Chapter 208: Chapter 208
Although Levi made sure he told his dad that the wedding that the old man had to organize was just for a show, Lendor Michaelson did not bother to listen. Instead, he made everything extravagant. It was his grandson’s wedding, how could he take the chance to organize it the way he wishes ever so lightly? Isn’t this his only chance to do such things for his amusement?
As his first step, Leandro told Enzo to call Vicky Reed, Lucien’s most trusted chief secretary in the LM Realtors Company to announce the incoming celebration and festivities to all the company employees.
“Let the news spread but make it look like it wasn’t supposed to be told. Do you know what I mean?” Enzo casually relayed the message to Vicky Reed as Don Leon had told his assistant to tell the chief secretary.
“Does it mean, we have to make it look like a rumor spreading all over the company?” Vicky asked to clarify.
“Exactly, but we are offering double pay for that day for those who would choose to work than attend the wedding. A way for the couple and the Michaelsons to express gratitude and apologies for holding such a joyous event with the wishes to do it privately,” Enzo added.
“I understand.”
“Thank you, Vicky. I suggest you take the double pay or have a day of rest, the Young Master promised to invite you to the next event,” Enzo said nonchalantly.
Vicky Reed smiled faintly, unseen to Enzo, but the man on the other end of the phone conversation could feel the disappointment in the secretary’s voice.
“I understand. Thank you, please send my warm greetings to the boss and the bride,” Vicky politely stated.
Enzo did not explain anything to the secretary to make sure everything happens according to their plans, the plan Brianna suggested the majority of ideas and the rest of the family chipped in and agreed. Enzo could feel the sadness in Vicky Reed’s reactions even though they were just speaking over the phone, but he did not say anything to clarify her assumptions.
Levi and Lucien spoke to Don Leon, while Brianna spoke to Jack and her team about the wedding.
“Jack, I need a pair of a man and woman with the same body built as mine and Lucien,” Brianna said. “We have to reach out to them without actually and directly doing so. I mean we really have to move like a ghost. I believe you can do that,” she stated confidently.
“May I ask why are we doing all this stage play?” Jack asked with so much concern. “I don’t think the enemy, whoever they are will ever respect whatever festivities are being celebrated. And to think it is your wedding day, real or fake, I am not so comfortable imagining such chaos is about to happen on that special day.”
Brianna shook her head as she listened to Jack Foster rant his opinion. In her mind, Jack had never changed. He would always be this dramatic when it comes to decisions Brianna would make that also cover her future, not to mention her family and happiness.
Brianna was aware Jack’s words have the possibility to happen, but this way is much better than when the real big day comes and their enemies ruin it for real, real. But it was the most effective bait for whoever are against the Michaelsons and her, a Peters, to lure them out in what would seem like a defenseless occasion.
“Well, dearest Jackie,” Brianna answered humorously. “It’s because this chance would be one of the best moments in our lives where our enemies would choose to attack to ruin it. We can take this as a drill. A dry-run. And not only will we get to know what to do on the real day, but we will also get a chance to find out who is hellbent on wanting to harm us.”
Three days passed.
“I got everything ready just as Anna had detailed for me to do and prepare,” Leandro Michaelson spoke over the phone. “When are you guys showing up?”
The two sets of couples were already on their way to the wedding hall where they rented. It was a resort hotel with no other resorts nearby. And other people were allowed to stay than the Michaelsons' private army men and Brianna’s team. They served as the staff and employees. They had their designated roles and positions and everyone was wearing their working uniforms accordingly.
“We are on our way, Don Leon,” Brianna answered politely. “I believe we will get there within half an hour,” she added looking at her wristwatch.
“Luci, make sure to keep Anna safe. And Levi, make sure to bring our family home safe and sound, understood?” Leandro commanded.
The father and son in the bulletproof SUV car answered in unison.
“Yes, sir!”
Then a soft sound of laughter was heard after the call ended. The two ladies were femininely giggling at the silly sound and the look on the two men’s faces who were with them in the car.
“You know, Anna, I have never seen this side of them in my entire life. I don’t know if you would agree, but they look silly but cute at the same time. Don’t you think so?” Sandra casually stated.
Brianna smiled at the lady’s remark. She nodded but what she said next was the honest opinion she had in her mind.
“I am relieved to see you are not panicked. Or at least, even if you are, you know how to hide the feeling,” Brianna politely uttered.
“Well, maybe, because I am confident that with my husband and son around, I won’t have anything to worry about? And….” Sandra replied with a candid smile. She turned to gaze at Brianna’s face with a smile reaching the windows of Brianna’s soul, thus warming the icy-cold layers of it. “I believe in fate and destiny. Death may come like a thief in the night, but if we have lived our lives without any regrets, we are ready to face every next phase of our journey may bring along. Including death. I have loved. I have been abundantly loved and still am, actually. But maybe most of all, I believe we do not deserve such unfairness in life to die in such a savage way as criminals deserve. Plus, there is you. Right, Luci?” Then Sandra turned to her husband who was sitting beside their driver, Lucien. “What do think, honey?”
“Absolutely, right,” Lucien answered proudly. “Although I must do my best to protect my woman, I do not want to press her down but let her fly like an eagle when she wishes to do what she knows she does best. I am always right there with her. I will always be ready to protect, help, and support her.”
“As much as we are proud to be men, we are also aware not to belittle a young woman like you. But it would also be nice if you let us do the task of protecting our women. When all else fails, you take the battle for yourself, do you think that would be possible, Sweetie?” Levi turned his body sideways from his seat to face Anna who was in the backseat with Sandra.
Brianna smiled. Levi is a doctor. A heart surgeon. Brianna wanted to remind the older Michaelson of what he was saying, but she was a bit wary to offend anyone of them.
“Dad means, you are our secret weapon. So, you should let us take the front line and if we fail, then it would be your turn to, you know…?” Lucien tried to elaborate on his dad’s words for Brianna. Lucien could see from the rearview mirror that Anna’s face was struggling to hold her tongue from being straightforward. Had it been Lucien who had said Levi’s words, she would have brushed him off already, Lucien knew that very well.
