Chapter 126: Chapter 126

"What is going on?" Clark Jacobs asked as soon as he arrived.

The young doctor dropped all he was doing and appointed his colleagues to take over so he could respond to Enzo's call. He was already waiting by the lobby when the ride to pick him up arrived at the hospital, and it took less than fifteen minutes to reach Lucien's villa. He was told where he was supposed to go as soon as he opened the front door, and he saw Lucien with a stranger standing next to the bed. The two still had each other's hands in a clasp, so Clark was a bit dazed.

"Shhhhhh..."

"Hushhhhh..."

Jack and Lucien quickly responded with their free hands' index fingers right before their mouths, giving the newcomer a sign to be quiet. And noticed they were still holding each other's hands in a firm shake. They abruptly let go and their eyes turned back to the man in a medical gown.

Clark was flabbergasted. Then as he looked at the bed, he also saw someone was lying, and he could guess it was Anna. He has heard from the guy who picked him up that a sharp knife with poison stabbed her in the battle where their mission was to rescue her comrades' family from being held as hostages.

"Sorry..." Clark carefully whispered as he softly walked closer to the patient. He was standing on the other side where the two were standing. Clark did not know what he was supposed to do, so he just checked Anna's pulse, eyes, and the speed of her drips. Then he looked up to Lucien, silently asking.

Lucien walked in the door's direction and signaled the two to follow him. Jack and Clark walked to do as Lucien had silently ordered them to do. Lucien stood outside the room's door and waited for the two to get closer before he slightly closed the door. He left it a little ajar so he would hear if Anna would make any sound, a call, or even her simple groan of pain.

"Okay, Clark, this is Jack," Lucien spoke to Clark, then turned to Jack. "Jack Foster this is Clark Jacobs; he is among my trusted physician."

Clark and Jack shook hands as Lucien introduced them to each other.

"Does he know about B's memory loss, too?" Jack asked with mixed emotions. He was hoping this fine, young doctor could enlighten him with Brianna's conditions.

But Clark was confused with Jack's question. He was not sure if he heard the man correctly or if he was wrong to hear what he thought he heard him say.

"Am sorry, what? Who?" Clark looked straight into Jack's eyes, and then his gaze turned to Lucien.

Lucien neglected to introduce Jack's identity. He only said the names, but honestly, he did not know precisely how to identify Jack. Should he say, this is Jack Foster, Anna's brother? They are not related by blood, so Lucien did not want to say so. He gave Jack a sharp nod as if telling the latter to tell Clark who he was, according to how he wanted himself to be introduced.

"I am Brianna's big brother. Many of you seem to call her Anna, but she is B to me and Boss B or Big B to her team and everyone else."

Clark was startled, and he had no idea what the guy was talking about. His eyes widened as he turned his eyes to Lucien again, with his mouth a bit pouting in confusion.

Lucine sighed.

"It's a long story, but we can discuss about it as we wait for Anna to wake up," Lucien stated.

Then, the young Michaelson waved a hand at a soldier standing in a post outside Anna's recovery room. He instructed to send a few sofa chairs and a stable coffee table inside the room and placed them close to the wall by the door so the patient would not be disturbed from her rest.

The soldier moved snappily to execute Lucien's orders. Lucien also asked for someone to send them coffee when the sitting area gets in place.

"We can start while we wait. You can tell Jack here what findings we had when we brought Anna to the Medical Center for a full check-up," Lucien spoke while peeking inside the room to check on Anna.

"Yes, please, I would love to hear everything about that," Jack spoke with great eagerness as he nodded his head vigorously.

Clark also nodded. He was convinced he was given the go-signal to speak everything when Lucien said they had a lot to talk about Anna. His understanding also confirmed that he could say anything without fear of spilling beans he was not supposed to when Lucien did not stop him from answering the other man's requests.

"We did all possible medical tests to see why she suddenly fainted from so much pain in her head," Clark started. "All results were clear except for a tiny, strange formation of some lines on her memory brain circuits. It showed alterations in the right hippocampus. Structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can detect abnormalities in the structures of the memory circuits in the mesiotemporal region. She seemed to be suppressing a particular memory, and after she fainted, she had no recollection of many things. I cannot be sure about what memory it could have been. And in her case, we did not know much about her past, so it was hard to detect how light or severe her case was. This is what we call "Selective amnesia"."

"May I know when did it start?" Jack was shocked.

"It started when she started her probation duty in my office, and we were on the way to meet a client," Lucien replied to Jack's question. "She was driving my car as my secretary on probation that day when I asked her to pull over to the side of the road because I was going to drive."

Lucien looked at Jack.

"That was the day a team of mercenaries started targeting me. That morning Anna jumped with me to the pedway. I was totally shocked, but the next thing I heard was the loud sound of cars colliding. Another car has badly crushed my sportscar. I was about to confront the other driver, but I heard Anna scream so terrifyingly. I feared she was hurt, but she had no wounds no matter how I checked on her. We landed with her above me, so I was certain she did not hit her head somewhere, but she was holding it as if it was going to break. It scared the hell out of me; she just saved me. I could not believe a tiny woman saved me, and before I could even say thank you, she was agonizingly crying; I panicked. I was even more frightened when she fainted," Lucien spoke in a daze as he seemed to feel everything happening for real again.

"Do you mean, that day she applied to be your Personal Assistant and Executive Secretary?" Asked Jack. "That was the same day I sent her to your building by the entrance."

"So it was you?" Lucien mindlessly asked. "I have asked my men to check and find that person who sent her to the interview that day so we could proceed with the medical procedures, but her files did not have anyone to call or contact in case of emergency. I took the place to be her guardian so all tests could be done. Why?"

"Why was it empty, or why was my name not in it if I am a brother to her?" Jack completed Lucien's question.

But as they could see the people moving around them, the three knew when the sitting room inside Anna's room was done being prepared. Lucien signed for them to continue inside, and the two agreed without saying anything.

Clark was amused to listen.

Lucien was also eager to hear what Jack was going to say.

And Jack was starting to realize things.

He was thinking he had an idea why Brianna cried after that incident on the roadside, but he was not sure just yet.

The chairs were arranged side by side to the wall, but Lucien sat on the chair in the middle so he could see Anna well from his position while he led the two to turn their seats facing the coffee table. Then he poured coffee into the cups on the table and distributed them to the spot in front of Clark and Jack.

"Yes, why would it be empty?" Asked Lucien as he placed the cup of coffee in front of Jack.

Jack smiled weakly.

"Because that was what she wanted," Jack replied right away. "Did you know that I prepared all of her files?

"Are all information in there true?" Lucien sneered.

"Yes, they are all true. That I can swear in my mother's grave," Jack spoke with all seriousness.

"So why would your name not be in her files if you prepared them," Clark butt in after sipping from his coffee. He made his voice sound very casual.

"Because Brianna was there to get close to the Michaelson whom she was told killed her parents," Jack stared intently at Lucien.
