Chapter 29: Chapter 29

Danas was told by Christina that Melvin had come to the house earlier. She asked about them being stopped by thugs on their way home from the market. Danas had just entered and was about to get some water when the maid approached her.

"Madam, Mr. Melvin came home earlier. He's looking for you, ma'am."

Christina's words made Danas who was drinking water choke. She hurriedly coughed and caught her breath. "What? Melvin came home looking for me. Did something happen?

"Yes, ma'am. You know that we encountered thugs and had a near miss."

"Shit, how does he know?" Now it was Danas who didn't like the fact that any information about her would reach her ears. He was always watching her everywhere.

"It looks like you found out from Rangga," Christina said that because she saw Melvin coming to the house with Rangga.

Danas sighed and sat down sluggishly. This day had been exhausting. Body and soul, there were unexpected events that she experienced. When she heard that Melvin knew about the thugs, Danas became even more tired.

"Chris, is he angry?" Danas asked while biting her lip. She was afraid that Melvin would get angry. When he got angry, her husband seemed to turn into a savage demon.

Christina quickly nodded and sat down in front of Danas. "He's angry, ma'am. So angry that he's throwing a tantrum!"

Danas glared at her. "Oh yeah? To the point of rage?! That's bad!"

Danas could imagine how angry Melvin was. Now her body was getting more and more tired. She was preparing to face her husband's anger if she met him later.

Christina, who saw Danas getting agitated, hurriedly explained. "Master is not angry with Madame, but he's angry with those criminals. He's actually very worried about Madame."

"What? Worried about me? Seriously. Hahaha!" Danas actually laughed at Christina's statement. Since when did Melvin care about her? He would be happy to see her suffer.

"That's right, ma'am. Mr. Melvin is so worried. The proof is that he came straight home even though he was in the office."

"Maybe he came home just to see me suffer, Bi." Danas' words were harsh. He didn't believe that Melvin cared about him at all, let alone felt sorry for him.

Christina was still trying to convince Danas. Somehow it was as if she wanted to show Danas another side of her employer this time. "I really mean it, ma'am. Mr. Melvin even sent people to look for those thugs."

Both of Danas' eyes widened in disbelief. She leaned forward, she wanted to know more of what Melvin was doing. "Sir is looking for those thugs?"

Christina again nodded as she shifted her chair slightly. "Yes. Rangga's men immediately moved after the criminals."

"Are you serious, Bi? They can be finished off just as soon as Rangga's men get to work." Danas squeezed her fingers, it was her turn to feel anxious. The problem would turn out to be even longer if Melvin had intervened.

"I heard they were beaten up. After being beaten, they were left by the side of the road." Chris, who had heard the story from our Rangga, told it to Danas again.

"Oh, God! What a terrible mess. What if they take revenge on me?" Danas' face looked even grimmer. She didn't expect the incident to go anywhere.

"I don't think they'll take revenge. Rangga deliberately made them helpless so that they would be discouraged by his actions." Christina tried to give the most reasonable answer.

Danas shook her head, she couldn't understand. Christina felt sorry for her. "Madam, have you eaten yet? Can I get you something to eat?"

Danas remembered that she hadn't eaten all day. Her stomach was hungry but her appetite seemed to be gone. The incident this morning plus now at home getting unpleasant news made her lazy.

"I'm lazy to eat, Chris," Danas said while leaning limply on the back of her chair. Danas really felt exhausted, wanting peace but not knowing where to look for it.

"Then Madam should still eat. It's not good to keep indulging in that lazy feeling." It was Christina who was now the chatty one. Among the many maids in Melvin's house, she was the closest to Danas.

" Wait a bit, Chris. I wanna sit down first," Danas said as she stretched her legs. She then looked at Christina's face. "How's Christina's head now? Is your head still dizzy?"

Danas asked because she remembered that this morning Christina fainted and had to be taken to the hospital. The bruise was still visible on her forehead.

"It hurts just a bit, madam." Christina felt her head. The pain from hitting the rock was still there but she tried to ignore it. She thought it would heal itself if she got enough rest.

"You shouldn't work right away, just lie down first. It's dangerous if you forget to hit your head," Danas said, sympathizing with Christina's condition.

Christina just smiled a little. This was what she liked about Danas. Her employer was sensitive and caring. He wasn't arbitrary and bossy.

"But I'm okay, Madam. I've been given medicine and also had my head checked. It's fine." Christina still stood by her opinion.

"You can't do that, Chris. There, just rest first," Danas ordered. She saw that a middle-aged woman like Christina would definitely need a longer healing time. It wasn't just her who was traumatized but Christina as well.

"Yes, Madam. After you eat, I want to rest," Christina said. She then moved to get up to get some food.

But Christina's movement stopped when she saw Melvin appear behind Danas. Christina was surprised and immediately bowed her head. "Apologize, Madam. Let me get the food now."

Christina said in a formal tone. Danas furrowed her brow. Why did the maid suddenly change her attitude? "What's wrong, Chris? Why are you so scared?"

Danas didn't know that Melvin was already behind her. Christina didn't answer, she quickly stepped away from the dining table and hurriedly went to the kitchen to get some food.

"That's strange, Christina," Danas muttered. She thought it was the bump on Christina's head that made her behave strangely.

"Ehem!"

The deafening sound behind Danas startled her. She turned her head back and found Melvin already standing there. The man was looking at her with a cold gaze.

Danas' whole body instantly felt fear and trembled. Since when was Melvin standing there? Was he listening to his conversation with Christina earlier? That's bad!

"Uhm. Uh, are you back?" asked Danas as he got up from his seat.

"Hmm, yes! You've had enough gossip?"

Melvin's answer was like an ice cube dropped on Danas' head. Cold and painful.
