Chapter 128: Chapter 128
"If what this Jack Foster is saying turns out to be true..?" Andy stated what was in his mind, staring at the screen in front of them.
"I am afraid he might be right about Luci being in danger," Leandro finished Andy's words. He had the same thoughts. And his amazement and amusements about Anna's skills shook his heart in great disquietude. He has heard Jack Foster's side of the story introducing Anna's life experiences and the hatred she had been too muchly fed with over the years. A few days of temporary memory loss won't erase all of them if they happen to be embedded in the deepest part of her memory.
"What do we do?" Asked the wary grandfather. He would love for the girl to be with his grandson, his one and only, beloved, ever dearly grandson, Lucien Michaelson. But he is beyond scared to even think about how Lucien is going to survive a fierce and very capable Anna.
"I suggest we remind the medical staff to maintain a fine dosage of sedative in her medication before she regains consciousness," Enzo carefully spoke to offer his idea.
Leandro agreed with Enzo's idea, so he gave his orders to his assistant.
"Get the head of the medical team assisting Anna's condition. I want to speak with him," Leandro released a deep breath as if trying to clear his heart out of all the intoxicating emotions that seemed to drown him within his whole being.
He had never felt this much worried about anything in all his life. Maybe it is because his grandson is involved. Not only about his safety, the most that gravely scare Leandro is the fact that his dear Lucien has started to fall for this fearless, vengeful, and very much capable woman.
Enzo left to do as ordered by his master. And he returned with the doctor in duty.
"Mister Michaelson, Sir, what can I do for you?" asked the doctor in his forties.
"Is there a safe way to keep a patient sedated but won't interfere with its recovery or in regaining consciousness even with sedatives in the system?" Leandro asked as soon as the doctor got seated.
"Sir, I cannot guarantee the safety of this request," the doctor politely replied with clear honesty. "The sedative might cause the delay of her waking up if we do it now that she is still unconscious."
"We don't want her to sleep for too long, but..."
Leandro could not say that it might be too late if they waited for the patient to wake up. He could not disclose his mind to the doctor as he did not want to spread such words of Anna's identity if not necessary.
"Can you stay by her side until she regains her consciousness and give her a safe amount of sedative once you see her show signs of anger or any strong emotions?" Andy asked.
"Yes, that is possible, sir," the doctor replied.
"You cannot tell her about the sedatives; make it light, just to calm her down. Do you understand?" Leandro reminded the physician.
"Yes, sir."
"Thank you, doc!" Leandro sighed in relief.
The doctor was sent back to their occupied room next to the patients.
Leandro was somehow comforted with the idea that someone would be standing by Anna's side to assist Lucien, just in case things turn to the worst scenario possible. He asked Andy if he would like to stay for the night and ordered Enzo to prepare a room for the General next to the master's bedroom.
Andy was not comfortable leaving the place after everything he had heard about what happened to the daughter of someone he was beholden to. Even if he were in Lucien's villa, he could still do his investigations. He can always ask his men to get things he needs if there are any. Andy was excited to see Little Liz wake up and tell her everything he could tell her about her family. And hopefully, by then, they already have a clue, if not the answer itself.
"It's too late; you should take a rest, too," Andy reminded Leon. "We will start digging things tomorrow as soon as we can. I think we need to support our claim that what Little Liz was told were lies. We need to clear your name and help her turn her aim to the right people who murdered her family," Andy eagerly stated.
The two families are both important and dear to him.
It's too sad to think that they were being played, making them turn to each other, one in revenge while the other in defense, when the truth is, they have nothing to do with each other about the tragedies that happened in the past.
"I will have my rest now; hopefully, I get some with all this chaos happening right before my nose," Leandro laughed sadly.
"See you in the morning, then!" Andy nodded to Leandro then turned to Enzo. "Enzo, watch this old pal for me, okay?"
"Of course, General," Enzo curtly nodded. "Have a good rest."
They parted ways in the hallway.
In the other room...
"I can handle myself," Lucien argued. "If I die in her hands, I don't think I will regret it. She saved me a lot of times; I could have been dead by now if not for her."
Lucien spoke with a resolute mind. He was so confident he already had peace with death if it was going to happen in Anna's hands. But he was more confident to feel that Jack's fear would not eventuate. Not that he does not believe his words to be accurate, it was that his heart wants to believe in the magic of his strongest emotion for Anna.
Love? He was unsure, but he aches to express his sincerity and affections for this brave and amazing soul.
No matter what. Or come what may...
"Anyways, I am not leaving Anna," Jack declared. "I want to be around when she wakes up," he added.
Lucien did not react.
"I can also stay until she wakes up, and I can give her something to calm down if she becomes violent," Clark chimed in.
Lucien and Jack looked at each other.
They have the same thoughts playing in their minds. They thought this young doctor was foolishly offering his life to danger. Lucien and Jack knew how violent and literally deadly is the person Clark Jacobs is so confident to deal with. He might not even make it close if Brianna starts to panic and become hysterical when he is a few steps away from the patient's bed.
Their weird facial expressions bewildered Clark Jacobs. He touched his face to make sure there was nothing on it that made the two stare at him with odd mien.
"What is it again?" Clark helplessly asked. This time he made sure his voice was down, and he clearly made known his frustration and annoyance at these two men next to him.
The two shook their heads at the same time. Their moves were like robotics as they stiffly shook their heads with awful smiles plastered on their faces.
"Nothing. Right, Jack?" Lucien answered to Clark, glancing at Jack. He was trying to soothe the offended look in his good friend with the support of someone who he realized had the same reaction to his about his nice offer of help. Lucien was sure it was out of Clark's kindness of heart. Unfortunately, the poor doctor did not know the possible danger he was putting himself in the front line to.
"Yeah, nothing," Jack nodded vigorously this time, agreeing to Lucien's words. "Thank you, doc."
Jack was glad he could stay to watch over his dear little sister, while Lucien was dedicated to assisting Anna in making her recover as soon as possible, and Clark was happy to be part of all of what was going on with his best friend, Lucien.
Lucien moved to the seat he had earlier beside Anna. He watched her sleep peacefully. She seemed to have regained from the awfully pale complexion she had before Jack came to see her. Lucien realized Jack was right to ask the medical team who rescued her to know what poison invaded her body and help Anna with medication.
Jack was confident to disobey Anna's order because they already had long years spent with each other, and they knew what to do in such a disastrous situation. While he, on the other hand, was not too confident to disobey in fear that he would worsen things for her and she might suffer.
No matter how Lucien wants to deny it, Jack may turn out right in many things as he knew Anna well more than anyone else. He envies that fact, but he wants to stay firm, strong and believe that his adoration for Anna would make her realize Lucien, Leandro, or the Michaelson's were not her enemy, nor did his grandfather.
It might be very challenging, and he might fail... Yet, he wants to give it his very best shot.
Come what may...
