Chapter 29: Chapter 29

Quinnel

"Hey, Man!" Zaire yelled waving at me. He was dressed in a blue and yellow tank top and shorts with white Nike Air sneakers.

He knew I was coming to him yet he chooses to yell and wave at me from afar. Sometimes, I feel like he behaves so weirdly. And that was exactly what I told him when I reached him.

"Dude, you're so weird." I said dropping the ball to my feet.

"Dude you're so weird." He replied mimicking.

"Dickhead." I muttered and shook my head.

"I hope you brought a bottle of water?" He started catching the ball swiftly as it bounced up and down.

"No, why?" I asked and he smirked at me.

"Why not? You would need it to cry into." He said and like that he was off running to the basket.

"Dude, that's not fair! That's so against the rule. You don't start a game when the opponent isn't ready." I yelled after him.

"Rules? I don't remember talking about one," He said and I stopped glaring at him.

He threw the ball in his hand over his head and into the basket behind him.

"Oh, and 5 points for the Prince!"

I shook my head and walked to the basket taking the ball.

"Well then, Prince. I hope you brought your assistants, cause you're gonna need someone to carry you home when you cry after getting your ass beaten in a measly but friendly basketball game by a commoner!" I said and ran to the opposite direction.

He ran after me and tried to stop the ball from going into the hoop. Emphasis on tried.

"And five points for the Commoner!" I said with a smirk and he glared.

"Fine. Let's set the rules." He said planting his feet to the ground.

"Oh now, the Prince wants to go by tye rules? Shocker!" I said and he laughed while I followed.

"Okay first, I'm a guy that follows the rules even if the coach is about to kill us in practice and number two, Dude, I'm pretty sure I'm not a prince. Stupid Prince." He said and I blinked at him before I laughed again.

"At least someone is happy." He said sarcastically and that stopped my laugh almost immediately.

"What up prince?" I asked and he rolled his eyes walking to the bleachers.

I followed after him and planted my butt beside him.

"So, what happened?"

"Ashley fought with me." He said with a deep sigh.

"Oh, okay. So when are you apologizing? And how do you plan on doing it?" I asked and he turned to me.

"This time it was her fault, okay? She had a fight with her girlfriend, Connie and I was just trying to help and she went all crazy on me. It hurt me though." He said.

"Siblings fight. Okay, what caused the fight between her and Connie? Do you know that?"

"No. I don't. Geez, I should have just stayed in my room." He said rubbing his face with yet another sigh.

"Umm, I don't actually know. I mean, we don't know why she was angry neither do we know how we can appeal to her. So I think we need help."

"Help? To settle a dispute between myself and my twin sister? Wow, this is just too shocking."

"Fine then! Cause I don't actually see how in God's name you even think you can settle the fight. And if you have an idea, can we hear it and if not, quit your whining!"

"I'm not whining." He muttered and I rolled my eyes.

"I'll be fine. Don't worry. Once I get home, I'll try to make a silly joke and maybe she'll laugh and we'll be fine. And if not, I think we need help then. Cause I can't stand fighting with her for a day."

"Yet you do it every blessed day." I replied with a roll of my eyes.

"Fool. That is not fighting. That's... You won't understand. You're not a twin." I

He replied and I shrugged my shoulders.

"Alright then, Come on now, Prince... Let's get playing." I said standing up and he followed.

"Oh God! The relationship of that Kung and me is very far. Stop calling me a prince. That's like so many responsibility."

"Oh come on." I replied and bounced the ball.

"Oh, I get it! You want to be the best friend of a prince. Oh why didn't you tell me? I would gladly be your prince on a white horse." He said with a pout grinning at me.

I blinked at him and then cringed.

"Stop saying that like a damsel in distress. Eww!"

"But you love me like that." He started walking towards me and I moved back.

"Don't touch me." I said and he smiled still walking towards me.

"Help!!!" I yelled throwing the ball at him while I ran.

Navaeh.

"Ten times Ten is a hundred!" Aelin said making me turn my head to her.

"Well, of course it is. Someone arguing with you over that?" I asked and she rolled her eyes making me purse my lips.

I was about to say something when my phone rang cutting through the air.

"I'll be right back." I said standing up and walking to where I was charging my phone even though I had no idea who that might be.

I pulled my charger out of the phone and looked at the screen.

Ashley Hemple was written on it and I frowned. She never called me. This was her first time calling me.

I swiped the green button to the right and placed it on my ear.

"Hey." She croaked.

"Did you cry? Ash come on, did you cry?" I asked and she snorted.

"Can you come and see me?" She asked with a sniff and I looked at my siblings who were looking back at me.

"Hold on." I said and covered the mouthpiece with my hand and moved it away.

"Guys, can I go out for a sec?" I asked and they looked at each other before they nodded.

"Really? You guys would be okay alone?" I asked and Aerin rolled her eyes.

"We aren't kids anymore you know? And more so, Mrs Wheeler isn't home most of the time so we stay alone mostly."

"You didn't tell me Mrs Wheeler wasn't home all the time."

They looked at each other with eyes as wide as saucers. And then looked back at me with a grin on their face.

"Oopsies." They said simultaneously and like that they ran upstairs.

I watched them run and I felt the urge to go after them. I almost did until I heard my name again.

"Neve?"

"Yeah, Ash... I'm still here. Do you know the park close to Maple Street?" I asked.

"Yeah?" She said and sniffed.

"Meet me there in a few minutes. Can you do that?"

"Sure. I'll just get dressed up and I'll be there." She replied.

"Kay. I'll be expecting you."

"Hm." She replied and hung up the phone.

I plugged my phone back and sat on the chair absentmindedly. I wonder why she was crying. And she sounded like she had been crying for some minutes.
