-entered the room after preparing breakfast for Melvin. While cooking, Christina forbade him several times. Saying that Danas had just recovered and didn't need to do housework. However, Danas was still Danas. She felt like she hadn't prepared breakfast for Melvin in a long time, so when she felt like she could move, Danas would take advantage of the opportunity.
Just as Danas was about to enter the room, the sound of breaking dishes was heard from the direction of the dining table. Danas gasped. She immediately ran to the dining table to see what was going on.
Danas' eyes widened when she saw that the food she had just cooked on the plate had now moved to the floor. The plate that she had prepared a few minutes ago had now turned into small shards.
"Do you wanna ruin my day by eating the cooking of someone who just recovered from an illness? If your tongue isn't working properly it would be better not to do anything," Melvin said sharply.
Danas, meanwhile, didn't budge from her spot. Her eyes were still looking straight at the food scattered on the floor. Several nurses came and squatted there to tidy up the mess.
"Don't do anything until you're fully recovered. Because in your current state you can only mess up," Melvin said as he stood up.
"There's no need to prepare breakfast anymore, Chris," he told his servant.
"I'll have breakfast outside."
Melvin then waltzed out past Danas' body, who was still staring at the servants who were still tidying up Melvin's mess.
Danas smiled nervously. Isn't this normal? Why should Danas feel hurt just because Melvin refused his food?
Danas got out of the black sedan and walked towards the building where her class was. On the way she met Davina and Jagad, the young doctor she had met several times.
Danas immediately replaced her sad expression with a smiling face. She waved back at Davina when her best friend called her name.
"Hi, Dav, Jagad," Danas greeted.
"Class is still an hour away and you're here already?" Davina asked Danas.
Danas frowned. "The same thing you're doing now, Dav," Danas said, trying to defend himself.
"I had to leave early because he didn't want to be late," Davina replied, pointing at her brother with a glance.
Danas chuckled at the sight of her best friend.
Jagad grumbled when he heard his sister blaming him.
"Oh, yes, did you have breakfast?" Jagad asked Danas.
Of course, he started the action. At first it was just an ordinary question. The reason was, Jagad was sure Danas must have had breakfast in Melvin's luxurious mansion with dozens of servants.
However, unexpectedly. Danas shook her head.
"Nopet," she replied.
That made the green signal in Jagad's head light up.
"Why, don't you be late for breakfast, especially since you've just recovered from an illness," Jagad chided.
Danas grimaced as she rubbed the back of her neck. She herself had no appetite when she was at home earlier. It made her decide to go straight to the university. However, there was no way Danas could say that.
"Then let's find breakfast first, while there is still an hour to go to class," said Jagad.
At first Danas wanted to refuse. However, her stomach didn't seem to be able to cooperate and instead made an empty stomach sound.
"Okay," Danas replied in the end.
Then Danas' eyes glanced at Davina. "Did you have breakfast?" Danas asked.
Davina immediately nodded her head. "I've had it. But, Jagad hasn't," Davina said originally.
This made Danas immediately turn her face towards Jagad. Her facial expression signaled 'seriously, you haven't had breakfast either'.
Jagad scratched the back of his neck. How could his younger brother say such a random thing when the two of them had just had breakfast together at home. Jagad threw a protesting look at his sister. However, the woman ignored him.
"Then we should both find breakfast together," Jagad said.
Here they were. At a rice stall, Danas had chosen this place. And Jagad could only follow her.
The woman ordered uduk rice with some side dishes such as eggs, tofu, tempeh. The same thing that Jagad ordered.
"Have you ever eaten here?" asked Danas as they waited for their order to be ready.
Jagad shook his head. "I often eat at home too. But, to eat at this place, umm, this is my first experience," Jagad replied with a chuckle.
Danas smiled a little. " You'll feel addicted," Danas replied.
"Ah, then we should eat here every breakfast," Jagad joked.
Danas covered his mouth and laughed. His eyes narrowed just a fraction as Jagad spoke unseriously.
Soon their order came. Danas and Jagad started eating their breakfast. Jagad himself who had already had breakfast had to pretend that he hadn't had breakfast.
On the other hand, Danas felt lucky. Even though every day the man who is her husband always acts arbitrarily towards her, often hurting her. Danas is grateful to still have people who make her feel strong again.
"I think Davina will regret not coming with us," Jagad said between bites.
Danas chuckled. "I think so."
