Chapter 38: Chapter 38

Melvin grabbed Jagad's shirt collar. His gaze was full of dislike. "Can we talk about it after I drop her off? She has a fever." Jagad spoke very casually but not Melvin.

His mind was in turmoil seeing Danas coming home soaking wet and in the arms of Jagad, his best friend.

"Let go, Melvin. This is not the time to fight with me," Jagad said making Melvin release his grip.

Jagad looked toward the other side of the house, where Renata was. The woman's gaze was filled with dislike, not because Jagad was holding Danas but because Melvin started paying attention to Danas.

Since the beginning, Jagad had predicted that Melvin would still be in touch with Renata.

"Let me do it," Melvin exclaimed, trying to take Danas from Jagad's arms.

Realizing that he didn't have the right, Jagad gave the unconscious Danas to Melvin.

Melvin could feel Danas' warm body, even his face looked red. Melvin hurriedly took him up to the room, followed by Jagad. Renata didn't want to be left behind, even though she didn't like Melvin's interaction with Danas.

A room that was far from luxurious made Jagad's eyes glaze over for a moment. He didn't know what Melvin had done to Danas, but it was obvious that the bedroom occupied by Danas was far from luxurious.

"Chris, change the clothes," Melvin ordered and came out followed by Melvin and Renata.

"What a hassle," Renata grumbled, making Jagad look at her.

"You'd better shut up and not open your mouth here," Jagad said making Renata fall silent.

Melvin followed Jagad down the stairs, he was curious how the two of them could be together. " What's going on, why are you and Danas together?"

Jagad looked into Melvin's eyes, he could see the worry there, although the man continued to ignore the worry.

"I went to pick up my sister and accidentally saw her waiting for her friend, and she was unconscious so I took her home," Jagad half-lied.

Melvin felt a little relieved at Jagad's words, he thought Danas was out with his best friend.

"I'll get my medical kit from the car. She needs an IV," Jagad said and got out.

Jagad kicked his car outside. He got emotional after seeing the condition of Danas' room, he couldn't believe that Melvin treated Danas like a maid.

"Fuck you, Melvin. You can put your wife in a room like that while that bitch lives in a swanky apartment," Jagad swore.

He had to try to get Melvin to reinvestigate Amaira's case so that Danas could be free from the prison Melvin had created. Danas had suffered enough, being married to Melvin was the worst suffering.

"Sir, I've changed Madame's clothes," Christina said.

Jagad who had just entered hearing Christina's words immediately went upstairs.

"I'll give her an intravenous line, it can help with her fever. Ah, don't forget to make some porridge for her to drink after she wakes up," said Jagad then went into the room.

Melvin didn't want to be left behind, he continued to follow Jagad who put the IV on Danas.

"Is she okay?"

"Oh, she's fine. Just a fever, she needs a lot of rest," Jagadd explained then put the IV in Danas' right hand.

Danas' face was so pale, and tired. He didn't know what the problem was that made Davina and Danas fight but he had to make his sister and Danas meet.

"Ehem." Melvin cleared his throat making Jagad immediately move.

"Do you live with her here too?" asked Jagad while pointing at Renata.

Melvin glanced at Renata for a moment. "No, she just drops by after work."

Jagad's eyes were sharp, looking at Renata. "I can't believe you actually treated her inappropriately, Melvin."

Melvin, who didn't understand Jagad's words, frowned. "What do you mean?"

"You made her sleep in that room, not even more than a warehouse that was neatly arranged and painted to beautify it."

Jagad's words were quite piercing. "She doesn't deserve the splendor," Melvin replied dispassionately.

Jagad now understood what Danas was saying. It was useless to tell Melvin the truth. The man wouldn't believe that Renata had brainwashed him. Somehow that woman made Danas blind to the point of not being able to see the truth.

"I'm back, tomorrow I'll come to check her condition again," said Jagad stepping out past Renata. When Jagad passed Renata, his footsteps stopped. "Have fun as much as you can, smile. I'll make Jagad re-investigate Amaira's death case so that your crime will be exposed," Jagad whispered making Renata round her eyes.

After saying that to Renata, Jagad stepped out. He had to go back home and meet his sister who was too late.

"What did Jagad say?" asked Melvin curiously, he was curious about what Jagad said until Renata's eyes rounded perfectly.

"Ah. It's nothing, he was just joking and surprised me," Renata lied.

"Yes, already. I'll take you back to the apartment," Melvin said and took the car keys.

Renata looked towards the second floor, Danas' presence made it even more difficult for her to be by Melvin's side. What's more, Melvin was slowly starting to worry about Danas, which indicated that there was a speck of feeling in Melvin's heart for Danas.

"I want to sleep here with you," Renata said spoiled.

"You can't!"

"Why not?"

Melvin closed his eyes for a moment. "Is it because that woman is here? Is that why I can't be here?"

"Ren. Please, I don't wanna argue with you right now."

"Then let me sleep here. I usually sleep here since that woman's presence you don't let me stay at all."

"As you wish. You can sleep in your usual room, I'll sleep in mine," Melvin said and put the car keys back on the table.

Melvin was really tired of arguing with Renata about Danas' presence. He thought, Renata could understand his actions but she didn't understand his actions at all. In fact, she even turned on him about the wedding.

"Danas, Bitch! Just look at what I'm gonna do to you. You think I'm gonna stand by and watch you take Melvin's heart? No, I won't. I'll never let you," Renata grumbled and went inside her usual room.

The door slammed very loudly when Jagad had just returned, making Tania startled.

"Jagad, how-"

"Davina!" Jagad shouted from downstairs. "Davina. Come down, I wanna talk to you." Jagad once again shouted for her to come down.

"Jagad, what's wrong with you shouting like that?"

Davina who was in the room hearing Jagad's voice calling her came down.

"You're bothering me."

"How can you go too far, letting your own friend wait in the rain."

"It's her own fault, why did she wait for me? No one asked her to wait for me."

"Davina!" Jagad's shrill voice filled the entire living room.
