Chapter 127: Chapter 127

"And she did not want any trace of her left behind once her plans were executed, succeeded or failed," Jack looked at Brianna on the bed.

Lucien and Clark followed Jack's gaze only to turn back to Jack again.

"But I guess she found something that made her doubt the truth of everything she was told about her parents' tragedy," Jack sighed, still staring at Brianna. "Or..." Jack paused, then he looked at Clark.

The young doctor was startled at Jack's sudden turn of his head in his direction.

"Or...? What...?" Clark asked with fright. He was not scared of Jack; he was scared at how Lucien pierced him with his eyes as he looked at the young doctor, who Lucien thought did something wrong.

"Hey...!" Clark felt offended and hurt. He wanted to protest that these two are being unfair. He wanted to yell out; What did I do? But the two next to him responded the same as when he arrived at the room earlier.

"Shhhhhhh!" Lucien and Jack hushed in unison.

Clark bit his tongue, but he glared at them deadly. He was annoyed, but he realized Jack was not as vicious as Lucien. But only after Jack made his statement clear.

"You mentioned she is having a selective memory, right?" Jack asked.

Clark only nodded as he was cautious not to make another sound again; lest Anna wakes up because of him, Lucien will be pissed, he will be sorry, and he could no longer collect from Lucien later. This tyrant friend of his, Lucien Michaelson, would feel sorry if this Jack explained everything he was trying to say and clear Clark's name. Clear his name that he did not have anything to do with what was happening or whatever happened to his dear Anna.

"If... I want to make myself clear, okay?" Jack turned his gaze to Lucien.

"Okay," Lucien answered.

He was too eager to hear what his theory was, he was a bit pissed that this Jack seemed to be hesitating to say what was in his mind or testing his patience, knowing he would not bark at him with Anna sleeping nearby, but he remained calm and closed his eyes as he nodded vigorously.

"If I am correct, it was only an instinctive move of her that she was able to jump to save you from such a situation," Jack spoke without his voice flickering. The confidence of his statement was unconcealed.

"What the hell do you mean?" Lucien's upper lip twitched as the words sank into his understanding.

"That she did not mean to save you, and she hated herself for it. So she cried in so much heartache," Jack did not hesitate to make his thoughts known. "Just put your feet on her shoes; she hated your family all her life. She would never need to work in your office if only for income; she has a lot of money for herself. She even supports a few foundations because she does not have anywhere to spend her money. But she went to that interview which I only happen to know the day before it was to take place. I ruched to tell her about it and for only a few hours to prepare herself with all information she would need to execute her job, she was cramping that day before you she went for that job interview."

Jack gazed in Brianna's direction blankly as he was trying to check if his analytical thinking was viable. But more than anyone else, he is confident he knew B like the back of his hand. So the possibility of him being correct weighed heavier than him being wrong. The only clear way to find out if he was right or wrong is when they get to ask B. And that would only happen when she wakes up and recover from that snake poison.

"I can even imagine how she had tried her best to pull her hands off you because she could have had a lot of chances to end your life the moment you were left alone with each other. Have you noticed anything distinguishing about her compared to other applicants who came for the interview?" Asked Jack seriously as he turned his gaze back to the young Michaelson.

Lucien leaned his head against the wall behind him. His thoughts went back to the very first day he saw and met Anna. Then he tried to scan through his memory if there were anything that he could connect with Jack Foster's speculations. Any signs that would have appeared Anna to hate him to the core, kinds of looks, or words, or actions. He tried his very best to see Anna through a different eye, but he could not change the image his memory had been embedded with. In his memory, he just saw a distinctive, impressive, and rare woman who made him feel various emotions in a very short time. Her credentials were terrific, her countenance was spectacular, and her non-fazed by his personality, identity, or feature greatly added to them all.

"Nothing," Lucien shook his head softly after a good thought. Then he sighed. "I don't know, I might have missed it, or there was really nothing of the sort."

Jack nodded.

"She might have hidden it well. You know B is not easy to be seen through; she is always two or three steps advanced than most people. Her tough training sharpened her genius mind to almost robotic that she can hide or conceal her emotions very carefully when she deems necessary," Jack said.

"So if she hates the Michaelson's and she saved Lucien by mistake, why would she want to forget anything?" Asked Clark in a low voice.

"During her training days, she had been pushed to and beyond her limits with hatred that if she fails to survive, no one would seek justice and avenge her parents' death. That is how she survived every death that came along her way, even until now. If she had saved the only grandson of the person she wanted dead, she must have felt she had betrayed her parents and that she was a disappointment, so she wanted to forget. Her world turned 360 degrees, from wanting to kill the Michaelson to desperately protecting Lucien, whom she now knew as her client. She even went to warn those that threatened Lucien Michaelson's life in person, all by herself, a bold and daring move. Nevertheless, successful. I saw it all happen," Jack spoke slowly.

He could feel the pains of Brianna again, just like those days when Brianna was suffering from Charles' hands. It kills him in despair that he starts to feel they were all lies. He hates Charles, and his heart cries for Brianna.

Lucien felt the chills. He saw it happen, too. He is lucky to be on her protected side because Lucien knew he had a very low chance of surviving if it was the other way around like he was among her enemies' side. She is committed, dedicated, and never-bending. She is a true warrior to her belief and goals. She is good for a friend, not the best as she is not the kind of sweet and easy to be with, but she can be the worst enemy for anyone.

"Do not stay in the room alone waiting for her to wake up," Jack nicely advised. "She might regain her memory and forget the others that happened in the past few days. She might recall the hatred and jump on you in panic."

All this while...

"What do you think about his words?" Asked Leandro to Andy and Enzo.

They were listening and watching the three on a widescreen in the study room. Leandro ordered a close-range mic and hidden camera to be installed when Enzo asked what the soldiers were going to do with the chairs and table. Enzo was not informed about the command from Lucien as it was his Villa; his orders were not questionable. The assistant only happened to hear the commotion outside the study room, and he went to check on them. He informed the old Michaelson about it, and Leandro came to the idea of listening. Or more of eavesdropping as they did not tell Lucien and any of the three men in Anna's occupied room that they were listening.

"He seemed convincing," Andy replied.

"How about you Enzo, what do you think?" Asked Leandro again.

"Based on his facial expressions, his subconscious movements, and his tone..." Enzo paused for a while, processing if he missed adding anything to his words. Then he continued. "I believe he is telling the truth, but I can also be wrong. Please don't take my words too seriously," Enzo swallowed his spit.

Enzo wanted to slap his back head. He was silently cursing himself for being too straightforward with his words. He doesn't know how to conceal his answers when he knows his Master is seeking his honest opinion. He is also human; no matter if he is too careful to consider this and that, he could still be wrong. And he doesn't want to give inaccurate information or assumptions to his dear Master.
