Chapter 45: Chapter 45

"Why?" She asked and Navaeh shook her head biting on her lower lip.

Even she didn't know why she didn't like the fact that the guy was in her school. She fiddled with her fingers before she sighed.

"I guess I have to apologize and make him feel welcome." She said and soon, the speaker came to life. Literally.

"Navaeh Thatcher, to the Administration Office."

She looked at Ashley who had a frown on her face.

"What's up?" She asked and Navaeh shook her head again.

"I repeat, Navaeh Thatcher to the Administration Office."

"Well, I guess there's only one way to find out." Ashley replied and after she finished her sentence, the bell rang indicating the commencement of classes.

"I'll see you later." Ashley managed to say and off she went through the sea of people.

While everyone was scrambling to go into their classes, Navaeh was scrambling to go to the Administration Office ever so slowly.

She counted her footsteps and soon, she found herself in front of the door. Administration Office was written on a black platter which was mailed to the door. She took a deep breath and knocked on it slightly.

"Come in." She heard from within and she twisted the knob opening the door before she stepped into the room.

She closed the door after her before taking the room in. Or rather the people in the room.

Sitting behind the desk was their Administration Officer who was smiling at her. But that wasn't where her eyes was trained on rather the guy in front of the smiling man.

He turned around slowly and she gulped at his cold stare at her.

"So, Miss Thatcher... We have a new transfer student." The man started and Jake faced him.

"We have heard reports of him being bullied in his former school for being a black, and so someone recommended our school to him as you, being a black, is a well known figure in this school. Some people's role model, I dare say."

She watched as Jake turned his head to the side with a twitch in his hand as if saying 'Role Model of this bitch? Yeah right.'

"I want you to give him a tour by Lunch and familiarize him with the school. You can help him with his studies as well until he's well into the school. You understand what I mean, don't you?"

She finally looked away from Jake's head and gave a small nod to the man.

"Alright. Jacob, this is Navaeh Thatcher. I think you guys should have no trouble in going along well with each other since you know, you're both blacks."

"That's what I thought." Jake mumbled to himself which Navaeh's keen ears picked up but the man didn't.

"Alright sir. I would do my best." She said and he nodded.

"I trust you would. Classes should have begun. You're dismissed." He said and Jake stood up.

"Thank you sir." Jake greeted with a bow and out the door he went without sparing Navaeh as much as a glance.

Navaeh immediately scrambled out of the door after him so she had the chance to talk to him before he left for his class.

She saw him taking large strides with his hands in his pocket.

"Jake!" She yelled out and Jake stopped for a brief second before he continued walking.

She saw he wasn't stopping and so she picked up her feet and ran after him. Jake noticed she was running now and so he walked even faster almost running while he walked.

Navaeh stopped heaving heavily. He was walking outside meaning he meant on skipping his first class. She looked at the empty hallway and immediately bent down to pull off on of her shoes.

She weighed it in her hand and thought it wasn't too heavy. She flung it his way and anticipated while she watched it fall a few feet to his leg.

She let out a groan as he simply eyed the shoe on the floor and with a 'tsk' sound, he walked away.

She huffed and took her shoe from the ground running after him with one of her leg hopping. She pushed the door open and saw that she didn't see him up ahead again.

She let out yet another groan of frustration. She looked awkward. She was standing with one leg up in the air which she later let down to rest on her shoed feet. Her sneakers was in one hand as she tried to wipe her sweat away frantically.

"What are you doing?" She heard behind her and happily she turned around forgetting she was supposed to do it slowly since she was basically standing on one leg and so she stumbled and felt her body falling.

Her hands flailed in desperation to hold onto something to steady her from falling as she watched Jake looking at her expressionlessly with no move to even help her.

Letting out a yelp, she closed her eyes and braced herself for the impact of her butt landing on the hard ground which never came.

Jake had, at the last minute, held her waist up much to his own disapproval to not let her fall.

She peered her eyes open to see Jake holding her waist up so she wouldn't fall and his face dangerously close to hers.

She wanted to say thank you and that he could release her when he smiled. A chilling one.

"Sayonara." He said and like that he let go of her waist.

"Ha!" Navaeh let out another yelp and her butt finally kissed the long awaited floor.
