Chapter 14: Chapter 14
"What are you talking about?"
Danas looked at the man beside her. There was a hint of fear in Danas' eyes when Melvin asked her.
"Are you dumb all of a sudden, after you laughed so contentedly with that girl?"
"Alexa Amareta-her name."
"So her name is Alexa." Melvin nodded slowly.
"She just tells funny stories, that's all."
Melvin looked at the woman he was with as if he couldn't believe what Danas was saying. A look was full of investigation.
" She was asking, when did we meet and fall in love but I didn't answer her."
"I knew it, she would've approached you to ask something like that. Don't meet her again, she has bad intentions of finding out about our relationship."
Danas looked down for a moment, then looked out the window.
Melvin's words, made her realize one thing if their relationship was not worthy of being publicized by many people. Being Melvin's wife was a problem for her, and she knew it.
Outside there, there are so many women who want the position she occupies. Sighing softly, closing her eyes, and resting her head against the car window, she fell asleep from exhaustion.
"Sir, it looks like Madame is asleep," said the man who had been driving quietly watching Danas through the glass.
Rangga - Melvin's assistant, the man who knew everything about the couple sitting in the back seat. He also knew the reason why Danas became Melvin's bride.
He knew everything about Melvin's treatment of that woman. His boss only wanted to make that girl's life miserable. Although, she regretted that her boss didn't see Danas as a woman or someone who was made to suffer.
Melvin who was closing his eyes, waking up his arm on the armrest glanced at the sleeping Danas. The man didn't do anything, his hazel eyes were watching Danas.
When he saw that she was not wearing a suit or blanket, he took off the suit he was wearing and put it on his wife. There was something that moved him to do that.
He was now watching Danas from a close distance, ruffling the girl's hair that covered her face, what he was doing made her neck visible. Instantly he moved his body away, he was afraid to be tempted by the minty scent and the sweet vanilla aroma that the girl had.
"From now you always have a blanket in the car, I hate taking off my suit," Melvin said.
The driver became an outlet for his frustration, while the man could only frown.
"Go back home right away," Melvin ordered, with his eyes closed.
He opened his eyes occasionally, a strange feeling inside him made him glance at the girl beside him, shook his head, then closed his eyes again.
"No... no... I won't touch her," he thought to himself.
Frustrated, he loosened his tie and undid one top button of his shirt."Are you okay, sir?"
"It's nothing, just a lil' hot."
" Shall I turn on the air conditioner?" asked Rangga, the man was ready to turn on the car's air conditioner.
Melvin glanced at Danas, he was asleep.
"No problem, Rangga. Please just pick up the pace of the car!"
Rangga looked through the glass at the two people at the back. Nothing like a romantic couple, any romantic thing that happens in public, is a charade.
"Look at the road, don't take your eyes off it or you'll get me into a hospital bed, or an operating room."
Rangga who is being reprimanded by him could only hold back his laughter, making Melvin open his eyes.
" You laughing at me, Rangga?"
Rangga shakes his head.
"'Once you laugh at me again, I'll cut your salary,' Melvin threatened."
"Sir. How can you be so mean to me. If you deduct my salary, I'll be behind on my mortgage, motorcycle loan, credit cards, and I won't be able to buy anything for my girlfriend either."
Melvin frowned. " Since when did you pay for all that, I thought you were a single guy with no girlfriend, living with my parents, eating and sleeping, and helping me at the company."
"I need to be self-sufficient and I never told you that, because you didn't ask."
A few small talks made them unaware that they had arrived at the mansion. Rangga opened the car door, while Melvin carried Danas inside.
"You'll regret it someday, sir. I'm sure you'll fall in love with her, and when that time comes, God will surely punish you," Rangga muttered softly, when his boss was already inside the house. "Ah, I can't believe I'm saying something like this," he grumbled as he got back in the car.
Vaguely, Danas saw the man who opened her eyes, she could see Melvin's face from the side, sharp nose, hard jaw. When Melvin glanced at her, she closed her eyes again, she didn't want him to be angry with her, especially now that she was in Melvin's arms.
Melvin's footsteps rose slowly on the stairs in rhythm with the beating of her heart, there was a burning desire, wanting to be completed, occasionally she glanced at Danas who was in her arms.
Clek!
The man combed through the room occupied by Danas, nothing fancy, but it felt cozy there. The woman was utilizing items that could be used. Melvin put Danas on the bed gently, then put on a blanket for the woman.
The hair that had covered Danas' face was now shaken out to reveal a sleeping face, he took a moment to look carefully at the girl's face, then took a few steps back and left the room.
"Oh, Shit, is she using magic to make me attracted to her?" he swore at the door of the room.
His footsteps quickened, entering the room, heading for the bathroom.
Turning on the shower, letting his body get wet still with his clothes wrapped around him.
Clad in his bathrobe, the small towel he was using to dry his hair, he looked at his body in the reflection of the dewy mirror.
Zzttt...
Now his face was visible in the mirror.
"I'm not touching her," he said once more, stepping out of the bathroom.
He reached for the cell phone on the nightstand, but there were no chats or calls on it, making him flop down on his bed.
"Where are you? Why are you doing all this to me?" he asked while staring at the ceiling. "You should have told me, if you didn't want to get married, instead of leaving me like this, making me tormented and having to marry that girl."
Melvin covered his eyes with his forearms. Tears welled up at the edges of his eyes.
"You have to come back to me, Renata, and explain everything. I'll find you," he said.
Rangga rushed out of the car, bumping into several people as he entered the office.
" Excuse me... Apologies, give me the way. I'm in a hurry," Rangga said.
Brak!
The man in the room looked at him. He was breathing heavily, coming closer to his superior.
"Rangga, what's wrong? Something happened?"
"Sir, it's bad."
Melvin furrowed his brow.
"Miss Renata is not in the apartment."
