Chapter 213: Chapter 213
The man did not say anything. But it was evident in his facial expressions that he was fighting against himself.
“I wonder what would make things easier for you to tell me whatever I need to know,” Brianna said as she dialed Jack’s private number and put their phone conversation on speaker.
“He has someone special admitted as one of the patients in the Intensive Care Unit in the local government hospital and another someone in the nursing home of Saint Augustine Facility Center,” Jack did not dally to tell Brianna what she called for.
Lucien was also listening to their conversation from his designated position while Brianna was away. And Lucien was amazed to notice once again that Anna and Jack indeed have an impressive teamwork rapport. Lucien could testify along with everyone else around them, near and far, that Brianna did not even ask Jack to dig into the background of the person in question. Jack had not even seen the man in person but through the angles, he found a clear shot to run for facial recognition and find out everything he could find to feed Brianna with the information.
The man did want to show his eyes knowing they will tell all if not most of what he is trying to hide from these people who captured him and his team. He had been warned, the moment he speaks whatever he is not supposed to say, his loved ones will be in grave danger.
“I can assure you, there is more we know about you, and your dear ones, but why drag them into this if you can tell me what I need to know from you, right?” Brianna shrugged her shoulders. “You have three minutes and forty-seven seconds to tell me who sent you here.”
Brianna had set the timer according to Lucien’s demand earlier. Brianna could see the clear doubts in the man’s mien.
“I won’t touch your family like I said if you do not disappoint me. And that is by telling me what I want to know. We could find this matte on our own, but since you fall like a bird into our trap, why not make use of this chance, eh? I am not as wicked as your sender, because I am worst, may I remind you that. Two minutes and twenty-eight seconds!”
“B, I found some familiar faces in the mentioned medical institution. I think his family is also being watched,” Jack stated.
Brianna stared at the man while listening to Jack over the phone on speaker. Brianna saw the fear in the captive’s eyes intensify. He must have been warned or threatened to harm his family the moment he betray whoever sent him here.
“Whoever sent you here will soon find out you are under my hands, and whether you are dead or alive, they will not hesitate to harm your family once they realize I am interrogating you. They won’t even bother to confirm if you told me anything or not. But I am willing to send some of my men to keep your child and your father safe in both locations. If they are still alive when my men get there, they will remain that way as long as you cooperate. Because this offer won’t stay for long. Ten seconds left for you to decide!” Brianna spoke nonchalantly.
The man had made up his mind even before the woman finished her words. He was not in full agreement with the one who hired his team. They were hired to do a task but he realized there was more to it than they have agreed. And when they tried to decline, their family were threatened to be harmed. The payment promised was one thing they could let go of, but the mention of their loved ones was beyond terrifying. Yet again, they had no choice. Their system had been hacked and all important details and files were exposed to their client-turned-enemy.
“Charles Anderson.”
The only word the man said. But it was enough for Brianna.
“Enzo we need men to send to the hospitals Jack had mentioned earlier,” Brianna announced. Then she started to walk out of the room. Tatum hurriedly chased her.
“Boss, is that all you need from him?” Tatum asked cautiously.
“Yeah. But don’t leave his side. In about a few minutes, he will start blabbering everything he knows. Ask him whatever you think is useful for us,” Brianna answered. “I need to get back.”
Brianna was confident that the truth serum would work. She just had to see if the man was someone after her personally or just someone pushed to do as ordered because his family will be in danger. Brianna was glad to realize that the man seemed unfamiliar to her, they mustn’t have crossed paths before today.
“Charles must have been desperate to find people who would take his orders. I wonder what tricks he had done to have these men,” Brianna thought as she walked back to the control room.
Brianna had traced every agency that Charles Anderson had connections with when she found out Charles had been fooling and using her. Brianna could not forgive was the fact that Charles knew the whole truth about her family’s tragedy years back and chose to hide it from Brianna and misled her to believe her enemy was Leandro Michaelson. Brianna met the people associated with Charles and asked them if they want to be friends with her or enemies, they get to decide, but whoever chooses the latter ended up shot just like Brianna did to Charles. This was the reason why no one wanted to do anything with Charles Anderson, even when he tried to contact each and every one of them. They were all aware, Anderson could only make his voice loud and firm because of Big B, since they were no longer on the same side, it was wiser to choose to be on Big B’s side than stick to Charles Anderson.
“I was just about to go after you,” Lucien welcomed Brianna as soon as she stepped into the room. “Nice to have you back. Did you get what you went there for?” Lucien asked as he assisted Brianna to sit on her chair.
“I am not so sure,” Brianna answered, ignoring the silly sound of Lucien’s words as soon as she arrived. Brianna realized the more she reprimands this guy, the cheesier he would get. But as Lucien’s question registered in her mind, Brianna fell into silent thought.
“IT team, what have we got from our invaders’ network? Do we know who sent them? Charles Anderson is confirmed, who else do we expect?” Brianna asked with her eyes staring blankly at Lucien.
“We are tracing another connection…” Jack answered with a pause.
“I believe its location says “State Prison” according to the map,” another IT staff answered from Enzo’s team.
“State Prison?” Asked Brianna. “Could it be…?”
When Jack paused earlier, it was only his words that did, because as soon as he got a clear sight of the location they were being directed, he checked the possible people they have for enemies that would have been in the area. And he found the answer as quick as a snap of a finger.
“It’s Terrence Clayton, Brei, he is living like a king in that prison,” Jack answered, confirming Brianna’s suspicions. “Open the link I sent you.”
Brianna did as soon as she got the link Jack was referring to. Enzo and Andy’s IT team also got the link and they all saw a man leisurely having his tea in front of a camera. The man they were watching doesn’t seem to know he is being seen. Jack had penetrated the network of Terrence Clayton’s laptop and hacked into its camera online.
“What do you have in mind?” Asked Lucien when he saw Anna frowning.
“Since we know who the enemies are, I am thinking about avoiding beating around the bush and hitting the pot with a hard blow,” Brianna answered.
“How?” Lucien asked again.
Everyone else was silent but attentively listening to every word Brianna would say for her answer.
“The IT team already has the locations. We just need to go there, seize the King, and checkmate. Game over!” Brianna answered.
“They will notice if we move from here. Charles had already sent people, I am sure they have eyes on every corner already,” Jack argued.
“Not unless we cut their communication and deal with the people Charles had sent. I am confident we got them outnumbered,” Andy also gave his suggestion.
“Blake, can you deal with the rest of the intruders?” Brianna asked.
“I have men positioned behind a few men with sniper guns, I am guessing their order is to take the shot from the distance. And from our spot, we can clearly see if a new batch of people is coming as their backup,” Blake answered firmly.
“Are they using old fashion long guns?” Lucien asked.
“Based on the looks of their weapons, I am not sure but they look like the new models of internet-operated Sniper rifles,” Blake Gordon answered.
“They would still have spares, but it would still be worth a try to disrupt them by jamming their network,” Lucien nodded as he stood behind Brianna and tried to explain the strategic plans he had in mind.
