Chapter 30: Chapter 30
I sighed and pulled out my phone again walking upstairs. I grabbed a white and black striped tote bag that had my purse in it and a blue baseball cap with my slippers before I walked to the twins room.
I knocked on their door and the next thing I heard was,
"Have fun!"
Well...
I put my phone in the tote bag and wore the baseball cap and my slippers before walking out of the house my hand stuck in my joggers pocket.
I made it to the park and sat down waiting for Ashley. I breathed in the air and looked at kids playing while their guardians or Parents stayed with them watching over them.
That brought a memory to me.
I was about three back then and all was well. No arguing parents, No breaking things everyday and we were happy.
We had come to this park and I could remember crying for cotton candy while my Mum kept telling me trying to convince me that I had had enough sugar for that day.
Well of course, I only cried more and I finally got my cotton candy that day even though after that, I had a stomach ache and we had to go home immediately.
What I wouldn't do to be in that moment once again. What I wouldn't do to go back in the past and just experience being a normal teenager. What I wouldn't do for everything to be normal.
I sighed and cleaned the stray tear that had fallen in my cheek with the back of my hand.
"Neve?" I heard from behind me and I turned around immediately to see Ashley standing there in a hoodie and leggings. The hood was worn on her head and it shielded half of her face from the sun, the other half covered by a pair of sunglasses.
"Hey." I greeted.
"Hey." She croaked and I smiled patting the space beside me.
"Sorry. I just didn't know who to call. I'm just really frustrated and angry and I have so many things I want to hell out loud but there is no where to do it and it's all messed up." She said and tears fell down her cheek and she made no move to clean it.
"It's all messed up. Life in itself is messed up." She continued and tears kept falling down.
Life's messed up? Tell me about it.
"Cry it all out. You'll be fine. I'm here for you, go on." I said pulling her face into my neck which she gladly accepted and cried her heart out.
"There you go. Release it. Let it all out. You'll be fine. Release it." I said patting her back while she cried and her shoulders shook.
"You okay now?" I asked looking at her. We were now walking around the park for fresh air since she stopped crying. She had bought a tub of ice cream for us both which I tried to protest against but she told me, she pulled me out here so she would cover the expenses.
"Yeah." She nodded her head and dug her spoon into the ice cream taking another bite.
"Ready to talk about it?" I asked and she sighed bringing the tub down.
"We broke up." She said suddenly and my eyes widened.
"What? Why?" I asked and she chuckled.
"It's a stupid and meaningless meaning but it's fine. Anyways, after we broke up and I was very angry about it... Zaire came in and maybe he saw my face looked puffy or something, he offered to help me. You know stay with me and all that..." She paused and I saw a bitter look on her face. A look of regret and sadness. "But... I... yelled at him. I screamed at him to go away. I told him I didn't need his stupid sympathy. I just vented my anger on him. And all he was trying to do was help me. And I yelled at him in return. He looked hurt and he said nothing as he withdrew his hand and walked out of my room slamming the door behind him. When I was back to my senses, I went looking for him. To apologize and tell him I needed his help the most. That I was looking for was his sympathy but he was gone. I couldn't find him in the whole house and I searched hard and long but I still couldn't find him. Then I gave up and just settled with crying."
"Oh... I understand." I said with a nod and she nodded as well.
"I need to apologize to him." She concluded and I nodded.
"And apologize you shall." I said holding her shoulder with a smirk and she raised her brows at me.
"Come on."
"Why are you smirking?" She asked with a slight chuckle in her voice.
"I have a plan."
Following day, Tuesday.
Pushing the door to the hallway open, people turned their heads to me, some people waved and I waved back. It might be fake but definitely wave back cause the next thing you'll hear, you're rude and proud.
I pulled my bag strap and walked to my locker to see Ashley leaning on it. Quinnel was beside her going through his own locker and mumbling some words perhaps talking to Ashley. Zaire and Connie, I noticed, were nowhere in sight.
"Hey, guys!" I greeted and they- I mean Quinnel jumped turning around.
"Why are you so jumpy? All I did was greet you." I said rolling my eyes at him.
"Hey, Ash." I greeted and she gave me a small wave.
"I wasn't jumpy and hello to you too." Quinnel said with a hint of sarcasm.
"Douche." I mumbled inputting my lock.
"Wow, Really? Early in the Morning?" He replied and I stuck my tongue at him.
"Hey, Quin." We heard and we all turned around to see Zaire.
"Coach is calling us." He said gesturing his thumb towards the direction he was coming from.
His eyes went to Ashley and it came back to me before he gave me a wave.
"Oh, come on. Up top!" I yelled raising my hand up with my palm spread open and he chuckled before he slapped his hands unto mine.
"That's enough now. Let's go." Quinnel said rather grumpily and took Zaire's hands away from mine.
"Ooh! Someone is jealous." Zaire said I blinked looking over to Quinnel whose tips of his ears turned slightly pink and he cleared his throat looking at his shoes.
"Didn't you say Coach was looking for us? Let's go." He said and pushed Zaire and I was quick to pull Quinnel back with his bag thereby Zaire was pulled along with him.
"Before you guys leave, we need to clear up this petty fight." I said gesturing between Ashley and Zaire.
"Hey!"
"It's not-"
Once they saw they were both talking, they looked at each other and cleared their throats looking away.
"See what I said? Petty."
"Hold on, how do you know about their fight?" Quinnel asked and all eyes turned to him.
"How do you know about their fight?" I asked him back and he rolled his eyes at me.
"Your eyes gon get stuck some day." I mumbled and he chuckled making me smile in return as my face trailed to Zaire.
"Oh right! Shit, sorry. So, Ashley, got anything you want to say to your... brother?" I said whispering the last part and she rolled her eyes.
"Seriously, what is up with you guys rolling your eyes at me today?" I questioned before Ashley or Zaire or even Quinnel could say a word.
"Can we talk in private?" Quinnel asked and I eyed him in surprise.
His eyes darted to Zaire and Ashley and he looked back at me tilting his head just a little bit to them.
"Oh! Sure! Definitely! We could... Go submit my Pizza assignment together! While you, you know... Tell me whatever it is you want to say." I said and nodded his head.
"We're supposed to submit-"
"So we're going to, you know..." I said cutting Ashley off and immediately turned around walking away with Quinnel.
"Uh, Heaven?" He called and I turned around.
"It's that way." He pointed behind him and I nodded my mouth forming an o sign as I followed behind him.
I turned around to see Ashley and Zaire looking at each other awkwardly.
"Are their fights always like this?" I asked Quinnel looking up.
"Nopes. It's kind of their first fight I know about." He said shrugging.
"Crazy." I muttered and he stopped. I had taken a step when I realized he didn't take it as well.
I turned around to see him looking at the floor. I raised my brows at him and walked to him.
"Dude, you okay?" I asked snapping my fingers in front of his eyes.
"Uhh, Earth to Quinnel? Quinnel to earth? Dude!"
"What?" He questioned and I blinked at him.
"You just like, spaced out. Just looking like burrrrrr. What up?" I asked.
"Nothing. Where is your Baking class?" He asked and I pointed at the class in front of us.
"I'll umm- Wait for you here. Go and uhh, do your thing."
I nodded and walked only to turn back after two steps.
"Are you sure you're okay?" I asked and he nodded giving me a weak smile.
"Hn. I don't believe you." I said and he rolled his eyes.
"I'm fine, Heaven." He said and I walked to him.
"Come over here. Let's go and check up on your dumb friend and his sister."
"Hold on, why is my friend the one that is Dumb and not your own friend?" He asked and I rolled my eyes at him.
"Do you know why Connie and Ashley broke up?" I asked and he shook his head.
"Should we find out?"
"Nopes. Not interested. I'm sure it's some dumb thing and they'll make up in a few days." He replied and shrugged.
"Hopefully. They look beautiful together you know."
"Beautiful? You're crazy." He said laughing.
"What? They do. You can't deny it." I said and he shook his head at me still chuckling.
"What class do you have first?"
"I have no idea. But I don't think I see you on Tuesdays." He replied.
"I hope they have reconciled by the way." I said nodding at Ashley standing at my locker.
"I know."
"Hello." I heard suddenly and we turned around to see a junior.
I looked to Quinnel and saw him looking at me as well. He shrugged and I looked down at the boy.
"Are you talking to us?" I asked and the boy nodded his head.
"Okay. Any problem?"
"Mrs Elsher asked me to call you. Said you should see her in a bit." He said and I nodded my head.
"Do you have any idea why?" I asked and he shook his head.
"Okay then. I'll go and see her now. Thanks you." I said and he smiled before he turned walking away.
"Well, Mrs Elsher is calling me. I'll be right back." I said and Quinnel nodded.
I tugged at my bag strap and walked to the Teacher's room.
