Chapter 35: Chapter 35

I turned my head subconsciously to them to see they were now holding hands walking to the cafeteria.

I stared at Heaven's back till they disappeared amongst the crowd.

"You see, you obviously like her. Yet you keep denying it." He said and I didn't reply him.

"Well, come on then. I'm starving." He said tugging me towards the Cafeteria.

"Can I meet you guys there? I have to pick something up real quick." I said and he raised a brow at me.

"This has something to do with her doesn't it?" He asked and I crossed my arm raising my brow at him.

"Fine. What do you want?" He asked and I sighed.

"Anything you get. But if it's Hamburger–"

"–Lesser mayo. I know, bud. I'm your Best friend."

"Thanks man. I'll be quick", I said and turned around walking to the administration office.

Once I got there, I knocked at the door.

"Come in", I heard a gruff reply.

I turned the knob that I had my hand on before and pulled the door open go reveal a man sitting behind a desk with a half crescent glasses perched on his nose.

He typed away without looking up at me with his keyboard making the familiar clank at every pressed key on it.

"Good day sir", I greeted and he finally looked up at me.

"Oh, Quinnel Ashford. How are you doing today?" He asked and I nodded my head with a smile.

"Very well, sir."

"Good good. Have a seat." He said gesturing towards the seat in front of him.

I took the seat and looked back up at him.

"What can I help you with?" He asked and before I could talk, he slapped his forehead.

"Pardon my hospitality, what would you like to have? I have beverages and mango juice." He said and I immediately shook my head.

"Nothing sir, thank you. It's Lunch already. I just popped in here to get the forms for the trips that the final year students have in two weeks time." I replied and he nodded his head.

"I see you're going on this trip as well." He said and I nodded.

"Same reason? Or an entirely different reason this time around?"

"A different reason sir." I replied.

"Oh? That's good! Like you said, it's Lunch. Don't let me waste your time and let me get the forms for you." He said with a smile.

"Now, where did I put those forms?" He asked no one in particular rummaging through the papers on his desk.

I know, he's being unusually friendly to me. He was a friend of my father when he was still alive. His best friend in fact.

My eyes drifted to the picture on his table to see three albums.

One with him and his wife, One with him and his wife and children and the last one was a younger self of him and someone– His best friend. My Father.

They both looked young at the time and I heard it was their first anniversary as best friends in college.

"Ha! There they are!" He said and I looked away from the picture I noticed I had been staring at way too long.

He stood up and grabbed the papers before dropping them in front of him.

"So, will you getting for Zaire as well?" He asked and I nodded.

"I'll be getting Four." I added and he raised his brow at me.

"Umm, one for me, one for Zaire, one for his sister and the last one for the main reason I'm going on this trip." I said and he grinned at me.

"Is it Navaeh Thatcher?" He asked and I blinked at him before nodding my head slowly.

He was more like a father figure to me. He was there for us when my Dad died and he really tried his best.

I had respect for this man more than you can actually imagine.

And yes, he knew about the relationship between Ashley and Zaire. All the higher ups in this school knew and it was a condition both siblings agreed on before they got enrolled in the school.

Ever since Ashley heard her brother was joining the basketball team, they decided on that condition.

"All right. Here you go." He said and I stretched my hand to collect the four papers.

"Thank you sir." I greeted and stood up.

"Regards to your Mum and that little lad, yeah?"

"I think he would prefer to be called a man." I joked and he laughed.

"Yeah, he definitely would." He replied with a chuckle.

"All right. I'll definitely relay your regards. Have a good day sir." I said and he nodded his head with a wave.

"You too, son."

I opened the door to his office and walked out closing it with a soft clink.

I looked down at the forms in my hand and smiled before I walked to the Cafeteria.

All eyes turned to me as I stepped into the Cafeteria. Used to it, I was unfazed as I walked to the table where Heaven, Ashley and Zaire sat talking.

Ashely and Zaire sat beside each other and opposite Heaven who still had an empty space beside her.

"Hey guys." I greeted planting my butt on the space beside Heaven.

"Hi." They greeted at once and I shrunk back a little.

"Where did you go?" Heaven asked and I grinned at her pulling out the forms.

"Oh, you got the forms already!" Zaire said snatching them from me.

He took two and passed two back to me.

I took one and stretched it to Heaven who eyed the form before she looked up at me.

"I told you I'm not going." She muttered under her breath and I rolled my eyes at her.

"Here you go." I said and shoved it into her hand.

"You're so stubborn." She mumbled and pushed the form into her bag.
