Chapter 39: Chapter 39
The guy was black as well, his brown hair was shaved into a low cut and his blue eyes contrasted it. He had pink lips despite the fact that he was light brown in colour. And I have to say, this dude is hot!
Two fingers snapped in front of me and I realized I was still holding on to my forehead with a scowl pulled on my lips and I didn't release it.
"Huh?" I asked absentmindedly when I saw his thin lips move.
"I said are you okay?"
"Why did you collide into me?" I snapped and he jumped a little to the back.
"No I didn't. You were the one looking at whatever it is you were looking at over there and I was looking forward. And then bam! You collided into me." He said and I blinked.
"There is no way you wouldn't have caught me before I even collided into you if you truly were looking forward." I said dropping my hand and crossed it in front of me.
"Fine. I was looking for my sister." He said and I snorted.
"That's right you were." I muttered.
Of course, I didn't believe him.
"Anyways, do you have an headache? A concussion? Oh please don't have a concussion." He said and I chuckled.
"Consider yourself lucky. I don't have an headache neither do I have a concussion."
"Oh great. Uhh, do you want to maybe sit down?" He asked.
"Nah. I'll pass. I was on my way to somewhere you know." I said and he eyed my bag before bobbing his head slowly.
"I guess I'll see you around then." He said and I nodded and turned around to leave.
"Jake!" A small voice called followed by giggles of other kids.
"Hey! Come over here!" I heard again and I turned around subconsciously, thinking it was me he was talking to.
Until I saw his eyes trained on a girl not less than Three at most. She was on one of the duck as she giggled while moving it around.
"He actually has a sister." I said to myself and he turned around.
"Hold on, you thought I was lying?" He asked with a slight chuckle.
"Don't trust everything you hear Jake. Don't." I said with a grin and I turned around waving.
"Sayonara!"
"Hold on, I didn't get your name before." He said and I paused before I turned around slowly.
"Yeah, I never said it. Bye!" I said and grinned at him before I walked away plugging the earphone back in my ear.
Shopping for everything I wanted, I walked back to the bus stop. My head subconsciously turned to the park when I walked by it and I saw most people had left, Jake and his sister included. But if they came to this park, it would only mean one thing.
They lived nearby. I shrugged and walked away. Why stress myself with his thoughts? The chances of seeing him again was one to none.
I was about to take a turn to my street when I head a honk behind me. I stepped away from the sidewalk even though it was where I was supposed to walk but some damned bastards just like to pick on Blacks.
I heard another honk again and I was ready to give the driver a piece of black mind. The heck exactly is his problem? Should I float?
I turned around with a scowl and I saw a Wine colored Honda car behind me. I walked to it when I saw a woman's hand stick out and wave at me. I recognized the woman. Mrs Ashford.
"Hello, Ma'am." I greeted and she smiled.
"Are you going home?" She asked and I looked up at my familiar street. The one I was facing when I was walking just now.
Am I going home? Nah, I'm going on a tour.
"Yes ma'am." I replied nonetheless.
"Oh great. Hop in let me give you a lift. I'm heading home as well." She said and I almost rolled my eyes.
I know you're going home. Its obvious. You're facing the way to your house!
"Thank you ma'am." I said and she smiled at me. I walked to the other side of the car stealthily, pulled the door open and slid my body into the car settling my butt on the leather sit.
"So Quinnel told me you guys are good friends now." She said and I turned to her.
"Yes ma'am." I replied and she rolled her eyes. Something I thought was childish, this woman is actually doing it! I love her!!!
"Please, call me Beatrix." She said with a chuckle and I nodded my head with a smile.
"Sure, ma– I mean, Beatrix." I corrected when she almost turned her head to give me what I suppose would definitely be a glare.
"It would take a while for me to get used to that." I said and she nodded her head.
"Please. So, he said the twins has to stay over at someone's while you're out working? And he said you told him you didn't want to bother my family when he offered them to stay over at ours." She said with a stern look and I stiffened before nodding slowly.
"Look, Navaeh, it's definitely no trouble and I would totally love the company if the twins would stay over while you're out working. I mean, imagine the whole fun they would have with Caspian. They are in the same class aren't they?" She continued and I confirmed it with a weak yes.
She parked in front of my house right where Quinnel parks.
"So, they're of the same age bracket they would most certainly have so much fun. And I heard you don't want to go the trip as well?"
Quinnel you're a blabber mouth!
"So, I would actually appreciate it if you can think it over. The trip would be fun and the kids would have fun as well. I would pick them up after school and they'll go over to mine till you guys are back from the trip. I really think they, the twins I mean and even Caspian, would love it actually. It's always fun to have company around." She concluded and I pursed my lips.
"So, think about it and you can give me your response through Quinnel. Yeah?" She asked and brought her hands up to clean my tears that I didn't even know was falling down.
"Thank you ma- Beatrix. I'm really grateful for this." I croaked and she smiled.
"It's nothing really. I get to exercise my body a little bit as well." She said and I knew she was lying.
She had all the exercise she wants at her job.
"Alright, go on. The twins are getting anxious already." She said patting my cheeks.
"Okay. Thank you once again." I said and she smiled.
"I'll be waiting for a positive response. Bye now! Quinnel has been calling for like forever." She said and I chuckled and sniffed.
I got off the car and once she saw I was on our front porch she drove off waving and I waved back at her.
