Chapter 21: every man for himself

Emma took a sharp breath as she tried really hard not to over think “ come on Emma, Isabella is just trying to infuriate you, there's nothing between her and Jason right?  Jason only loves Emma yes Jason only loves Emma she said repeatedly  trying to brainwash herself. Jason and Emma together forever ” she said as she smiled.

While she was busy daydreaming about Jason, suddenly an unknown number called.

She stared at the number and her expression changed, she kept staring at the number for a while hesitatingly before she picked up “ what do you want again? ” she asked.

” Hello Ms Jackson “ the unknown man said over the phone.

” Just go straight to the point ,what do you want from me? “ she roared. After all, she was already in a horrible mood.

The unknown man chuckled ” relax Ms Jackson don't forget that you are my puppet and you have to do as I say “ he said.

” You better shut that filthy mouth of yours, how dare you speak to me like this.  Are you insane?  Who is your puppet? I think you have forgotten that I am the daughter of the Jackson's and I will never dance to your unfortunate miserable tune “ she said angrily.

” Enough!. Be quiet “ the unknown man yelled over the phone.” Don't forget that I have the evidence with me and I can send it to Mr  Harrison anytime I want. “

Emma quickly calmed down as her mouth snapped shut immediately ” so w-what do-do you want? “ She stuttered.

The unknown man chuckled once again ”  Ms Jackson is quite smart. If you want me to keep your secret, send the sum of two million dollars to my account immediately unless you know……..

Emma gnashed her teeth angrily “ do you take me for a machine that dispenses  money this is the fifth time that you are demanding money . Look, let's do this once and for all. How much should I give to you in return for the evidence ” she said.

The unknown man smirked, “ 50 million dollars will do the job, ” he said.

Emma was dumbstruck “ what? '' That's a lot of money. Where am I supposed to get that kind of ridiculous amount from.“ She couldn't help but yell out frustratedly.

“ 50 million dollars or young master Jason finds out ” the unknown said coldly before hanging up.

“ damn damn damn ” she cursed as she slammed her fist on the bench.

In an unknown location

In a dark room the unknown man turned around as he reported the situation to his colleague.

He licked his lips, rubbing his hands together. “ Our plan was successful, I knew it would result in this if we kept pestering her for money have demanded 50 million dollars, “ the unknown man said.

His colleague smirked as he stroked his beards  ” that's great news but do you know that we can get double the amount? “

The unknown man tilted his head with narrow eyes as he furrowed his brows confusedly ” what are you trying to imply? He asked as he plopped down on the couch.

His colleague put his hands behind his head as he chuckled softly.

The unknown man gazed at him but couldn't catch up with his thoughts; he had a nebulous gaze that one couldn't see through.

His colleague sat back and grabbed his beer then he lit a cigarette  “ I mean we should call your young master and tell him about the evidence and we could ask for 100 million dollars in return ” he said blowing sweet smoke into the cool air.

Dissatisfaction plowed his brows as he refused “ what are you talking about? No one dares to mess with the Harrison's. let's not go extreme as you said they are the richest.The Harrison's have a lot of connections with a snap of his fingers he can get us killed ” he said.  We should just take the money Ms Jackson offers to us and end the whole thing “ said the unknown man

He rose to his feet ” Anyways am taking my leave now ” the unknown man said as he walked off.

His colleague's lips curled up into a sinister smile “ what a coward, you might be afraid but I'm not. every man for himself ” he said picking up his phone from the sofa.

Back at apartment

Jason caught sight of Isabella's smug grin; she wasn't trying to hide her glee at all.

She grabbed her bag from the sofa as she prepared to take her leave. Jason felt displeased, he grabbed her arm “ what are you smiling at? ” he said.

Isabella batted her long lashes as she acted confused “ ah?. What are you talking about ” she said, looking innocent.

Jason snorted “ why did you do that? ” he said.

“ do what ? '' she asked. “ We should talk later there's a lot of work to do, '' she said as she tried to slip away.

“ Not so fast, ” Jason said as he pulled her to the sofa. “ Why did you say all those things to Emma?. How am I supposed to explain myself to her ” he said.

Isabella spread her arms wide “ that's your problem not mine ” she said unceremoniously.

She stood up as she headed to the door. Jason shook his head following  behind her.

They walked out of the building as Jason looked around “ where is your chauffeur? ” he asked.

“ His on his way here ” she said while playing with her phone.

He noticed that she was smiling at her phone, he drew nearer to check but he couldn't see anything. He abruptly snatched her phone.

“ hey! ” she yelled. She held up her palm “ give it back to me ” she said as she stomped her foot angrily.

Jason glanced at her phone as he shook his head “ you are smiling because you are playing this childish game? Isabella, how old are you ? ” he couldn't help but ask.

Isabella glared at him angrily “ You are such a jerk ” she crossed her arm over her chest.

Jason wrapped his arm around her waist pulling her into his embrace he squeezed her cheeks “ I thought you were chatting with a guy .You are so naive and cute and I don't want any scumbag like Caleb to cheat you again  ”  he said.

Isabella rolled her eyes “ I don't need your help, cause i'm already in love with  a scumbag ” at that moment her  chauffeur arrived as she got in. She extended her middle finger towards him, as the car drove off.

Jason was left speechless he couldn't help but think about what she had just said, all of a sudden he felt worried. “ I hope she's not in love with that scumbag Caleb, Isabella, why are you so silly? ” he thought to himself. He didn't want anybody to break her heart again. Jason shook his head  as he tried to get rid of his thoughts, he got into his car as he also drove off.

Back at the Andrew's mansion

Isabella went into the house, immediately Chloe saw Isabella she rushed towards her “ Bella are you aware that Aunty Evelyn asked the hospital to send Caleb to our house until he fully  recovers ” Chloe said.

Isabella stretched as she kept yawning “ yeah am aware of it ” she said unceremoniously, she kept rubbing her eyes she was suddenly feeling sleepy and tired.

Chloe stared at her in blank amazement “ are you crazy ” she placed her hands on Isabella's shoulders. “ won't this cause another huge misunderstanding between you and Jason? ” she said.

Isabella raised her eyebrows as she tried really hard to stay awake “ just relax okay, Jason doesn't have the right to tell me what to do ” she said as she dragged her feet upstairs.

Chloe furrowed her brows as she  narrowed her eyes “ I thought Isabella is in love with Jason ” she couldn't help but ask herself.

“ I think it is high time I stay out of this before they drive me crazy soon ” Chloe mumbled as she climbed up the stairs.
