Chapter 130: Chapter 130

"Did you give me any medications?" She asked as she saw the healing process.

Anna's voice was soft and low as she checked on her wounds. Her head and jaw almost touched her chest as she bowed. She felt pain, but it wasn't unbearable. She could tolerate it, and she was convinced she could move like normal in no time after she made herself sit on the bed as soon as she woke up.

"The medics had identified the poison, and I agreed to give you the antidote despite your orders before you fainted in my arms," Lucien reasoned eagerly. "I am not sorry I did what I felt necessary, but I still want to apologize. Forgive me, please?"

Lucien spoke with his eyes looking at Anna's face. She had to look up to remind him that the light was moving away from the right spot again, but she was a bit amused at how he looked so aggrieved as he seriously waited for her response.

Brianna stared at his face for a moment, and with indifference, she nodded. He looked funny, but Brianna's face did not show even a shade of a smile. Not because she was still in pain, but because her face muscles did not recognize such reflexes. But her nod was a positive response in Lucien's understanding.

"Thank you," Lucien's heart was relieved. He had been worrying about it the whole time. The fear of her getting mad at him for disobedience, despite reasons, was clouding his mind as he waited for her to regain her consciousness. Now he was at ease that he had apologized, and she accepted his apologies. He felt like he could breathe in peace now. And he can express his joy without guilt.

"Do you want to eat anything?" Lucien asked again before he bit on the small flashlight in his mouth, covered her wound properly with new bandages, and secured the buttons of her patient's gown. When he was done and made sure Anna was dressed correctly again, he turned around to ask Clark.

"Doctor Clark Jacobs," Lucien called the young doctor in the room.

"Yes?" Clark answered with eagerness evident in his voice.

It would be the very first time he would get to introduce himself to Anna as she was always asleep every time he would get the chance to see her. And he was thrilled.

Jack Foster did not wait to be called. As soon as Clark Jacobs walked a step from his spot, Jack also vaulted from his and reached the end of the bed to greet Brianna. But before he could even say anything, Brianna frowned at him.

"What are you doing here?" she asked, sounding stern.

Lucien and Clark were startled at the tone of her voice. It wasn't what they expected from how Jack told them about Anna and Jack's growing-up memories. The two men, Lucien and Clark, were standing on both sides of the bed. Lucien was on her left while Clark had just arrived on her right side. Jack was standing on the middle of the foot end of the bed with his four fingers inside his front pockets, elbows to the sides, and smiling happily. He was smiling despite what Brianna just said, and even with how she made her thoughts delivered.

Lucien felt the need to explain something or anything to ease her mind. He did not understand why Anna would react in such a way, but he did not want to question her. So he chose to justify Jack's presence.

"He is worried about you, too. He knows so much about you, and I admit to saying that his words encouraged me to do the right things to help you recover this fast," Lucien gently stated.

Brianna closed her eyes tightly. Her actions alarmed the three men with her in the room.

"Anna, what's wrong? Clark, do something!" Lucien panicked. "Jack, please...?"

Lucien did not want to drive Jack away, but as they all saw how she reacted when she saw Jack, they all gathered the same realization that Anna did not want to see Jack Foster at the moment. They had no way to confirm if their thoughts were right or wrong, but they had to do something to stop distressing the recovering patient.

Jack understood Lucien's unspoken words. He nodded, but he did not move before saying what was inside his mind.

"B, I'm sorry, I made sure your team was settled and secured before rushing over to check on you," Jack hurriedly explained. "I was told a poisoned knife stabbed you into the chest. You cannot expect me just to wait until I hear the news of your recovery. I may not be as brave and able as Lucien Michaelson to fly on a helicopter and rescue you from the battlefield, but I can drive and find where you were brought to recuperate, so I came. They could have blocked me by the gates, but I would not leave until I get to see my little sister. You know that so well," he gently rubbed his palm on his left chest as it seemed to start aching.

He could not tell how and what she was feeling right now. Had it not been due to the temporary memory loss that she was suffering from at the moment, Jack would have been more brazen and brave to annoy her playfully. But this situation right now is not as light as they used to encounter.

Lucien gave a single nod at Clark, and the doctor guided Jack to sit on the chair next to the bed. The spot where Lucien was seated earlier and fell asleep.

"Breath in..." Clark instructed Jack. "Hold it. One, two, three... exhale." The doctor repeated the instructions a few more times before he asked Jack. "Do you have any meds to take on situations like these?"

The latter shook his head.

"I left my bottle of meds at home in my rush to leave and see B," he leaned his back to the chair and calmed himself.

The doctor quickly prepared a pack of intravenous drips, and with the bag hanging to the drip stand next to Anna's, Clark was able to expertly insert a needle on Jack's arm with the help of Lucien holding the flashlight.

"Thanks, doc!" Jack murmured. "Sorry to add me among your patients."

Clark snorted softly as he disposed of everything he had used, walking out of the door.

"While you're next to her, keep Anna company; I will get Anna something soft to eat," Lucien said casually to Jack before he turned to Anna. "Is it okay with you, Anna? If you want, I can ask Nana Freya to cook, and I will stay right here with you," Lucien gently spoke.

Anna did not respond. She just closed her eyes, and the muscled on her face could tell she was clenching her teeth.

"She must be starving. I want to speak to her alone, too," Jack fixed his gaze on Brianna as he stated his silent request to be left alone with Brianna.

"Okay, I will be back in ten minutes or fifteen, maybe," Lucien announced.

"I would like to see Tatum Elliott, sir," Anna managed to say before Lucien walked far away from the bed.

Lucien turned around to look at Anna as he nodded affirmatively to her request.

"I will be back with Tatum with me," Lucien assured Anna. Then he turned to Jack, he warned the man with a stern and strict voice. "Do not stress her out, Jack Foster, she might forgive you but I won't, do you understand?"

Jack could not help his chuckles slip out of his lips.

"Yes, yes, I know. I am not forgetting the fact that she can still strangle me to death if I annoy her," he answered.
