Chapter 207: Chapter 207
While the two couples were in the beach resort, they had a brainstorm about what they should do best in their situation. But most certainly not before Brianna expressed her sincerest apologies to Sandra for firing a T-gun on her before they even get the chance to introduce each other formally.
“I was surprised, I won’t deny that…” Sandra answered. “But I am more grateful you came your way to rescue us. I cannot imagine myself doing the same thing for my father-in-law had the situation been any different,” Sandra smiled sheepishly as she stated, then turned to her husband. “I am sorry, honey….” she apologized sweetly.
“You won’t have to, I am sure of that,” Brianna answered confidently.
“I agree with her, sweetheart,” Levi assured his wife. “We all have different skills and talents, yours is being a neurosurgeon. While Anna here is talented and amazingly competent on the battlefield, I believe you both have your charms in your own way. Right, Luci?”
“Absolutely, dad,” Lucien nodded his head as he agreed. “We are glad to realize the situation as soon as we did. Did you know grandpa wanted to speak with you in the morning to discuss our wedding?”
“Ahhhmmm, Lucien? I don’t think that topic is appropriate to bring out for now,” Brianna pinned her glare on Lucien, trying to send a warning to make him stop blabbering nonsense.
“For real?” Levi and Sandra reacted gleefully in unison. “Wedding!?”
Brianna did not expect the Michaelson couple would react the way they did, so she was taken a little aback. She was not even confident to interpret if Lucien’s parents were happy and excited or negatively in disbelief and upset.
“Uhhmmm,” Brianna wanted to explain or say something to assure the parents that they actually have the last say on this topic. Because if they think this wedding should not take place, then Brianna was not going to insist. But no words got to exit her lips before Lucien said her thoughts almost exactly and accurately.
“But she said if you guys don’t think we go on with our ideas about being official and legally married, Anna here is willing to walk away. She declared those words to grandpa right in front of me….” Lucien pouted as if he was like a little boy bullied by her.
“What?!” Sandra exclaimed. “Oh, we would never stand in the way of your happiness. Right, honey?” the mother turned to her husband.
“We have been looking forward to the day we will be sitting at a table to discuss such joyful matters but fate seemed to have plans otherwise,” Levi answered, grinning back at his wife as they seemed to have pictured such events in their minds as they thought about their son having a family of his own. “And she is right, dear,” Levi turned to Brianna with a gentle smile. “We will never stand in the way of our son and his future’s happiness. And I am proud to know that you are in that picture so wonderfully amazingly. Our Luci here loves you so much we cannot deny admitting that you occupy a huge part of his heart, mind, and soul. Don’t you think so, too, honey?” Levi turned to Sandr again.
The parents shared a joyful laugh. Lucien shook his head as he felt naked in the eyes of his woman hearing everything his dad and mom has just said.
“I am an orphan,” Brianna stated casually.
“It doesn’t matter now,” Sandra replied. “We will be your family. And we would love to have you, too.”
“I am not proud of what I used to do, not that I had a choice to do otherwise, but I do the exact opposite to your professions. Although I think I am saving others’ lives by terminating the wicked, the reality of it that I am a killer does not change,” Brianna stated without hesitations, no pretense, and honesty were beyond potent in her words. Even if she did not say the words, her intention to express she was not proud of herself did not get unnoticed by the three people in front of her.
“Lucien had told us everything we needed to know about you, sweetie,” Sandra reached her right hand to hold Brianna’s right arm. “We just hope you won’t judge us and think we won’t want to have you as our daughter-in-law. As far as I can recall, if it wasn’t for you, we would have lost Lucien already during that car collision on the side of the road on your first day meeting him.”
“I am ashamed to say that I just did it without a thought. My reflexes worked before my brain could process the action,” Brianna bowed her head.
“I also take it as fate playing its part in the story you and my son were supposed to create for our grandchildren to hear one day when they ask you to tell them about your love story and how you first met,” Levi said. “Lucien did the same to us when he was growing up as he would always see us sweet and loving to each other despite petty quarrels, which, may I add, I have never won one, ever!”
The couple laughed and Lucien joined in as he could recall in the back of his mind how the two, his parents, would look like when they were having quarrels over the years.
The family’s laughter made Brianna smile along with them. The pure joy in their faces and laughter was so contagious, it was too challenging to suppress a warm smile for Brianna. Lucien embraced Brianna sideways as they sat side by side on the single sofa chair while Sandra and Levi were sitting opposite them.
“Well, if that is the case,” Brianna said after they recollected themselves from happy mirth. “May I dare suggest an idea?” she asked politely.
Lucien, Sandra, and Levi paused. They seemed to hold their breaths as they waited to hear what Anna was about to say.
“We should announce a wedding but the event will be done privately,” Brianna started to elaborate and the three were keenly listening. They raised their questions when they had something to clarify from her suggested plans. And Brianna answered every question with details, making sure no one was walking blindly to her ideas.
Leandro Michaelson did not know the plans being made by the younger and older couples. The patriarch wasn’t even completely aware of his children and grandchildren’s whereabouts to avoid leaking the information and letting their enemies know any of their moves and plans. However, Leandro also found proof that Anna was right to trust and believe her men, including Jack Foster. Leandro Michaelson apologized to Jack and ever since then, they remained their good relations and continued to join hands in keeping their families safe.
Using a burner phone, Levi called his dad. The two talked about the plans Brianna and the three of them had agreed to do.
“It’s a shame I was not even there to discuss such familial matters with you all,” Leandro said with self-pity. “We really have to put end to all these assholes trying to ruin and send us to our graves.”
“Anna said, not to worry, we will make this wedding as bait and once we deal with whoever is after us, we will hold another grand wedding with all your friends invited. This time, we have to consider everyone’s safety so it has to be done privately,” Levi assured his dad.
“Lovely! I will look forward to that grand celebration! And we will have to start rehearsing about holding such parties for when my great-grandkids come, we are celebrating every milestone!” Leandro laughed joyfully. “Oh, my heart….” he suddenly whined after busting his gut in a cheerful guffaw.
“Dad! Don’t pull that joke on me, or I will change your heart with a stallion’s!” Levi playfully nagged at his father. Making the old Michaelson bursts into laughter again.
“Okay, okay, fine. Just leave my heart alone. Your minions here are doing great in their jobs, you will turn out of a high-paying career if you insist that idea of yours on me,” Leandro defended.
“We’ll find a way to get home to you one of these days. Remember the wedding is five days from now, dad, okay?” Levi cleared his throat from laughter and reminded his dad again.
“Yes, yes. I will deal with all the arrangements just as Anna suggested. I don’t even know where you are guys, but I have faith in all of you that you will come home to me safe and sound,” the old Michaelson stated heartily.
“Bye, for now, dad. We’ll see you soon…”
