Chapter 39: Chapter 39

Davina was very lazy to go downstairs but because Jagad's voice was shrill and kept calling her, she finally went down. She could see that her brother looked angry.

"You shouldn't interfere in my life."

"Davina, no one taught you that," Tania commented.

" Mom. She went to Davina, it was her choice. And, Davina's choice wasn't to see her." Davina emphasized her choice.

Jagad gave her sister a sharp look. "You're really too much. She's unconscious from waiting for you and you say things like that. Where is your humanity, Dav," Jagad said, making his sister surprised.

Danas had fainted?

"I'm tired of talking to you," Davina grumbled and went back to her room.

"You've gotta come with me tomorrow morning to see him. Don't argue and run away," said Jagad making Davina's footsteps momentarily stopped then resumed her steps.

Her heart could not deny that she was worried about Danas who was unconscious. She thought that she had gone too far. She picked up her cell phone and typed in Danas' number but she put it back on the nightstand.

"Did she really faint just because it rained? Is she physically weak or is she really sick?"

Davina wondered to herself as she paced back and forth. She wanted to call Danas and ask how he was doing, but she didn't want to. She still thought that Danas had lied to her.

"Why should I be kind to someone who has lied? She could just be pretending to be sick," Davina muttered as she climbed onto the bed.

It's been an exhausting day. Davina's head feels dizzy and she wants to sleep quickly. Outside the room, Davina still heard her mother who was talking with Jagad.

Her brother seemed to be still explaining his business with Danas. Jagad would not give up quickly if it was a matter of principle.

Davina turned her back and faced the wall, she didn't want to hear the conversation outside. Her eyes immediately closed tightly. Sleep is a panacea, she thought.

The next day, Davina was already preparing for college. Today she entered early so that by breakfast she was already down and tidy.

She saw Jagad also preparing to leave for his workplace. The man was always disciplined and punctual. Especially when it comes to working.

Davina wanted to go alone. She said goodbye to her mother after finishing a glass of milk and a piece of bread.

Jagad suddenly approached her and offered to come along in his car. "Let's go together! I'll take you to the university," he said.

Davina squinted her eyes. She thought her brother had raised the peace flag after their argument last night. However, Davina was still a bit hesitant to accept.

"Hmm, I can go by myself," she said as she glanced at her watch. It was still quite early and she could use public transportation.

But Tania hurriedly interrupted and told the two children to leave together. "Davina, I was offered to go with your brother. It's safer and you can get to campus faster."

"Let's go," said Jagad. This time he did not want to be denied. He pulled Davina's hand and led her to the car. Inevitably Davina complied and sat in the passenger seat quietly.

Jagad started the car engine. A few minutes later the car moved slowly away from their house.

Davina remained silent in her seat. She didn't know what conversation to start with Jagad. While Jagad was busy driving, trying to get through the highway traffic.

"You really don't wanna see her?"

Jagad suddenly asked without turning to Davina. Her sister spontaneously turned to Jagad and frowned.

"Who are you referring to? That woman?" she said unhappily. Davina already knew that Jagad was talking about Danas.

Jagad gave a small nod and looked calm behind the wheel of the car. He already had his own plans that morning.

Seeing Jagad's calm reaction, Davina then thought of saying what had been her heart's desire. Danas used to be her best friend but now her condition has changed.

"I don't wanna be friends with a liar anymore," Davina said as she turned her face out of the car window. Jagad had to know that fact and respect her decision.

"Hmm, just because she didn't say her status?" Jagad repeated the question. His fingers tapped the steering wheel to break the ice.

Davina then snorted in annoyance. She thought that was the main reason for staying away from Danas. "She married the wrong person," Davina muttered in a slightly floating voice.

Jagad silently raised his eyebrows slightly at Davina's words. It was true what she said, Danas was married to the person who took her captive!

"I get it why you're staying away from her, but-."

"I don't care to deal with her anymore. I don't wanna get involved in her problems." It seemed that Davina was already so sure of the steps she was taking.

But Jagad was not. He knew Davina could return to being good if she had seen for herself what happened.

"I'm not forcing you but I don't think you'll regret your stubbornness," Jagad said while preparing his plan.

Davina was silent when her brother said that. The two of them always had different opinions. Davina knew her brother always tried to do the best for her.

Jagad started to execute his plan. He kept driving by starting to take the opposite direction from Davina's campus.

Davina frowned when she realized Jagad took a different road. "Sis, where are we going? You're supposed to go straight, why did you take a turn?"

Jagad cleared his throat briefly before answering Davina's question. He had to find a reason that his sister could understand. "Just a moment, I've got a patient to see this morning."

Davina couldn't help but turn to Jagad and cast a suspicious look. "Patient? So early? Aren't your patients always in the hospital ward?"

Jagad shook his head lightly as he pressed the gas pedal. He sped up the car so they could reach their destination soon.

"This time the case is different, so I decided to treat her at her home." Jagad's answer caused a puzzle in Davina's heart. This was the first time she had heard that Jagad practiced home visits.

Davina was about to ask again but was too lazy to argue. She had already joined Jagad's car, if she knew this, she would have left for the campus on her own.

The car continued to drive smoothly until Davina realized that she was starting to recognize the road they were on. Her eyes scanned the side of the road and began to frown.

"Don't tell me we're going to the house-." Davina's speech stopped. She was starting to feel annoyed with her sister's behavior. She said she wasn't being pushy but now they were going to Danas' house!

"Jagad, are you seriously going to her house?" This time Davina could no longer hide her anger. Her eyeballs widened staring at Jagad.

Jagad, however, was well prepared for Davina's reaction. He thought it was better for his sister to scold him now than for him to continue misunderstanding Danas.

"You knew?" Just a short sentence came out of Jagad's mouth and he was very calm in responding to Davina.

Davina leaned her shoulder rudely. She clearly knew the road they were taking to Lintang and Danas' house.

Davina's mouth pouted. She looked away again and no longer wanted to talk to Jagad.

Jagad saw Davina's reaction through the rearview mirror. A small smile appeared there. He was used to dealing with his sister who was suddenly in a bad mood like that.

The man didn't care much this time. He already knew the risk of being antagonized by his sister, but still, he carried out his plan.

The car began to move slowly as it approached the big house that Davina had memorized. It was obvious that Jagad wanted to meet the woman again.

"You know this house? It's my patient's house, he's my best friend. His wife is being treated." Jagad still acted as if Davina didn't know who they were visiting.

"I already know," Davina replied curtly.

The car stopped right in front of the towering fence. The horn sounded, asking the security guard to open the gate.

Not long after, the gate was seen being opened from the inside. "I want to check on my patient," Jagad said politely. He knew the security guard must be wondering what his purpose was for coming this early in the morning.

Knowing that it was the doctor who was treating the lady of the house, the security guard immediately let him in.

"Oh, right, Doc. Please come in."

"Thank you, sir," Jagad said with a smile. The car then entered and looked for a parking position in an empty lot.

"Wait, this is the house-"

"Um. Brother needs to check on his wife's condition."

"Wife?"

"He's married?" asked Davina never.

"Yes. I'll introduce you to his wife."

"Ah, so boring." Davina was indifferent, she didn't want to get acquainted with her brother's best friend's wife.

Jagad turned off the car engine and began preparing the tools he would bring down. While Davina was still motionless in the passenger seat.

Her eyes seemed to observe the condition of the house. She was very familiar with the atmosphere.

"This house is still the same as before, the difference is that now it looks more quiet and cheerless."

Davina was definitely very familiar with the mansion. She used to play here often until Amaira died. Davina sighed heavily and looked resigned.

"Let's go," Jagad invited as he opened the car door. He saw his sister still pensive.

Davina shook her head slowly. She was reluctant to follow her sister. It was lazy to go inside the house and have to meet the occupants.

"I'm lazy." That was the only word Davina uttered. She seemed to be rock solid and unwilling to deal with the people her brother was about to meet.

Jagad didn't give up. He got out of the car while carrying his bag of medical equipment. Instead of leaving the car immediately, Jagad walked around and opened the door for Davina.

"Come on and follow me. It won't take long, after that you can go back to the car."

Jagad's words were light but there was clearly a tone of emphasis there. He was determined to bring Davina and Danas together. The misunderstanding must end immediately.

Davina was still silent, she was unsure whether to get off or insist on waiting for Jagad in the car.

"Davina, come on!" Jagad's voice was again heard reprimanding her. This time the man was not in the mood to fight.
