Chapter 16: Chapter 16
"I don't belong to you. I'm not a thing,Vivian." Quinnel said stepping out.
"Q-Q- Quinnel." Vivian stuttered moving back.
"I bet you weren't expecting me to be here." He said moving towards her clutching his toy harder in his hands.
"How much did you hear?" She asked and he scoffed.
"From the beginning." He replied and her eyes widened her jaw dropping.
"How dare you? How could you do this to me?! Are you that selfish?! She was my best friend and you just drifted us apart like it was nothing to you! All for what? To be my friend? I would rather befriend the most poisonous snake in this world than be a friend to a person like you. I hate you." He spat.
"You all are pushing the blame on me now. Why didn't you Quinnel, why didn't you ask your so called best friend for her opinion? Did you ask for her side of the story? Did you? You just turned on her and accused her of taking your stupid toy. Your trust in her is that little. So don't go around blaming me for your own stupidity." She replied and turned walking away.
"I'm so sorry. I promise we'll be away from you in a few days. I'm really sorry for her behavior." Her mother apologized before she ran after her demon of a daughter.
Quinnel fell to the hot sand just staring blankly before he started crying his eyes out.
His Mother found him in the position and she hurriedly took him away from the beach.
Once they got home, Quinnel told his Mother to take them to the Thatcher's. They went there and Navaeh's mother invited them in.
After listening to the explanation, she went to tell the crying Navaeh that her friend was here. Navaeh told her mother she wasn't interested in seeing the bastard's face.
Her Mother tried her best to persuade Navaeh by explaining the situation to her until Navaeh bursted.
"Did you see his eyes? They were so accusing. Like I actually took his toy! I didn't take it. I really didn't take it but he didn't believe me. How could he not believe me? He thinks I'm a thief doesn't he? Then he should leave. I don't want to see his stupid face." She replied tears streaming down her face.
Quinnel tried to go upstairs to see her himself but Navaeh's mother feared their fight was only going to worsen and so she advised them to come back the following day.
They did but Navaeh did the same thing. She refused to see him and always watched him leave.
Ever since then, Quinnel didn't have the chance to apologize and Navaeh avoided him.
FLASHBACK ENDS.
"Her Mum really called her a Demon?" Navaeh asked and I nodded.
"Damn. She was that bad?" She asked chuckling.
"She had no ounce of remorse on her face. So yes, she's that bad." I replied and she sighed.
"Vivian. I wonder whose friendship she's trying to tear apart now." She said and I turned my face to her.
I pulled her into a hug again and I felt her freeze against my body just like it did when I hugged her earlier this evening.
I felt her body relax before she patted my back gently.
"So what's this hug for?" She asked with a smile evident in her voice.
"I'm sorry for not trusting you." I said and she sighed.
"It's fine. And I'm sorry for denying your apology but it felt great at the time." She replied and I laughed.
"It's fine. If I was you, I would deny your apology as well." I said pulling away from the hug.
"Well..." She said and shrugged.
I smiled at her and she smiled in return. We stayed like that and then a door slammed breaking our eye contact.
"Did you hear that?" I asked.
"That was the front door. Shit. My parents are back." She said her eyes widening.
Wait, her parents? The fighting ones?
Don't you dare say that in front of her or she might really just bury you alive this time around. My mind advised.
Before I could say a word, her parents had started talking... Nope, yelling. I guess they're arguing again.
"Oh! You bitch! You did not just say that..."
"And if I did?! You'll hit me?! Be warned, in a fucking lawyer and you know I'm damned good at the job!"
"So fucking what?! I'm a lawyer as well! I'm also good at the damned job! Don't brag to me! Who the hell do you think you are?!"
"I'm your wife! That's who I am!"
"Well, fuck me if I did not make a mistake in that decision!"
"Oh please! Do you really think I'm happy being married to you?! This marriage was my biggest mistake!"
"Come on." She said walking to the window that I passed through the last day I was in her room.
"Oh come on. Not the window." I said ignoring her parents alarming voices from the sitting room.
"Do you see another way? If yes, let's hear it." She said crossing her arm.
"Ugh!" I said making my way to the window.
After I was successfully down, she threw my shoes to me. I picked it up and wore it.
"Sorry for that! Bye!" She greeted.
"Sure. See yah." I said sighing.
"See you tomorrow." She greeted and I waved at her slipping my hands into my pocket preparing myself for a run.
I'm glad I talked to her tonight. What am I saying? I always am glad to talk to her.
Fuck, I was falling for Navaeh... And fast.
But damn, her parents were a handful! If they regretted marrying each other then why not just divorce each other and let your children sleep in peace at night?!
I really do not understand adults at times. It's hard to imagine their youth days. Especially the days of their courting. Must have been a blast!
