Chapter 22: a loaded wagon makes no noise

Immediately Isabella got into her room she threw herself on her big bed. She just wanted to sleep for a while. She closed her eyes from satisfaction. She was about to cover herself with a quilt when she heard a knock on the door “ argh! She grumbled '' Come in, ” Isabella said.

Chloe and Emily came in together. Are you kidding me? Emily said. Today is your engagement party aren't you supposed to get prepared?.

Chloe nodded in agreement “ yeah Isabella,come on get up ” Chloe said pulling Isabella up from the bed.

She buried her face inside her pillow “ guys please just let me sleep for a while, I am so tired ” she complained.

At that moment the maid knocked on the door, she came in “ Miss the makeup artist is here? ”

Isabella was speechless “ make-up artist? It's just an engagement party not my wedding ” she couldn't help but say. She felt like everyone was over exaggerating.

Chloe shot her a look “ it's your day, you need to look pretty. ” she said.

“ Send the makeup artist in” Chloe said to the maid.

“ Alright Miss ” she bowed a little before taking her leave.

“ fine. excuse me guys, I want to go use the bathroom ” Isabella said as she walked towards her bathroom.

Emily looked around as she lay her eyes on Isabella's dress.Her lips curled up into a smile.

“ erm Chloe could you please help me check on my brother. Don't worry I will help Isabella get ready” Emily said.

Chloe was a little confused “ Uhm okay ” she walked off with her brows furrowed.

After Chloe left, Emily looked around vigilantly before taking out her phone from her pocket as she quickly texted someone.

At that moment Isabella came out, Emily hastily put back her phone in her pocket and she smiled brightly at Isabella.

“ I feel better after washing my face . Where is the makeup artist? Isabella asked.

“ Erm the maid will bring her …….

Before she could finish they heard a knock on the door ” come in “ Isabella said. The makeup artist walked in as she smiled sweetly at them.

” You are the bride right, you look so young and pretty “ the makeup artist praised her.

Isabella froze. She coughs awkwardly. it's not even my wedding yet she thought to herself. ” No Miss, tonight is my engagement party ” she said as she let out a low laugh.

“ Oh dear, you have such flawless skin,you don't even need makeup but let's do something light “ the makeup artist said.

Isabella nodded exactly what she wanted. She wasn't a big fan of makeup; she loves looking natural.

In the process of her makeup the maids suddenly came in ” Miss, madam said we should pack up your stuffs “ Lucy the maid said.

” erm to the Harrison's “ she asked.

Lucy turned around grinning ” no we are moving it to young master Jason's apartment “ she said.

” what?You mean I will be leaving with Jason in his apartment? “ she asked.

” Yes, “ Lucy nodded. ” Madam said it's closer to school and there's nothing to worry about. She trusts young master Jason will take good care of you “ said Lucy.

Isabella bowed her head as she suddenly fell silent.

Before you knew it everywhere was all dark. Isabella looked at herself in the full length mirror. ” she couldn't help but smile “ she looked really pretty.

She was wearing a blue ball gown with diamonds scattered all over. She was shining bright under the lights. One could tell from a glance that the dress cost a fortune. Her hair was styled in a bun, the light makeup and her blue eyeballs complimented the whole dressing. She looked like an angel descended from above.

When Chloe came in she was stunned she couldn't help but shower Isabella with praises. ” wow Bella you look so gorgeous. I must say you look so good in blue.“ Chloe said.

Emily chimed in ” yes our Bella looks pretty tonight. I bet Jason won't be able to take his eyes off you.“ Said Emily.

At that moment Isabella's phone buzzed. “ Let me see. Is it a text from Jason? ” Emily said, sounding delighted.

Both Chloe and Isabella stared at each other. They were both speechless (・o・)

Chloe felt like the atmosphere was suddenly weird so she quickly changed the topic “ wow, I never knew that Aunty Evelyn knows so much about fashion ” said Chloe.

Isabella nodded “ my mom knows a whole lot about fashion she owns a clothing line. She has a boutique back in California. I don't know, maybe you have heard about it. '' sparkling wears, “ she said.

Chloe was left speechless again. Of course she knew about that boutique. It is huge, only well known celebrities patronise there most times. She had always wanted to visit one she never knew that it was owned by her Aunty. Sparkling wears has at least 15 branches all over the world . She wondered what type of family she had. She knew Isabella and her mom loved living a low key lifestyle. Like they say ” a loaded wagon makes no noise “ that was the real definition of the Andrew's. No wonder the dress Isabella was wearing looked somehow familiar.

Emily didn't even realize her actions awhile ago ” Okay guys I will go get dressed now “ said Emily.

Chloe stared at her in blank amazement ” I thought you had already gotten dressed. She said,

Emily scrutinised herself carefully. She shook her head “ Na. this is not good enough, I need to go change ” Emily said as she walked off.

Chloe couldn't help but chuckle. This Best friend of yours is so funny. “ I am sure she doesn't have a boyfriend. Is she in search of one? "said chloe.

Isabella gigled ” Millie doesn't have a boyfriend. And she has never mentioned her crush. I wonder if she even has one, “ she said.

” Emily loves dressing up even if she's going to the bathroom,“ Isabella said.

Chloe nodded as she stared at the door in deep thoughts. She didn't Know why but she felt like there was something fishy about Emily.

” I will go check on Aunty Evelyn. She might need my help “ Chloe excused herself.

Isabella sat on her dressing table. She brought out a diamond necklace from her drawer. She was about to put it on when someone suddenly knocked on her door. “ Come in, ” she said.

Caleb faltered in. He walked up to Isabella. “ wow you look so beautiful tonight ” he said with a bitter smile. She wasn't dressing up for him, she was dressing up for another man. He balled his fists in anger he couldn't watch her get engaged to another guy.

Isabella bowed her head staring at her dress “ thanks ” she said with no hint of emotion.

She tried hooking her necklace but she couldn't. She felt a warm hand on her back “ I will put it on for you ” Caleb said as he took the necklace from her.

After hooking it up, he suddenly brought his lips close to Isabella's ear “ when I touched you didn't you feel anything ” he said.

Without looking at him Isabella replied nonchalantly “ oh I wasn't even aware that you touched me if you didn't mention it ” she said.

I understand Bella you are playing hard to get. I know I didn't treat you right in the past. I deserve this punishment from you, “ he said.

Isabella laughed sarcastically ” you must be delusional. When will you wake up from this dream? We are a thing of the past. She said as she stood up.

“ Isabella, I know you and Jason are not a couple ” he suddenly yelled from behind. Isabella was shocked she slowly turned around.
