Chapter 211: Chapter 211

The moment the enemies started to make their moves within the area under the radar, every one of Brianna’s and the Michaelsons’ men was well-informed and guided on what to do.

“Don’t make any advances. Let them walk into the trap,” Brianna was in her owl-like mode as she keenly observed every screen waiting where the unwanted guests would take their way into the “wedding” that they have prepared as bait.

Everyone affirmed they got the orders loud and clear.

“IT team, are we ready?” Brianna asked Jack and Enzo in particular without mentioning their names through a private line.

“Yes, B! We have set everything just as you had ordered,” Jack answered formally. Jack was not worried about anything but he was upset to think that such a big day in Brianna’s life would be threatened this way. It was not sitting well with him at all, despite the fact that they could provide excellent security. It was somehow heartbreaking that they could not fully enjoy such a joyous moment because he himself would always have to watch her back in order to make sure his little sissy is safe from any surprise attacks or whatever unfortunate events that may occur on her big day.

“Yes, Young Madame,” Enzo answered with due regard toward Brianna as the newest member of the Michaelsons. “As soon as an unidentified network steps into the area, our installed selective jammer will shut them down to any communications they have.”

“Would it be possible to hack into their networks first before we shut them down, so we would know how to trace and find out who sent them?” Brianna asked again.

“We can do that before they reach the jammers. I already ask some of our men to install network detectors a few meters ahead of the jammers so we can get into their network, check and hack it before getting jammed,” Jack answered confidently.

When Brianna asked if they could do something about the possibility of their intruders being wired to satisfy whoever sent them to do the job, Jack had been thinking about how he could penetrate the communication system of their enemies. If Charles Anderson is behind this attack, among with whoever he had asked for help to leave the safe house, Jack Foster had anticipated some patterns Charles would order him to do behind the computers to manipulate the network of the other parties while Brianna and her team would deal with them in the field. So, Jack had prepared a network detector in advance and gave a few of them to men who he knew would be assigned to take posts in different directions.

“Thanks, Jack!” Brianna smirked. “You never fail to amaze me with your talents. Let’s get these assholes off our backs and get rid of them for good!” she added with immense determination.

“Yes, let’s get rid of these devils on earth for good!” Jack agreed.

“Enzo, how is Don Leon?” Brianna asked.

But before Enzo could ever answer, someone’s voice was heard from the background.

“Babe, you will break his heart by still calling him that way,” Lucien butted in as soon as he heard the way Brianna addressed his grandpa. “That poor old man is dying to hear you call him grandpa more than his own grandson, you know that, right?”

Brianna rolled her eyes. She wanted to nag at him about why would Lucien say those words at the moment. They were not alone, Lucien is somehow making Brianna feel she was in an odd position. It was not much of a deal to call Leandro Michaelson grandpa like every granddaughter-in-law is supposed to do, but they were at work! It was no different from a mission. The formality was somehow called for, in Brianna’s defense.

Lucien knew not everyone could hear him say so, but there was still a lot who could. From the team of IT in the control room where they were at the moment, to the team along with Jack and Enzo, but most of all, the old Michaelson himself could hear their conversation from the monitor room in General Lockwood’s place.

Lucien and Brianna did not want the old Michaelson to be somewhere their enemies would suspect of his whereabouts once they find out the people in the wedding ceremony were just dummies, so they suggested he stayed with General Andy Lockwood, who expressed he strongly agree with the idea and brought the Don to his place.

“Don’t worry, Luci, I can wait,” Leandro warmly stated. “I don’t think I deserve such a title to be called if I can’t even make your wedding a safe and enjoyable event in your lives,” he felt so sorry for the youngsters.

“Grandpa!” Lucien exclaimed.

“We will put a dot on that today, Don Leon. I give you my word,” Brianna replied. Then she called out. “Can anyone get this young Michaelson out of my side? He is starting to piss me off and lose focus on what I am supposed to do!” Brianna sneered and squinted her eyes glaring at Lucien.

“Babe?!” Lucien blurted in disbelief.

But Brianna ignored him and continued to rant while checking the monitors.

“We aren’t married yet, don’t make it sound like I already have the right to address the old Michaelson like a granddaughter-in-law! That’s presumptuous!”

“Babe!?” Lucien was totally at a loss for words.

“Don’t you agree, grandpa?” Brianna did not even give Lucien a glance as she busied herself with monitoring every angle that the camera lenses could cover by rotating them through a controller.

A grave silence seemed to replace the sound of bickering between Brianna and Lucien. No one from any of the two, including everyone that had access to the line of the conversation going on made even the tiniest sound for a whole minute or so.

Brianna herself was taken aback to say the last word that slipped off her lips. She had longed to feel she belonged to a family like every girl would and should be. She even had a few silly times when she would imagine herself as a granddaughter to Leandro Michaelson while in meditation. She wanted to visualize how to act and react as a grandchild to a grandparent and a daughter to her soon-to-be parents-in-law.

Enzo, Jack, and everyone on the IT team held their breath as if the imperceptible sound of it would ruin the very concise but wonderful moment. While Andy had his hands covering his mouth as he bit his tongue not to make his cry heard out loud. Andy was genuinely happy for both his Little Liz and his very good friend Leon, for such a heartfelt moment.

Like Lucien, Leandro’s breath was taken away when he heard Anna ask if he agreed with her. It sounded so marvelous although the word had been something he has heard his grandson calling him ever since he was able to speak after birth.

“I agree!” Leandro answered after briefly clearing his throat, trying to hide how shaky he might sound with all the astounding emotion he was feeling hearing such a very simple word from Anna. Then the old Michaelson pretended to scold Lucien. “You get your ass out of there, Luci, if you are just going to bother her, do I make myself clear?”

Lucien made a heart sign facing Brianna after he pulled her chair to make it turn around and face him.

“Sir, yes, sir!” Lucien happily replied to his grandfather. Then he mouthed to a glaring but somehow looking embarrassed face of Anna. “I love you!”

Brianna felt helpless. She wanted to nag at herself for that sudden slip of the tongue, but what use could it get her now? What was said was already said. She just has to go on with the more important task before their faces and hopefully, they start anew after all these threats and chaos being tossed into their lives.

And just as Brianna was about to say what she saw in a specific direction, Blake Gordon beat her to it.

“Boss, we have movements coming from all directions.”

“Identify their exact locations and let our men stand by, keep a close watch. I repeat, do not attack, but do not hesitate to fight back if necessary,” Brianna answered.

Brianna was not worried her men or anyone from under her command would disappoint her in whatever she meant with the orders she had given. They all had been along over time since she joined forces with the Michaelsons, so everyone knew her enough already.

“Luci, keep an eye on the resthouse, the LM Building, and Casino. Whoever is doing this might have thought about distracting us and attack where they think we are not watching. You know what to do if you see anything out of the ordinary.”

“Got it, babe,” Lucien answered firmly.

The way Lucien would call Brianna had never changed even when they were in situations like what they were in at the moment. But everyone around, present or not yet could hear his words, can tell that Lucien Michaelson, a head-over-heels, whipped lover to Boss B, was not playing around when Brianna gave the tasks to be done.

Brianna gave Lucien and everyone around her a firm nod and turned on the mic to make her words heard by every one of their men.
