Chapter 38: Chapter 38
They still looked at me but I could tell they were trying so hard to look away.
"Will you tell me?" I asked.
Aerin looked to her sister and Aelin did the same. They faced me back and gave me a nod which made me raise a brow at them.
"Since when do you guys keep things only between yourself?" I asked a little sternly but they didn't even move a muscle.
"Oh really? Alright then." I said and stood up crossing my arm. When I saw they still didn't look up at me, I walked to my door and pulled it open.
"Out my room you go." I said a hand still over my chest and the other pointing out to the hallway.
They looked up at me and their eyes widened that a look of guilt flashed through their eyes.
I looked away and I heard shuffling some seconds after. I looked to my side a little bit to see them getting off the bed.
They walked towards the door leaving me in utter disbelief. I still couldn't beat to see them leave when I saw that thing– Whatever it was– was making them so sad.
I opened my mouth to talk only a 'hmph!' jumping out of my mouth instead at the impact around my leg.
I looked down to see them latching their body to my leg while they rubbed their faces into my knee hogging it.
They looked up at me and I frowned.
Tears was at the brim of Aelin's eyes as her green eyes looked up at me in pure sadness.
Aerin wasn't looking at me hiding her expression only in my knee. and I knew she wasn't crying.
Aelin might have a sharp tongue, retort even at the slightest abuse– even to elders– but she was a soft teddy.
"Hey, what's wrong?" I asked bending down and immediately Aerin unlatched her hands away looking down.
"School was shit." Aerin said and I frowned at her choice of word. But I said nothing at it. They seemed angry.
"Why? What happened at school today?" I asked and they looked at each other as if choosing a representative to go and defend their point during a debate.
"Was it that stupid teacher of yours?" I asked with a hint of anger.
Their eyes turned to me immediately and I knew by their expression. It was that bitch.
"I swear–"
"Don't swear, Vee." A small voice cut me off before I could even say it to the end.
I sighed and rubbed my face in anger.
"What did she do this time around?" I asked and they sighed.
"So, today at school. You know that woman is somewhat Racist?" Aelin asked and I nodded my head a frown coming up on my forehead in a second.
"So, this morning she asked us to submit our assignments. We did and then she called me and Aerin out saying we had got one wrong."
"Got one wrong? But that's like... Impossible. It's absurd." I said.
I wasn't bragging. This two girls in front of me were more intelligent than I am. I think I've said it before, our parents are intelligent. Well, figures. They're both outstanding lawyers.
Aerin was the one that continued.
"Well, she was the wrong one and it turned out she had been marking the wrong answer right for the ones she marked before us. We tried to explain–"
"–We really did!" Aelin cut in and I looked at her.
"I know I sometimes come off as a rude kid but I don't do it to that woman. She just hates us... For no stupid reason." She muttered the end to herself and I patted her head.
"Then she flared up in anger. "Are you black brats trying to teach me my work?! I've been teaching way before you were born! Who do you think you are?!" were her exact words. Then the class snickered at us when she asked us to stand outside the class."
"Caspian didn't." Aelin piped in and Aerin rolled her eyes.
"Well of course. I'm sure he didn't laugh at the funny scene." She retorted.
"That bitch." I seethed and both eyes snapped to me.
"Do you think she would still be in school?" I asked and they shook their head vigorously.
"I doubt it. She's normally out of school as soon as the bell rings."
"Oh Goodness, she's fucking lucky." I continued and they looked at each other before giggling.
"What?" I asked with a pout.
"Nothing. You look funny." Aelin said and like that they ran out of my room.
I shook my head with a smile and walked to the closet. About that teacher, we would see to it tomorrow.
Dressed in a sweatshirt and a skirt, I walked out of the room with my bag on my arm.
"Guys, I'm leaving!" I called out and they replied an okay before I walked downstairs.
I pulled the door open, plugged in my earphones and played one random Sam Smith song. Dirty Boy came up and I sighed before I walked into the scorching sun.
I was walking by the park when a voice caught my ears even though I was using earphones. I removed one of the earphones and turned my head to the voice before I realized it wasn't the twins voice. Goodness, now I'm hearing things?
As I was about to turn around, I collided head on with someone that had freshly peeled tangerine scent.
"Ow!" I said running my forehead as I looked up at whoever it was to see the person–a fine black guy– looking down at me with a worried look.
The guy was black as well, his brown hair was shaved into a low cut and his blue eyes contrasted it. He had pink lips despite the fact that he was light brown in colour. And I have to say, this dude is hot!
