Chapter 84: Alexander and Emily (5)

After getting the groceries, Alexander was about to get into the car when his cell phone began to ring.

" Hey son, where are you? " Mrs Miles asked over the phone.

" er…. Just went out to get something "he said unceremoniously.

" Oh your Dad and I are back, come home I have something to show you " Mrs Miles said.

" Oh okay then, I will hang up now " he said and disconnected the call.

He got into the car and Emily turned to him. " Who is it? " She asked.

" It's your rival who called, " he said with a smile and started the car.

" Your mom? " She asked again.

" How did you know? Were you eavesdropping? " He asked with a surprised look.

Emily laughed " of course she's the only one who is fit to be my rival " she said confidently.

" So you are trying to say there's no other  girl who can compete with you huh" he asked and she nodded.

" As you say my queen "

" What did your mom say? I could tell you weren't pleased " she asked.

" Oh my parents are back from Paris and my mom said she has something she wants to show me " he said nonchalantly.

" You should go see her, " Emily said and Alexander nodded.

They arrived at Globex and Emily was about to get down but he held her back " no Goodbye kisses? " He asked.

" Goodbye my love " she hugged him and came out from the car and Alex chuckled.

Back At Miles Residence

Immediately Alex walked in, nancy rushed over to him " At long last,  I thought you would never come back. It's almost a week since you disappeared  from home, " Nancy said.

He rolled his eyes at her " stop being dramatic, do you have any idea why mom called me home. I need to get going. I have to cook dinner for Emily. It's getting late, " he said as he glanced at his wristwatch.

Nancy stared at him with her mouth agape " Alex, you just got here and  the last time you touched a knife was when you were 17 that's about 4 years back "

" Just shut up,  tell me why mom called me over " he asked as he sat on the couch.

Just then, a girl wearing a tight short skirt that could barely cover her thighs and a sports-T-  shirts  climbed down the stairs.

" Alex, it's good to see you again " she said excitedly as she rushed over and gave him a peck on the cheek and pulled him to a hug.

Alexander quickly wiped his cheeks in disgust, he stared at her confusedly and Nancy palmed her lips as she giggled.

He pulled her away  from himself roughly " what's going on here? " He asked.

Mrs Miles came out from the kitchen " you are back son, this is Stacey don't you remember her? " She asked.

" No I don't " he answered almost immediately.

" When you were 10, we went on a vacation to France and we went over to Stacey's house. You guys even played together, you remember? " She asked.

he nodded his head " yes I remember now " How could he forget, he looked at the lady standing in front of him she did look pretty but he could tell she was a spoilt brat.

" That's good, Stacey will be staying with us from now on, " Mrs Miles said.

" But why? What Happened to Her house? " Alexander asked.

" Why? Stacey is like a daughter to me. Your Dad doesn't have any objections and I guess you also should " with that said she went back to the kitchen.

" Oh thank goodness you remember me, I thought you won't " she smiled as she closed the space between them.

" Wait, why does this look like my shirt ? " He asked as he turned to the both of them.

Stacey cleared her throat " it's yours, actually I liked it so I put it on " she said awkwardly.

Alex glared at her " How could you take something that isn't yours without permission, don't you know that Is equivalent to stealing " he yelled at her.

" I'm sorry, just liked it that's all, moreover aren't we best friends ? is not that bad "  she murmured and Alex glared at her.

He abruptly stood up " mom I will be taking my leave now " he yelled from the living room.

Mrs Miles came out from the kitchen " where are you heading to? " She asked with her brows furrowed.

" To see Emily, " he said nonchalantly.

"  I was told that you haven't been at home for the past five days, aren't you pushing things too fast? " she asked.

" Look mom I need to go now, I will come over tomorrow " he said and Mrs Miles blocked his path.

" You aren't going anywhere son and if you insist don't you ever call me your mother " she said sternly.

" Fuck! " Alex cursed under his breath.

He shouldn't have come, he should have asked Nancy instead he thought.

" Look, at least  wait till tomorrow, if your father gets back and doesn't see you at home he won't feel good " Mrs Miles said and he finally compromised.

" Dinner is set, " the housekeeper announced with a slight bow.

" Come on Alex, " Stacey pulled him to the dining room.

" So Nancy, how does it feel to be done with school? You must be feeling great right? Stacey asked as she took the seat next to Alex.

" Um it doesn't make a difference to me " she said unceremoniously as she ate from her plate.

" Aunt, I would like to transfer to Alex's school. What do you think? " she said as she smiled at Alexander.

" That's a good idea, " Mrs Miles said with a smile settled on her face.

" I will go to my room, " Alexander said and he stood up.

" What about dinner? " Nancy asked.

" I'm done, " he said and ran upstairs.

" He didn't even touch his food. What's wrong with him? Where is all this attitude coming from? " His mother said furiously.

" I guess it's the power of love taking control of him, " Nancy mumbled.

" What did you say? " Mrs Miles asked.

" It's nothing aunty, " Nancy said.

" Can you tell me how Alex's girlfriend is? " She asked Nancy.

" Emily is pretty and sweet, I can't say much about her but I fell in love with her the first day we met, " Nancy said with a happy smile.

Stacey stared at Nancy and Mrs Miles " Alex, have a girlfriend? " She asked.

" Oops, not a girlfriend but a fiancee, they got engaged recently" Nancy added she could clearly see through Stacey's intentions.

" Wow, that's cool!" Stacey forced a fake smile.

BACK UPSTAIRS

Alex video calls Emily on the phone " baby " he said immediately she picked up.

" Aren't you coming over? " She asked as she lay on her bed.

Alex sighs loudly" I can't right now " he said.

" Oh it's okay, you should spend time with your family and not just your girlfriend " she smiled faintly.

" Have you eaten? I couldn't fulfil my promise I'm sorry " he genuinely apologise.

" It's no big deal, I will do it myself. Hope you have eaten " she asked.

" I couldn't eat, the food over here is horrible, no one cooks better than you " he said.

Emily laughed " you have been eating at your house for years but you never found it horrible until now, you are such a buttlicker" she said.

Just then,  the door was pushed open and Stacey walked in with a plate filled with fruits.

" Alex here aunty said I should bring this to you " she said as she slowly placed it down on the coffee table and Emily caught sight of her undies and she stared at Alex, with her brows cocked up.

" Who asked you to barge into my room? " he said rudely to her.

" Oh I'm sorry I didn't know you were busy, I will come back later so we can watch a movie together " she said and left the room.

" What movie?  this girl is crazy, " Alex muttered.

" Um, who Is she? " Emily asked.

" Oh she's a family friend " he said unceremoniously.

" Why is she putting on your shirt? " Emily raised her brows at him, waiting for an explanation.

" I came home and met her in my shirt, let's forget about her, okay " he said.

" I'm exhausted, I will go to sleep now  goodnight " she kissed the screen and hung up.

Alexander sighs loudly and lays on his bed. He knew Emily was angry with him. He had decided to stay far away from Stacey before she would jeopardise his happiness.
