Chapter 86: Alexander and Emily (7)

He arrived at Globex and Emily was gone, he quickly gave her a call " Millie, where are you? " Alexander asked worriedly.

" Oh, Isabella and I went out to shop for the upcoming ball " she said over the phone and he heard Isabella's voice in the background.

" Don't stress yourself too much, you aren't fully recovered " he warned her sternly.

" Are you back home?" She asked.

" Yeah, make sure you come home soon, I'm already missing your presence, " Alexander said.

" Okay bye now " she hung up instantly.

AT A COFFEE SHOP

Both ladies sat down drinking tea as they conversed about the upcoming ball.

" Your hand bag didn't tag along with you today" Emily said as she giggled.

Isabella rolled her eyes " he wanted to, but I didn't let him, Jason is such a big baby his becoming too clingy and I don't have any privacy or freedom anymore " she said with a loud sigh.

Emily smiled " isn't that good, you guys are doing well after Emma and Chantal left your lives I hope I and Alexander last forever " she said.

" I'm sure you will, Alex is a mature guy. I mean if it was I who went out without informing Jason he would have located me and created a scene here "  Isabella said and they both laughed.

" Ouch!! " Isabella scrunched up her face.

" What's wrong? Are you okay? " Emily asked as she placed her hand on Bella's shoulder.

Isabella nodded " it's my thing of the month " she said as she placed her hand on her tummy.

" I think you should go home and get some rest " Emily suggested and she nodded.

" Let's reschedule the shopping, we can come next time with Chloe or she might get angry, " Isabella said.

They parted ways and Emily got back to Globex. Immediately she got in , she

perceived the aroma of chicken wings.

She walked into the kitchen and as she had thought Alex was making dinner.

" I'm home, " she said as she hugged him from behind.

" I'm sweaty, you can get all the hugs you want once I'm done " he said and chased her out of the kitchen.

" Geez, fine " she muttered as she went upstairs to the bedroom.

She went into the bathroom and surprisingly Alexander had prepared a bubble bath for her.

She blushed scarlet, she had never felt this sweet and special realising what she had almost missed out on due to her foolishness made her smacked her head.

She took off her clothes and stepped into the warm water and she closed her eyes in pleasure. " Just how I love it, " she muttered.

" Gosh I forgot the shower gel " she groaned knowing she had to come out from the water to get it.

She checked the shelf in the bathroom, and she caught sight of it.

" Millie, dinner is ready " Alex yelled from the living room.

" I will be down in a sec " she screamed back.

After dinner, she smuggled herself into Alexander's arms.

The following morning at Cornell University.

It was the last day of school for the year and everyone was busy planning for the school Christmas Ball.

Emily emerged from the classroom after writing her last papers, she was busy typing on her phone and her shoulder brushed against Jace.

" Millie " he muttered and she raised her head.

" Oh hey Jace it's been a while " she said with a faint smile.

" I'm sorry I heard what happened to your brother " Jace said sadly after all Caleb was his best friend.

" It was bound to happen, it just came sooner than I expected " Emily said as she gave a bitter smile.

She had really missed Caleb, after all he is her blood brother and they both grew up together.

"I haven't been seeing you around, hope everything is fine " Emily asked after some time.

" Yeah, I went to California last week to see my parents, " Jace said as he rubbed his head.

" um, do you perhaps know how my parents are doing? " She asked with a troubled look.

" About that, let's go sit over there " he said pointing at a bench and she nodded.

" Emily I don't how you might react to what am about to say " Jace said with a loud sigh

" What is it? Are my  parents okay, say something? " Emily said hurriedly.

Jace stared at the innocent look on her face making it quite harder for him to place his words. " Your parents are fine and the company is launching a new movie on the day of Christmas Eve. To be honest they don't seem affected after cutting ties with you " he said gently to her.

Tears were already brimming out from her eyes. Look at her here thinking that they must still be hurt about the incident and regret their actions, instead they were living a regular life where by she's yearning for their love.

" Emily, don't cry " her tears fell on her hand, jolting her out from her thoughts.

Jace wiped the tears with his hand from her face " you just have to be strong, I'm always here for you " he said and pulled her for a hug.

" Thank you so much, at least I'm glad they are doing great without me, '' she muttered.

" I got to go, I will call you " he said and patted her head before walking away.

She took a deep breath and stared at an empty space for a while.

BACK AT GLOBEX

Emily lay on the bed and huddled herself at a corner, she couldn't get what Jace said out of her mind.

She was tired of acting strong,there were nights where she wished everything could come back to normal. She just wanted her previous life back.

Hours later, her phone ringtone brought her out from her daze, she weakly opened her eyes and picked up.

" Millie, My dad went on a business trip and there's a lot of work here at the company I might have to work all night  " Alexander said apologetically.

" Nancy is coming over to keep you company before I get back " he added before he hung up.

She frowned a little, she didn't even get a chance to say a word.

The doorbell rang and she guessed it must be Nancy. She opened up and Nancy gave her a hug " Millie, I missed you so much "

Emily smiled back " come on in " she said and Nancy walked into the living room.

" Alex threw me out of the company, so let's have fun " Nancy said as she stuck out her tongue.

" How about we watch a movie? " Nancy said and Emily nodded.

Emily picked up her phone " I will order popcorn"

The movie began and both girls giggled from time to time.

" You know this is the best comedy romance I have watched so far, " Nancy said.

" Okay I must admit I'm glad Alex threw me out of the company, this is way better than the pile of work over there " she said as she drank from her juice.

Emily laughed " you are so lazier  than I expected. My poor baby must be tired, " she sighed.

" Don't worry he will be fine, he's just too naggy and always not satisfied with the employees " Nancy said unceremoniously.

After the movie, Nancy turned to Emily and held her hands " Millie, I'm inviting you to our house for Christmas Eve " Nancy said.

" I'm not ready to……."

Nancy shot her a deadly glare " I won't take no for an answer it's a must " she said sternly.

Emily sighs " okay "

" Good, I'm sure Alex will be delighted, " she said happily.

" Okay I have to take my leave now, it's getting dark " Nancy said and Emily walked her to the door.

" Thanks for coming over, it was really fun, " Emily smiled.

HARRISON'S MANOR

" Alex invited us to his house for Christmas Eve " Jason said as he placed his head on her chest.

" But I can't come, my mom will be back tomorrow, remember " Isabella said as she threaded her fingers into his hair.

" Oh that's right, let's decline his invite " Jason nodded

" Um, what's your own excuse? " she asked as she rolled her eyes at him.

" Our mom is coming back tomorrow, " he said nonchalantly.

Isabella scoffed loudly " you are becoming more and more shameless " she said.

" say it all you want, It will be boring without you my  honey "

Isabella snorted " just admit the fact that you are clingy " she accused him.

Jason snickered " what?,  I'm not. How can you even say that "

Isabella pursed her lip " oh really then I dare you to go to Alex's on Christmas Eve " she said.

" Challenge accepted " he said and stood up from her chest.

" Let's see how you cope, " she laughed.
