Chapter 76: Chapter 76

After we left the cafe, it was in the evening when Coach said he wanted to show us all something.

We obliged and dragged ourselves out of bed, well I did, and trust me while I say this. It was indeed worth it!

We stopped when we got to a brightly lit place that was bustling with people despite the fact that it was in the evening.

Different companies and shops had their front light on and it wasn't white! It was more like neon colors. Well, it was beautiful.

I saw a neon sign of McDonald's. This was a very beautiful place! It would be a waste if we didn't get to see it before we left!

"Times Square is a major commercial intersection, tourist destination, entertainment hub, and neighborhood in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It is formed by the junction of Broadway, Seventh Avenue, and 42nd Street. Together with adjacent Duffy Square, Times Square is a bowtie-shaped space five blocks long between 42nd and 47th Streets."

"Brightly lit at all hours by numerous billboards and advertisements as well as businesses offering 24/7 service, Times Square is sometimes referred to as "the Crossroads of the World",[2] "the Center of the Universe",[3] "the heart of the Great White Way",[4][5][6] and "the heart of the world".[7]

One of the world's busiest pedestrian areas,[8] it is also the hub of the Broadway Theater District[9] and a major center of the world's entertainment industry.[10] Times Square is one of the world's most visited tourist attractions, drawing an estimated 50 million visitors annually.[11] Approximately 330,000 people pass through Times Square daily,[12] many of them tourists,[13] while over 460,000 pedestrians walk through Times Square on its busiest days.[7] The Times Square-42nd Street station has consistently ranked as the busiest in the New York City Subway system, transporting more than 200,000 passengers daily.[14]

Formerly known as Longacre Square, Times Square was renamed in 1904 after The New York Times moved its headquarters to the then newly erected Times Building, now One Times Square.[15] It is the site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop, which began on December 31, 1907, and continues to attract over a million visitors to Times Square every year,[16] in addition to a worldwide audience of one billion or more on various digital media platforms.[17]

Times Square, specifically the intersection of Broadway and 42nd Street, is also the eastern terminus of the Lincoln Highway, the first road across the United States for motorized vehicles.[18]"

Instead of taking pictures with us in it, everyone took pictures of the people walking to and fro.

"I'm pretty sure there are some of you that would like to get souvenirs."

"Yes!"

"Of course!"

"Alright alright. You can get them tomorrow cause we're leaving next tomorrow. The trip was meant to last 3 days at most."

"Noo!"

"Well, that's the instructions the principal gave me and I have to follow it unfortunately. Sorry, guys."

"Aww!"

With sullen faces, we walked around the Times Square but when we saw fascinating things our moods lifted up.

The day was fun even though it was the end. The next day was for shopping for souvenirs.

We got up by around 8am and ate our breakfast. Then we headed out for our souvenir hunting.

I got a white and blue t–shirts that said I love NY for the twins, a mug with the flag of New York for Beatrix and finally for Caspian, I couldn't decide what to choose since I didn't know the boy's taste.

So I walked up to his brother for help. He was looking at hairpins when I got to where he was.

Hairpins? That's feminine.

"Oh, thank God you're here. Get over here." He said suddenly pulling me to his side.

I looked up at his face before looking down at the hairpins.

"You're getting a hairpin for your Mum?" I asked taking a black bow shaped one.

"Yeah. What do you think of this blue?" He asked waving a bunny shaped hairpin at me.

"A bunny shaped hairpin? Really?" I asked in disbelief.

"Why not?"

"I don't know. Maybe I'll get one each for the twins as well." I replied with a smug smile and he frowned.

"It's childish."

"Duh! I'm sorry did you see the color? That's way too flashy!" I exclaimed and he pouted.

"I don't know what to get her then!" He yelled and I rolled my eyes before taking it to a black silk scarf.

It had stones on it forming a terrific design. I was pulled in by the designs as I ran my hand on it feeling overwhelmed with the feeling.

"That's 20 dollars ma'am." I heard making me look up at once.

The shopkeeper was smiling at me like I told her I'm made with money. I mean, I could afford it but, I don't want to.

I was just admiring the scarf for New York's sakes! 20 freaking dollars?! Hold on to your horses!

"I was just looking, thanks."

She nodded her head with a smile before turning to another customer. I took a last glance at the scarf before a sigh. I looked up at Quinnel to see him looking at the scarf.

"You want to get a scarf for her?" I asked and he blinked.

"Nah. My Mum doesn't use a scarf."

"Oh. Then how about you get her something she uses. Like a... hair tie! All girl uses a hair tie." I said with a shrug.

He was about to respond when someone cleared their throat. I blinked and tilted my body a little bit to a see a girl right beside Quinnel with a barbed hair.

"Some... girls." I corrected almost immediately and she nodded her head before going back to what she was doing.

I widened my eyes and looked to Quinnel to see him pursing his lips trying to hold his laugh.

"Let's go, please." I muttered and he pulled me along. Once we were somehow out of earshot from the girl, he bursted into laughter making me sigh before I chuckled and then the next thing I knew, we were laughing our heads off.

"This... is... so... unfair..." I choked.

"But it's funny." Quinnel said and I shook my head to purse my lips.

"Stop laughing, Navaeh. Just stop laughing." I mumbled shaking my hand.

Once I was able to blink the tears away, I looked to Quinnel to see his shoulders still shaking but he wasn't laughing anymore.

I rolled my eyes to look around when I saw a action figure shop.

"Does Caspian like action figures?"

"Yeah. His new obsession is Frozen. Why?" He asked his eyes diverting to the shop as well.

"I was just asking." I replied shrugging my shoulder.

"Huh." He replied thoughtfully.

"Let's go look for a gift for your Mum then." I said with a smirk.

Finally found the perfect souvenir for Caspian.

"Do you know her shoes size?"

"Size? Nah."

"Ugh. How would you not know her shoe size?"

"Well, I don't buy her shoes. She buys her own shoes." He replied and I rolled my eyes.

"Postcards."

"Maybe I should get a postcard." He said and I shook my head.

"I don't like receiving a postcard though I think I might buy one for myself, but it's kinda useless. How about you get her a jewelry? She uses them, doesn't she?" I asked and he nodded his head.

"Sometimes." He replied and I nodded.

"Great. Then you'll buy a jewelry for her. "

"Maybe I'll get a set, you know the whole stuff? Earrings, Necklace, Bracelet." He asked and I smiled.

"Now, that's the souvenir spirit!" I yelled with a smile before hitting his arm.

"And you say I'm the attention drawer." He said instead with a snort.

"Well you are. And you know it." I replied with a roll of my eyes.

"So are you." He mumbled and I rolled my eyes.

"You know where to get the jewelry don't you?" I asked turning my head to see the action figure store a little bit farther.

"I should be able to locate one." He replied with a shrug.

"Great. Meet you back here in 30 minutes?" I asked and he eyed me suspiciously.

"Okay then."

"Go on then." I said shooing him with my hand. He tilted his head and sucked in a breath.

"You're not going to get something for Caspian right?" He asked and I shook my head almost immediately.

"I'm going to get... Snow Globes!" I yelled once my eyes met with a fancy looking snow globe in a shop not too far from us.

"For the twins." I added with a smile.

"Huh. See you then."

"Kay. Bye! Go on, where I'm going isn't that far." I said pointing at the shop.

"Alright, then. I'll meet you in front of that shop in 30 minutes."

"30 minutes."

He nodded his head and waved at me before tucking his hand in his jacket pockets and then he turned on his heels and walked away.

I waited till he was far before I turned around to see the Action Figure store. I walked towards it and in no time, u was there.

"Hello. Welcome to Action Figures. What type are you looking for?" An attendant came to me as soon as I stepped in.

"Not sure yet. I was hoping to look around and if I'm stuck, I'll definitely call on you."

"Alright. Have fun."

"I will. Thanks." I said and proceeded to walk into the store.

I looked through the Marvel universe before I chose a Thor with his hammer in his hand looking like he was ready to kill, Captain America with his shield like he was shielding himself while the other hand that was in the air was holding a sword and finally a Captain Marvell with her right hand rolled in a fist and pushed into the air with her face looking up, she was flying.

I nodded at the gifts and I was about to walk away when I saw a frozen full set.

I looked at the price tags beneath to see $10 per box. That's expensive but...

I grabbed three boxes off the shelf before walking to the counter with all six boxes.

I rang it up and it turned out to be $60. I sighed and paid for it anyways.

"Navaeh?" I heard Jake's voice and I turned my head to him.

"Hey, you." I greeted him while the sales girl bagged what I had paid for.

"Here to get a gift for your sister?" He asked.

"Sisters. They're twins. And yeah. Same goes for you, I assume."

"Yeah. I was thinking of getting this for her but I don't know if she would like it." He mumbled raising the package in his hand.

I moved my eyes from his face to the red package in his hand. It was an Elena of Avalor full package.

"Of course, she would love it! My sisters watch Frozen and I got a Frozen pack for them." I said with a shrug.

"Huh. I guess I'll get this then. Thanks."

"I didn't do nothing but you're welcome." I said with a smile before turning around to accept the bag.

"I've got something else to buy, so I'll head out first."

"Oh okay. See you later then."

"Yeah, bye."

"My regards to Nell."

"Nell?" I asked in confusion and he nodded.

"Quinnel."

"Oh! Quinnel! Nell! Oh sure, I'll send your regards."

"Thanks."

I smiled and walked to the exit strolling out.

Nell... Why didn't I think of that nickname?!

I slapped my forehead before walking to the shop where I was to meet Quinnel only to pause in my steps when I saw Quinnel chatting with a blonde all while beaming with smiles like she was the world's most popular comedian!

"What the fuck?"
