Chapter 212: Chapter 212
“We are in!”
The team leader to attack the wedding event sent by Charles reported when they reached the area Charles had clearly pointed on the map on their rundown. It was a distance accessible enough for the snipers to take a clear shot from a distance, even if the target would only look like a dot from the lenses of the sniper rifle.
Their plan was to take down the targets but to make sure they do the job, two teams were sent out. One team will take different positions to take the shots while the other team will have to find its way to get close and identify their targets, then by using invisible laser light, the snipers will know who to aim at according to the color that would appear on their lenses.
“Do you notice anything weird?” Asked Charles.
“None so far, sir!” Answered the man.
“That is the weird part!” Charles frowned.
He had seen through the cameras installed in their men’s gear that everything seemed to be casual and normal. There were people guarding the paths their men took to invade the area. Although they tried to fight back and secure their posts, Charles’ sent men were still able to pass through them without making their presence exposed. Charles still asked since it would have been different for someone behind the monitor and those that are actually in the field.
“They must have had their guards down. It’s a wedding, after all!” Terrence Clayton said in a contemptuous tone after having a sip of his tea.
Charles did not agree, but he had no way to explain that is not how he felt without supporting details. Charles only had his intuition that with Brianna by the Michaelsons’ side, with her knowing almost always a step ahead of every game, there was no way she would leave a chance for their enemies to walk into the party uninvitedly.
“Let’s not do the same if they are letting their guards down,” Charles firmly stated.
“We are about to enter the building,” the man reported. Then he ordered his men to move in.
Charles and Terrence could see the surroundings that their men’s cameras could capture and hear the sounds of everything around them before they seemed to have jumped into something. The screens turned all black for about ten seconds and when resumed, it only showed the last vision at pause. No audio.
“What is going on?!” Charles asked angrily, but as his voice raised, his right hand grabbed his chest which seemed to be struck with sudden sharp pain. Charles had to rub his palm on it to calm his emotions down and with so much difficulty, he tried to take a sip of water from the glass right beside him.
But there was no answer.
“Sniper team, what do you see?” Charles asked again, this time, he was calmer.
“I do not see anything different from earlier, sir!” The team leader of the Sniper team replied formally.
“Can you see anyone from the other team?” Charles asked again. “I cannot connect with anyone from them.”
“Negative, sir, the last sight I had of them was before they went into the building,” the sniper team leader answered. He did not move his eyes off his lens and kept tracking the team but just like he told Charles, he had no sight of them no matter how he tried to change his aim from angle to angle.
No communication of any kind was possible.
“I will send another team, hold on!” Charles announced after a thought.
In all these, Terrence Clayton was leisurely watching and listening. Terrence did not say anything to comment, suggest, or interrupt Charles Anderson, Terrence was confident this old fox was not going to let things go down the drain. Charles Anderson hates the Michaelsons as much as Terrence did, so he enjoyed drinking his tea while watching everything unfold before his eyes.
While Charles Anderson and the sniper team were waiting for the other team to get close to their targets, the men they sent at first were already in the hands of the Michaelsons. Tatum Eliott had them bound while unconscious the moment they stepped into the walls of the building. They already had eyes on every invader stealthily breaking into the area, so they only waited for that brief moment when they would disappear from the eyes of anyone watching these men’s every move, and at the same time their internet connection disappeared, Tatum signaled his comrades to take the enemies down without making a noticeable sound. When they regained consciousness, they realized they were already naked, bound to chairs individually, and gagged tightly.
“I will be right back,” Brianna declared as she stands from her chair.
“Don’t take too long,” Lucien replied. “You know I’d miss you if you do, I will go searching for you if you aren’t back in ten minutes. I am serious, babe. I am.”
Lucien looked Brianna straight in the eyes as he firmly said his honest thoughts, loud and clear for everyone to hear and see. Brianna was not surprised to hear Lucien say those words, but she could not help rolling her eyes at him.
For Brianna, it sounded silly, but she had given up reprimanding this adorable man whenever he would worry about her, in any kind or form of expression. She also finds it funny that this kind of behavior does not make Lucien any less of a man, but impressively annoying and sweet at the same time. But as they seemed to get to know and get used to being with each other, Brianna was amazed to find herself tolerating such doltish nature of this doting man.
“And I will collect from you if I get here earlier than that!” Brianna replied as she walked out of the control room. Then she made her orders to the men guarding the doors outside the room. “If anything happens to that man inside there, you will all answer to me. Are we clear?”
“Yes, Boss!” everyone answered snappily.
But the moment the lady disappeared their sights, they all exchanged grins at how the couple would express their love and adoration for each other in and out of their presence. And it was no different for everyone who could witness the two, even for Leandro and Andy on their spots. It made everyone smile despite the fact that they were in a war, although a war with a promising victory ahead of them.
But most of all, Lucien was beyond over the rainbow. He felt like his heart took a leap reaching up to the moon and just bounced back into his chest. His Anna was not usually expressive of her emotions like most women, but maybe along with her mastered and mustered patience, she had been able to tolerate him and retort in ways that she may not be aware of how cute she appeared to be.
Brianna arrived at the room where Tatum kept the captives.
“What do we have here?”
“Boss, he seems to be the leader of this team,” Tatum answered as he grabbed the hair of the man from behind to make the captive see Brianna clearly. Tatum could tell Boss B had some questions as for the reasons why she came all the way here.
“Good that we know who to try this newly created truth serum and find out its efficiency and effectivity,” Brianna answered as she pulled a metal box with a size of an eyeglasses case out of her combat gear pants’ side pocket.
No one knew about this trick. Everyone around Brianna, including Tatum, not to mention the man on the red seat, was having different reactions. Amazement, for some, fear and doubts for others.
“Shall we try it with the second in command first?” Tatum suggested. “I am afraid he’d die and the possibility that he might be the only one to tell whatever information you are after is quite bothering, Boss, just a suggestion, though,” he added respectfully.
Tatum knew he had a point and it was inarguable, but he did not want to offend the lady, he respects her ways, but he did not want to regret later about not letting her know of his opinions.
“Thanks for the heads up, but I don’t have much time to spend here or else….” Brianna shook her head. “But don’t worry, if this one kills him, well, let’s just say the lab people who created this serum failed. They will have to create a new formula. But we won’t know until we get it tested, right?”
As Brianna spoke to explain, she did not waste time and injected the serum into the man Tatum said was the team leader of these invaders. After making sure the syringe was empty, Brianna stared at her wristwatch to check the time and with a snap of a finger, she started asking.
“Who sent you here?”
