Chapter 85: Alexander and Emily (6)

The following morning, Alexander quickly freshened up, on his way downstairs he bumped into Stacey, her head collided with his chest and the impact made her fall on her butt.

" Ouch! Help me up Alex" she said as she extended her hands forward.

" I don't have time, " he said and walked past her.

" Wait, why are you in a hurry? " She asked but he ignored her and went downstairs

He drove out of the house and he called Emily on the way but she wasn't picking her calls.

His car came to a halt and he got down quickly to check on her. He knocked on the door like forever but there was no response.

He fumbled inside his pocket and luckily, he found her spare key he inserted it and pushed the door open.

There was no one around, the house was peaceful and quiet. He gently opened the door to her room and she was sleeping peacefully.

He smiled and walked out of the room, he went into the kitchen and prepared a sumptuous breakfast for her. He came back into the room and she was still sleeping. He glanced at his watch and it was past 11 he frowned and moved closer to her.

" Millie get up " he said and he patted her gently.

Her body shook a little but she didn't respond to him. He placed his hand on her head. "Holy shit, you are burning up " he said as he withdrew his hand back.

He  pulled her to his embrace " Millie,say something" he patted her cheeks as he raised her head from his chest.

" Alex, you are here don't worry I'm fine " she shut her eyes and placed her head back on his chest.

" Shut up, just look at you, you can hardly stay still on your own, '' he said angrily.

" I'm fine, " she muttered again.

" White paint has more Colour than your face. Are you aware of that?. I'm calling the doctor and that's final."

" It's not serious," she mumbled.

Alexander hissed and placed her gently on the bed, and he called the doctor over the phone.

" Here have some water " he helped her up and fed her some water.

She kept shivering and covered herself up with the duvet, I will warm you up "

The doctor stopped by and gave her pills to take in order to subside the fever. After taking it she fell asleep again.

Hours later, her eyes flew open and she slowly sat up.

" You are finally awake, how are you feeling? " Alexander asked.

" Alex, when did you arrive? '' she asked with a baffled look.

" You don't remember? " He asked incredulously.

" Yes " she held her head with her face scrunched up.

" I came and you were running a fever so I called the doctor over, you even mentioned my name don't you remember? " he said.

" I don't " she shook her head as she tried to recall.

" It's okay, don't force it, how are you feeling now? " He asked corncenly.

" I'm feeling really sleepy, " she muttered.

" At least eat something first, I will go get you your lunch " he said as he left the room.

He came shortly with a tray of food " you made this?" Emily asked with a faint smile.

" Yes I did, it was supposed to be your breakfast but you were sleeping and I didn't want to disturb you " he said.

" I'm sorry " she apologised.

" Sorry for what? silly, it wasn't your fault you caught a fever or was it? " He asked.

She nodded her head " actually last night, I thought you were going to come over and I was feeling extremely bored and excited so I stood out waiting for you " she said as she lowered her gaze.

" Millie, Why didn't you tell me when I called,  it was fucking freezing last night " Alexander said.

" I didn't want you to feel bad or blame yourself for it, " Emily muttered.

" I'm sorry, I promise I won't leave again " Alexander said as he pulled her into his arms.

" It's okay you don't have to, I don't think your mom would like the idea" she said hastily.

" Do I look like I care, you are the only thing that matters to me the most and I wouldn't trade you for anything else " Alexander said as he cupped her cheeks and they locked eyes.

Emily's eyes turned glossy " what have I done to deserve someone like you in my life, you have always been good to me " she said as tears slid down her cheeks.

" Shhh, I'm the one lucky to have you in my life not the other way around, don't you ever feel that you are lonely as long as I am breathing I would do whatever it takes to make you smile " Alexander said as he kissed her on her forehead.

" Alex, I love you so much, " Emily said with a hoarse voice as she hugged him.

" I love you more, my princess, " he said as he patted her back gently.

" Feed me now " Emily said and Alexander nodded with a chuckle.

" How does it taste? " he asked curiously.

" It's amazing, '' Emily said with her eyes closed as she savoured the taste.

" I'm glad you love it, I will make your food from now on, " Alexander said with a smile.

" Alex the Christmas Ball is approaching " Emily said as she wiped her lips with a tissue paper.

" Um, that reminds me I have something I want to show you. I'll be back" Alexander  said as he stood up.

He came back shortly with an envelope " here " he passed it to her and Emily glanced at him before opening it up.

" These are flight tickets to Maldives, " she said with a bright smile.

" I wanted to give you this on Christmas Eve but I couldn't wait any longer, I thought we should spend the new year at the  Maldives and watch the fireworks together"

" That's a fantastic idea," she said and wrapped her arm around his neck.

" I guess you are feeling much better " Alexander squeezed her cheeks.

" I will go get rid of the dishes " Alexander took it out of the room.

He came back only to meet her asleep, he shook his head as he chuckled softly.

He gently closed the door and just then he received a call from Nancy.

" What is it ? Why is mom calling repeatedly " he said, already getting annoyed.

" Stacey slit her wrist with a knife and she's currently at the hospital, '' Nancy said over the phone.

" And how is that my concern? " He asked unceremoniously.

" Mom said you should come over and keep her company in the hospital, " Nancy said, also sounding peeved.

" Emily is sick and I can't neglect her and tell Mom I can't make it " he said and hung up.

Just then he received a call from Nancy again " what's your problem? " He said immediately he picked up.

" Look Alex,  you have to calm down if you keep behaving this way. I'm afraid mom won't approve of your relationship with Emily. She might think she's the one controlling you" Nancy improvised.

Alex thought for a while and Nancy was making sense, he glanced at Emily who was fast asleep but he didn't want to leave her.

" Alex I suggest you show up even though it's for a bit " Nancy persuaded him.

" Fine, what hospital " he demanded.

" Spring Grove Hospital " she said and he hung up.

He sighs before leaving globex.

SPRING GROVE HOSPITAL

Alexander pushed the door of the VIP room open and he met Stacey munching on an apple. He glanced at the small cut on her hand that made him more infuriated, she looked more healthier than him to begin with.

" Oh you finally came " Stacey smiled at him and suddenly winced in pain.

" Alex, my wrist is really hurting, I'm hungry, please feed me some fruits, " she said in a pitiful voice.

Alex scoffed loudly, he was extremely disgusted with her character and he felt he couldn't stand her for too long. " You were eating with that supposed injured arm a while ago before I came in " he said as he gave her a disgusted look.

Stacey's expression turned ugly immediately. " Fine I just wanted to see you, Alex I want us to be besties like we used to be. I'm not asking for you to love me. I know you have a girlfriend already " she said as she gave him a bitter smile.

"  it's too late , I don't want anyone to misunderstand what I share with you in the future " he announced.

" okay…. But I hope you don't mind me staying at your place. You are old enough to be my elder brother. I hope you don't mind me calling you that ?" Stacey said with a puppy look.

Alexander glanced at her strangely " she's really a weirdo" he thought to himself.

" Look I don't have time to blabber with you, I will take my leave now " Alex said sternly.

" Wait I thought aunty said you should stay and keep me company "

Alexander sneered " You should have thought about that before slitting your wrist " with that said he dashed out of the hospital.
