Chapter 36: Chapter 36
I slipped mine back into my bag to look up to see the siblings in front of me arguing.
"Uhh, you do know we're going back to the same house right? What's the use of fighting over this?" Zaire asked and Ashley rolled her eyes with a scoff.
"Exactly, I'm not a child. I can hold my own form by myself." She replied.
"And lose it like you did last time?" He asked with a hint of amusement in his voice.
Ashley's face turned red immediately and she pushed up her glasses as though it would cover her whole face.
"It was just one time! And it most certainly wasn't intentional!" She replied with a flustered voice.
"That one time was a day to the trip! Thank goodness Connie–" Zaire stopped immediately and eyed his sister who now had a scowl on her face.
I turned my head to Heaven to see the same look that was on my face was on hers as well.
"Okay, ummm- So... Where do you guys think we're going for the trip?" I asked and all eyes turned to me.
I shrugged at Zaire when Ashley looked down at her food.
"Yeah, I want us to go to maybe London or something." Heaven added and I looked at her with a thankful gaze.
"That's Ashley's dream country. London. Ashley, don't you think it'll be like really great if we go go London?" Zaire asked and Ashley looked up at him with a boring gaze.
"Not anymore. I think I'll opt out on this trip." Ashley replied and my eyes widened.
She was always the most enthusiastic about the trips. All the time!
"You can't do that! Who would be my friend there then? There would be practically nobody to talk with." Heaven retorted almost immediately.
I'll be there. I wanted to say but I kept my mouth shut at the slightest tweak in Ashley's face.
"Umm, Quinnel and Zaire would be there." Ashley replied pointing her fork at me and Zaire.
"Yes, but that's during the day. You don't possibly expect me to sleep with them in the same room, do you? I want to chat with you till late at night." She replied and Ashley smiled.
"For reals?!" She asked.
"Yeah! And it's my first trip! I want it to be memorable! Come on, tell me you'll go."
Ashley looked at her with slitted eyes.
"If this is a ploy to make me go... Then it's working." She said finally.
"Shit, it's your first trip?" She asked and Heaven glanced at me before she nodded her head briefly.
I reached under the table and squeezed her hand which she gave me a grateful smile for.
I replied the smile and looked up meeting with Zaire's face immediately who was looking at me with a knowing smile.
I rolled my eyes and looked away looking down at the pasta for the first time on my table in front of me.
"You got me pasta?" I asked with a squeezed face looking up at the Culprit.
"Shhh!" He shut me up immediately.
I raised a brow at him and he pointed at Ashley.
"Fine. I'll go. For you though." She said finally and Heaven grinned at her.
"Great!" She exclaimed excitedly and Ashley laughed with Heaven joining in her laugh.
I shook my head at the two girls and I noticed my hand was still wrapped in Heaven's hand but I didn't pull away. I don't want to.
She made no move to pull away as well and that pulled a smile on my lips and before I knew it I was grinning.
"Is he going crazy?" I heard suddenly and I looked up at Ashley pointing at me.
Zaire chuckled and Heaven did the same. I rolled my eyes at them and continued poking at my food.
"Don't you like the pasta?" I heard beside me and I turned my head to Heaven.
"Yeah. Someone just thought it was fun to get it for me." I replied with a groan and Zaire grinned at me.
I shook my head at him and debated chucking a forkful of pasta at him. But that would be too messy and it would ruin his uniform seeing it was white.
"Did you hear what I said?" Heaven asked and I blinked at her.
"What?"
"I said do you want to trade food?" She asked again gesturing at her plate where two slices of pizza sat.
"Can we?" I asked looking down at her plate and then her face.
"Sure." She replied with a smile and a nod.
"Just eat half each." Ashley suggested with a roll of her eyes.
"Keep rolling your eyes like that–"
"–and it would actually get stuck."
"–and it would actually get stuck."
I turned my head to Heaven as we had said the same words. She practically finished my sentence for me.
She grinned and her eyes formed crescent shapes and I felt my heart skip another beat.
Then I knew it was official. I looked away from her and to Zaire's face.
He was right. Damn, I still have a crush on Heaven!
I looked down at my food my hand still radiating a warmth I couldn't possibly ignore. Our hands was still entwined and none of us made the move to remove our hands.
I smiled at the thought.
'Seems like you're not the only one that has the feelings.' An angel on my right shoulder said in my ears and my smile widened.
'Oh please, she might have actually forgotten to pull her hand away. Don't tell me you actually think she likes you? After what you did to her? You've only reconciled for what, two months? And you're already expecting more? Don't get ahead of yourself boy!' A demon whispered in my ears and I frowned.
I shook away the two Imaginary figures on my shoulder and I focused on the scene in front of me.
She was holding my hand and I was doing the same. We aren't pulling away. I would rather savour this moment right now than think of what was to come.
