Chapter 18 : your brother was involved in an aciddent

While they were busy chatting and reminiscing past events . Emily's cellphone started ringing she glanced at the caller ID she was puzzled

“ why is Jace calling me out of the blue ? ” she thought in her head. Jace is Caleb's friend from New York. She picked up and she could hear Jace stressed voice over the phone.

“ hey Emily have been trying to get in contact with you for long ” he said.

“ yeah my phone was switched off cause I was in the plane I just arrived at New York ” Emily said.

“ look Emily that's not the issue now your brother was in an accident and his condition is critical please come to the hospital now ” he said.

“ What? “ her body was trembling now as her eyes started tearing up.

” you should come to the hospital now you are his only family member in New York “ Jace said.

” what's wrong ?“ Isabella asked feeling anxious too.

” My br.. bro... brother was involved in an ac.. cident ” she stuttered with her palm on her mouth.

Isabella was dumfounded “ what ? Calm down which hospital? She asked.

” He just texted me the address now ” Emily said.

Emily quickly told her the address and they left hurriedly.

When they arrived at the hospital, Emily rushed up to the reception desk she wanted to ask about her brother at that moment Jace called out to her “ Emily ! ”

She ran to him “ how is my brother ”

” they said his out of danger for now they will be watching his condition for the next 48 hours to confirm ” Jace said.

Emily breathe a sigh of relief “ oh my, please take me too see him ” she said.

They all went to the ward but the doctor said only one person could go see him at a time.

Emily was the first to go in when she went in she couldn't help but become emotional when she saw her pale, weak brother lying on the bed with his head covered in bandage. she walked up to him as she pulled a stool and sat close to him and took his hand.

“ brother! ” she called out as tears were flowing down her cheeks.

Caleb gave a bitter smile he tried to lift his hands to pet her head but she stopped him “ you are so weak and you are still smiling huh ? ”

She said acting angry .

“ your big brother is so strong ” he replied.

“ just shut up, you need to be really careful when driving what would have happened if I had lost you what will I tell mom and dad “ she said wiping her tears.

She continued ” thank Goodness I was with Isabella I wouldn't have known where this hospital is located. “

He quickly asked ” it's ella here ?“ he said with his eyes sparkling.

” yeah she's outside “ she said.

”Tell her I wanna see her now. ” Caleb said.

Emily expression suddenly became serious “ Brother is Isabella related to your accident last night? Where you thinking about her again? She asked. Cause she knew that her brother was good at driving and he hardly looses focus.

Caleb was shocked he didn't know when his little sister became so sharp and sensitive ” erm Millie what are you talking about I was just drunk when I was driving “ he lied.

Emily sneered ” have already gotten my answer . I can clearly see through you am your sister for God sake and I can tell when you are lying. Brother please forget about Bella . She has already moved on and I think is about time for you to do the same . I know Isabella is a rare gem but they are other outstanding girls out there too. Have met her fiance and I can tell that they both love each other.

Caleb felt like something was piercing his heart he felt like he couldn't breathe that was the last thing he wanted to hear. He couldn't move on no matter how hard he tried. “ I know Isabella is a rare gem that's why I don't want to let go of her. i have to win her back. He said with determination.

Emily sigh ”brother you are being so stubborn I don't want you to keep hurting yourself like this. You are making things difficult for everyone. Don't forget that Isabella is my best friend. “ Anyways I will go get Bella”

She said as she head to the door.

When she came out, she saw Jace speaking to Isabella she noticed Isabella's expression had changed.

She walked closer and heard the last thing Jace said “ I think you should go and think it through ” Jace said to Isabella.

Emily wore a confused look “ think what through ? what are you guys talking about ” she asked.

“ Nothing ” Jace quickly said. “ We were just having a casual chat.”

She wasn't that foolish to believe him. Emily didn't push the matter further she knew that if it's something very important Isabella will report it to her.

“ Baby B my brother wants to see you ” she said.

At that moment a nurse walked up to them. “ the doctor wants to speak to you about the patient's condition”

“ I will go speak to the doctor ” Jace said. “

” I will also come with you I want to ask him about my brother's condition ” Emily added.

They both left Isabella there, with no other choice she decided to see Caleb.

While at the other side

Jason came into the apartment but both ladies were gone. He frowned slightly he decided to give Isabella a call. he immediately dialed her number he could hear her ringtone close by he followed the sound which lead him to the bedroom. Isabella's phone was lying on the dressing table.

“ Damn ” he cursed. She's such a careless person.“

He was confused on what to do cause he didn't have Emily's number. He thought for awhile and called Isabella's chaffeur.

” where did you drop Ms. Andrew last? “

” Yes I was the one who drove miss. I took her to the hospital “ the chaffeur said.

” was she sick or what? “ He asked

”Yes she did look alittle sick ” he said.

Jason quickly asked for the address he drove his sport car there. he was wondering what she was doing at the hospital.

While back at the hospital

Isabella sat close to Caleb she didn't allow him to speak as she went straight to the point “ Jace told me everything” she said as she paused for awhile. “ I know I shouldn't have spoke to you like that last night but it was all your fault for kissing me without my consent.” Caleb you got to move on without me cause am happy with my fiance please don't make things difficult for me “

Caleb forced a smile ” Isabella look into my eyes and say you don't love me “

Isabella looked straight into his beautiful eyes ” I don't love you anymore “ she said.

Caleb was stunned and silent for a while he gave a bitter smile ” I will make you fall in love with me again. You are the only girl I will love for the rest of my life, even in the next I will still choose you over anyone or anything.

Isabella sigh loudly “ you have to give up on me cause I love someone else do you understand just go back to California.”

Caleb smiled ” have heard you. I will go back to California with my beloved lady . I will keep chasing you until you are mine again this time I won't let you down “ he said.

Isabella felt annoyed with his behavior ” am done talking to you she said as she got up to leave she headed to the door. Caleb suddenly called out to her with all his strength “ Bella! ”kuh-kuh-kuh “ he kept coughing violently.

Isabella panicked as she rushed up to him she quickly poured a glass of water for him cause he was weak she had to help him hold the glass as he downed the water. At that moment the door opened revealing Jason.

Isabella was so shocked that the cup fell from her hand shattering completely. The nurse were very alert as they rushed in to check if someone was injured.

Isabella swallowed, she shouldn't have come here she thought in her head she had just resolved her conflict with him last night and now they are about to have another one.

Jason muscles twitched as his handsome face turned slightly dark.
