Chapter 37: Chapter 37

/Aiden's POV/

"Tell us more!"

I heard the childish whines of the pups the moment I entered the training ground. My eyes immediately went towards Tobias huddled in the corner, rolled onto his back as the litter piled on top of him, their tails going a hundred miles an hour as they demanded to know more. What were pups doing inside the grounds? I thought to myself, eyes searching for Liam when I remembered he had taken a day off.

I found it amusing that when they were pups, all they wanted to do was learn, but by the time they got to the age where they could start training, they'd want to do anything but that. Shaking my head, I walked towards the Alphas sitting on the bench, nodding my head as they greeted me. They followed my line of vision, gazes melting at the sight of pups. I never understood pups; they were a tiny menace, creating trouble. At least I was precisely that, and it annoyed a lot of them around.

"Why are all the pups in here? Their training time is different, right? Didn't Ryan put up this months schedule?"

To ensure that the guards are prepared for all sorts of wars, they are allotted training grounds for an extended period of time compared to pups and betas. No one had a problem with the system, happy to follow, but the timings changed every month. It was made by the beta in charge, Liam, while Ryan, another beta, made sure to inform others and paste the schedule on board to avoid clashes.

Brad, one of the Alphas, cleared his throat. "Alpha Aiden, all the omegas are busy cleaning packhouse today. They didn't want pups messing around, so Tobias is keeping them busy here."

"But here?" I pressed my mouth together.

"Don't worry, Alpha Aiden, we don't have any rogues to fight today."

My shoulders sagged at that. After being cooped up in the cabin for hours to no end with certain blue-eyed omega, I could beat up some rogues. The residual anger that came along with the desire to touch her, knot her was immense, almost driving my Alpha crazy. If not for my self-control, I would have let Rose mount me, fuck her senseless just like she wanted and pump my come inside her all night till the omega was full and satiated.

A groan escaped my lips. Why couldn't I stop thinking about her? It was too much.

"You" I pointed towards one of the guards, eyes narrowed when he trembled. "And me in the ring. Come on!"

If not for rogues, I could fight one of my guards, mess up a little. With that thought, I passed by Tobias when his words rang in my ears.

"What is a Pack Alpha link?" Annie, the smallest of the pups, yelled excitedly, tail a blur.

Tobias made a soft hum in the back of his throat, his body almost sprawled lazily. "It is when a Pack Alpha can talk to all his wolves at the same time, without the outsiders hearing. Works only in between the pack members."

"Then there is mate link," He started as two dozen pairs of eyes gawked at him with acute interest, "is where a bonded wolves can communicate with each other without anyone else hearing. Some of them have bonds so strong that they can do it over long distances. In these links, there are two types; one communicate in words when in each other's direct presence, and the further away they are, the less accurate the communication until it's just basic feelings and emotions."

I stilled, watching in rapt attention as those words took me back to the time I was schooled. Tobias, unaware of my presence looming over him, continued,

"Then comes the stronger type, where the emotion the further it travels, and the stronger the bond, the more accurate the communication. That's why our older generation wolves used to call it the 'Love Language' because love is one of the most powerful emotions in bonds."

"Ew," One of the pups complained loudly, scrunching her nose. "That's gross."

As if they registered my presence, the pups turned over, almost disgruntled at the disturbance. One of them inched towards me, staring with those big brown eyes. "What do you think, Pack Alpha?"

I stifled my annoyance at the question and shrugged.

Wiping the sweat off my forehand after an intense fight where the guard sprinted with tail between his legs, I plopped on the bench. Out of the corner of my eyes, I noticed Caden walking in with a grin on his face. Where has he been all this time? As a trainer, Caden was supposed to be here before everyone else.

Before I could motion towards him, an arm shot out and grabbed at me. Jerking at the touch, I stared at Ria hovering over me with a bag in her hand. My brows raised at that.

"Hi?"

"I thought something might have happened to you in the cabin." She started, sitting down beside me. "It must be awful being inside all alone with that omega. Did she do something to you?"

My eyes automatically shifted to the night of the blizzard. Rose was so submissive, lax in my hold, and well, many things did happen but not what Ria thought.

"Do you not trust my abilities?"

My friend shook her head. "Please, it's her I don't trust. You know how omegas can be manipulative and get their way when they want."

Oh, I knew all about it. My jaw ticked as I thought back to one omega who ruined it all for me, for our pack. I curled my fingers into my palm, giving her a look. "Can we not talk about it? I am tired!"

"That's why I got you some lunch!" She grinned, motioning towards the bag in her hand. "Your favourite—steak and rice."

I mustered a smile on my face even though I was planning on going back to the packhouse. What if Rose went under again? It was clear weather outside, bright, almost blinding with light, but still, my Alpha wanted to check on her.

"Oh no. I already had my lunch, Ria."

She narrowed her eyes. "It's one! You don't have lunch so soon."

"Wow, stalker much?"

"Ooh, forgive me for knowing my best friends eating habits!"

I cracked a smile. It was not a secret that I take late lunch. Ria did work hard on making food for me, but still, I couldn't bring myself to eat it.

"Sorry, we will get lunch together some other time."

"Fine!"

As soon as Ria left the training grounds, my stomach growled with hunger. I was such a fool to let go of steak, especially when it's all I could smell. Quickly slipping into fresh, clean clothes, I made my way to the cabin.

The moment I saw Rose standing in, a wave of frigid anger coursed in my veins at the change in her scent. It made my Alpha claw at my chest, pulse ticking and heart-thumping at a rapid pace. With two strides, I managed to corner her against the wall.

My mouth slacked as I noticed arousal on her face, which was... mesmerising. Not beautiful, or anything like that. I won't let myself think that way about Rose, but I could admit it's an exciting sight. It's just so refreshing to see the omega displaying any sort of emotion besides fear or indifference. Her soft eyes blinked at me, the thick eyelashes casting a soft glow on her face.

I tried to shake my head clear of those thoughts and tried to focus on our breaths mingling together; the scene unfolding in front of me was so damn distracting.

My jaw slacked open slightly in shock because no, this wasn't supposed to happen again. Her sweet, enchanting smell of slick hit my nostrils, the exposed thigh pressed against the side of my leg. It was challenging for me to tear my eyes off how sultry and sexy Rose appeared under me in that silky robe, hair loose and falling over her shoulder, skin flushed, and mouth parted.

My cock twitched when my eyes trailed down, noticing her erect nipples straining against the thin fabric. She was naked underneath. Fuck. Without thinking, I pressed my nose in her smooth skin, taking a lungful of air.

"Tell me, who was it?"

"C-Caden"

A sudden flare of jealousy hit me as soon as the name sank into my bones. Caden. That fucker! No wonder he's late for the training. What was he doing with my mate?

Not yours! I tried to reprimand myself, keeping my cool even though my teeth grind together. My hand wound around her waist, thumbing at the sash holding her robe together. Subconsciously I was releasing pheromones, scenting my mate, so she didn't smell like him. Rose whined, her lips quivering as the omega breathed through her mouth.

"I thought I told you to stay away from him!"

"W-Why do you care, Alpha?" Rose slurred.

Something ticked me off at the question; a low growl escaping me before I slammed my lips against her.
