Chapter 44: Chapter 44

Davina closed the door to Danas' room and walked towards her best friend's bed with stomping feet. Her hands were folded in front of her chest.

"Melvin hasn't come yet, is he always like this? He doesn't care about you when you're sick," Davina said as she dropped her butt on the edge of Danas' bed.

Danas who tried to close his eyes finally opened them again.

"This is better, Dav," Danas said briefly before he finally closed her eyes again.

Davina of course furrowed her brow in surprise. "Better? A husband who doesn't care about his own wife's health?" Davina's tone rose.

Danas nodded her head. She opened her eyes. "It's better than him being here just to scold me."

Davina let out a long sigh. Seeing Danas who said that with an ordinary face as if it was a common thing.

"Can't you tell Melvin the truth?"

The words just came out of Davina's mouth. The woman couldn't bear to see the unfair treatment that her best friend received due to someone's slander.

Davina really wanted to say it directly to Melvin. However, she still respected Danas as Melvin's wife to tell the truth herself.

Danas was silent. She didn't dare to say anything. That made Davina even more eager to urge Danas to tell Melvin the truth.

"Danas, aren't you tired of being in this position? In this case you are the one who suffers the most. Don't you want a better home life?" urged Davina. "You should tell Melvin the truth immediately."

Danas shook her head weakly. "I'm sure Melvin won't believe me, Dav," she replied softly.

Davina furrowed her brow. "Why? Is it because Renata is his girlfriend? So he won't believe that Renata is the culprit?" Davina said firmly.

"It's because Renata has the video," Danas replied, silencing Davina.

Danas returned Davina's gaze. Davina stared at Danas with a confused look. "What video?" asked Davina hesitantly.

Davina could already tell from Danas' face that the video Danas was referring to was not a good thing that would benefit her friend.

"Renata has a videotape that shows me removing the glass bottle that pierced Amaira's stomach. It will definitely look like I did it," Danas explained.

It's not that Danas doesn't want the truth to come out, but Melvin is so difficult to influence. Danas was sure Melvin would find it difficult to believe him, especially since Renata had a video recording showing Danas pulling the bottle that stabbed Amaira's stomach.

"Do you think Melvin will still believe me after seeing that video?"

Davina was very sure that it never happened during the trial but why did Renata have the video? Was this all planned by Renata to get close to Melvin, Amaira's brother?

Davina clenched her hands into fists. She never thought that Renata would go so far as to slander her own best friend. The woman said no more. Danas laid back down and rested. Ignoring her best friend who was now covered in anger.

"Dav, I'm okay alone here. If you have other matters you can go, it's okay to leave me alone," Danas said again. The reason is, she knows that Davina must also have other personal matters and cannot linger here with her.

Davina looked away. "Yes, I do have other business," Davina replied. She climbed down from Danas' bed.

The long-haired woman walked over to the small sofa by the window and picked up her small bag, car keys, and jeans jacket that she had left there.

"If you need anything or anything happens to you, you should call me immediately," Davina warned.

Danas chuckled a little. She was used to being independent all this time. She wasn't used to getting this attention again from her best friend after so long.

"Danas I mean it. I'll no longer leave you alone," Davina said passionately. " I'll no longer let you bear all this burden alone."

Danas' heart instantly warmed at Davina's words. He nodded his head slowly. "Yes, Dav. I'll call you if anything bothers me again," Danas said.

She tried hard not to shed tears of emotion. Danas had never thought until this moment that her best friend would come back to her. She didn't think that she hadn't really lost a friend.

"Then I'll leave first," Davina said. Danas smiled and could only wave as Davina walked towards the door.

"Be careful Davina!" exclaimed Danas when Davina was already in the doorway.

Davina turned around. Smiled briefly then opened the door knob and walked out of Danas' room.

Davina's smile faded as she exited Melvin's luxurious mansion. Davina was even reluctant to linger in every room of this mansion if it wasn't for Danas. The mansion of the owner who always tortured her friend.

Davina stretched out her hand and pointed the automatic remote towards her car until the sound was heard. The woman got into her four-wheeled vehicle.

"Renata, you've gone too far," Davina hissed.

Danas' words came back to her mind. How Renata had set Danas up. Renata, his former best friend. Someone who made her two best friends suffer. Davina gripped the steering wheel tightly.

"After killing Amaira, now you're making Danas' life miserable?" One of Davina's eyebrows went up. She started the engine of her car.

Intending to go to Renata's apartment and force the woman to admit all her mistakes.

The important business Davina was referring to Danas was this. Going to Renata's apartment to confront the vile woman directly. Davina parked her car in the parking lot of the apartment. With a hot heart, Davina then gets out of there.

She even closed the car door a little rudely. Then she walked with wide strides towards the apartment building. The two hands hanging at her sides were clenched tightly. After she witnessed firsthand how Renata attacked Danas this morning, Davina knew that subtle methods would not work when dealing with this woman.

Davina entered the elevator, then pressed the number where Renata's unit was located. Davina straightens her sharp eyes.

When the elevator opened she quickly got out of there. Turning at the intersection towards Renata's apartment unit.

Davina presses the bell impatiently. She was fed up with Renata's behavior. Davina's anger had reached the top of her head.

When Renata opened the door to her apartment. Davina immediately attacked Renata with expletives.

"Are you out of your mind? After being a murderer, you now ignorantly continue to torture others. Destroying other people's home lives? Cih, even the devil would feel insecure about you."

Renata raised one eyebrow. "What are you here for?" she asked casually.

"I already know that you're the murderer, so you don't need to pretend in front of me," Davina said spitefully.

It made Renata's face look very stiff.

"Why, are you feeling scared? It's better now that you stop all your bad deeds."

Renata smiled wryly. Her eyes swooped down sharply to hit Davina's irises.

"Me? Afraid of you? Ahahaa." Renata laughed dismissively.

"I have nothing to fear, I don't even care how many people know the truth. For me as long as Melvin only believes my words, that's enough. What's important to me in Melvin's eyes is that Danas killed his brother. And it's Danas that Melvin hates. So, why should I be scared?" Renata replied, challenging Davina even more.

"Are you sure this rottenness of yours will last long?" retorted Davina.

Renata raised one eyebrow. "Are you this obsessed with making Melvin believe that I killed his sister?"

"I just want you to stop bothering Danas," Davina hissed sharply.

Hearing Davina's answer made the lopsided smile on Renata's face fade. Her facial expression became flat.

"Then, let's start with Danas stopping bothering Melvin. Stay away from Melvin then I'll stop bothering that woman and stay away from him," Renata said.

Davina clucked while shaking her head. "Besides being a demon, you're so cheap, huh, how can you be so obsessed with other people's husbands and even have the determination to snatch people's husbands."

"It was Danas who snatched Melvin away from me!" snapped Renata. Her eyes were red with anger. Her index finger pointed in front of Davina's face. "Remember, Dav. As long as Danas doesn't stop getting close to Melvin, I'm going to ruin his life. Remember that!"

After saying that, Renata stepped back and went back inside her apartment.

For Renata, her relationship with Davina was not important. As long as she had Melvin, it was more than enough.

Davina who saw how ambitious Renata was in destroying Danas' life realized something, from now on she couldn't underestimate Renata.
