Chapter 17: Chapter 17

Navaeh.

One Month later.

Pushing my legs into my black sneakers, I stood up and adjusted my skirt.

"Stupid skirt." I muttered.

"Let's go! And I don't want any yapping this morning." I said and walked out of the door pulling my bag more closer.

"Umm Vee?" Aelin called cautiously and I turned around with a glare.

She whimpered and ran to the back of her sister shielding herself.

"You haven't given us our pocket money." She said and I glared reaching for the side of my bag.

I pulled out the two ten dollar bill and slammed it into their hands.

"I pity her friends at school today." I heard Aerin say.

"Her friends?! I pity everyone that's going to talk to her." Aelin replied and I stopped.

The next thing I saw, the two of them were in front of me holding hands while I followed behind them.

I released a sigh and then grunted.

Wonder why I'm being corky this morning? That's because mother Nature decided to happen! Fucking murder me. I was chilling in my bed when I felt it come. Stupid thing.

Whenever I'm having my period, oh you know better than to annoy me or talk shit with me for the whole time I'm menstruating. The cramps would kick in but it comes later in the evening when I'm off work and alone in my room.

Boarding the bus, I noticed both Aelin and Aerin were silently playing without any ounce of noise.

I said nothing to them either feeling crappy. They waved at me nonetheless and I gave them a small smile while they walked into their school.

The bus stopped and I walked out pulling at my bag straps again. Just fucking stay.

"Hey Neve." I heard as soon as I walked into the hallway making me snap my head.

I looked at them and then faced front back. Myself, Ashley and Connie were more like best friends now. We did almost everything together but I'm still keeping my issue from them. They don't really need to know.

Quinnel has been like... The perfect friend for me. Whenever I was stressed out from having too much customers at the bowling place, he was there to help me massage my feet. He came to my room almost every night now. The twins stay over at their place some days. Not everyday. I didn't want to burden them.

The twins said they loved going there anyways but I didn't let them go everyday.

Zaire is still cocky as always. The dick. I loved him though.

No, God, No. Not romantically. As a friend. He was funny.

"What's up with her?" I heard Ashley ask and I rolled my eyes.

"I don't know. Let's go find out." Connie replied and then I heard footsteps behind me.

"What's up with you?" They ask and I glared.

"Mother Fucking Nature." I replied rolling my padlock to input my locker combination.

"Oh that. Sorry." Connie said and I nodded my head pulling out my Chemistry textbook.

"What subject do you have first?" She asked and I waved my textbook in front of her.

"Oh Chemistry." She said and I pursed my lips. I turned around slamming my locker and everyone's eyes turned on me.

"Don't fucking look at me." I snapped and immediately their eyes went back to their businesses. I saw some people still looking at me and I rolled my eyes.

"Nosy bitches." I muttered walking away. I saw Zaire walking towards me with Quinnel holding a basketball ball. They were both dressed in the school's basketball tank top and shorts so I could only guess they were coming from practice.

"Hey! Up top!" Zaire greeted like he always did and I gave him a wave instead.

"Woah!" Quinnel started pulling me back.

I let out a frustrated sigh and I looked up at him.

"What's up?" He asked and I rolled my eyes.

"The ceiling, the sky, the attic, the birds... I can go on if you want." I replied sarcastically.

"Huh touche. What's really up with you?" He asked and I rolled my eyes.

"None of your business. Can I go now?" I asked and he frowned and then left me.

"Someone is being cranky today." I heard behind me which I noticed to be Zaire's voice.

I walked into the class and being the first and only student, I walked to the back of the class slamming down my books on the table and grumpily took a seat.

I pulled out my earphones and plugged it into my ears. Choosing a song randomly, I put it in shuffle mode instead of order.

Resting my head on the table, I closed my eyes.

Quinnel.

After we were done with practice, Zaire said he had to urinate. Why does he always urinate?!

After he was done, we were walking back to the locker room when I saw Heaven walking to her locker.

"Hey there is Navaeh." Zaire said and before I could rub it in his face that I had already seen her, he was already walking toward her. I followed after him immediately.

"Hey! Up top!" He greeted raising his hand up at Heaven. That was the way he greeted her and Heaven would tease him a little bit before she finally took his high five.

So imagine how shocked I was when she settled it with a simple wave and walked away.

I knew something was wrong. I immediately pushed the ball to Zaire and

pulled her hand back stopping her from going any more further.

"Woah!" flew out of my mouth by the strength that I had to pull her with.

She let out a sigh and then looked at me emotionlessly.

"What's up?" I asked and she rolled her eyes. She looks so cute doing that but that's not the point right now.

"The ceiling, the sky, the attic, the birds... I can go on if you want." She replied sarcastically.

"Huh touche. What's really up with you?" I asked again and she rolled her eyes again.

"None of your business. Can I go now?" She asked and I frowned her choice of words hurting me and I let her go.

She said nothing and turned around walking away with not so much as a backward glance.

I thought we had grown more closer than this. Now something is wrong and it's none of my business? It was in every way my business!

"Someone is being Cranky today." Zaire said and I looked at him before looking back at her retreating back.

"Don't. Leave her." Ashley started and I turned my face to them.

"Leave her? That's what you're going to say? She's acting distant and you're telling us to leave her?" I asked almost yelling and she gasped glaring hard at me.
