Chapter 36: Chapter 36
I blinked at his words, unaffected and calm, barely letting them sink in. Why would he think that I have a gift? Growing up, my wolf was shamed, bullied and got a verbal lashing from our own Pack Alpha. They called me names. How do I know that he's not saying these things to make me feel better? Then again, Caden had no motive in lying to me or any obligation to make me feel at ease.
"Oh," I stammered, swiping my tongue across my bottom lip. "I don't know what to say...."
"You have done this before?"
"Multiple times. When my injuries healed sooner than others, they called me a freak of nature." My stomach plummeted as I thought back to those names, cringing as their words rang in my ears. Because of that, I didn't do the trick when others were present, scared of being shamed again. I still don't know what came over me to attempt it in front of Caden. Maybe it's a pain that shot through my entire leg.
"That's...I'm sorry."
"It's in the past" I shrugged.
"Is there anything else you can do?"
"Umm...I don't know" I let out a frustrated sigh, hands folding together. "I am sorry, but I cannot differentiate between what's so special about me from others."
All this while I believed I was the same as others, so it didn't make sense to me—the particular kind of abilities I had and didn't even know about.
"Its okay." The Alpha smiled understandingly, his eyes crinkling by sides. Under the sunlight, he looked almost boyish, lips curling around. "We can explore these some other day. I am a trainer for Alphas, but omegas have always fascinated me."
I bobbed my head, words stuck in the back of my throat. Caden was the first not to call me names for my abilities, and I felt like I could easily open up to him.
"You need to be careful about your abilities because not everyone has good intentions with your powers. Does anyone else know about this?"
I gaped at him. Why would anyone else know? My family barely did, and I found out minutes ago that there was something different about me. Shaking my head, I met his stare. "I don't think so."
He hummed. "Well, let's keep it that way for now, mhm? The last thing you need is people breathing down for your abilities."
I twisted my lips, my thoughts racing to the Pack Alpha Aiden. What would he say about me? Probably find another reason to hate and call me names. Ria would also use that opportunity to make my life a living hell. I was barely managing to take my role as Luna of the pack, this piece of information could increase my load.
Caden had a point.
"You are right...I won't tell anyone."
"It's our secret then."

Caden didn't enter our cabin because he's an Alpha, waiting by the door as he handed me sleeping Fauna. He promised me that we would meet again sometime soon to discuss my abilities. But in secret. I agreed, bidding him goodbye with a heavy heart and walked back to the empty cabin.
The pup immediately snuggled in my neck, mumbling something. She must be tired from all the events that happened in a matter of few hours. My eyes immediately shifted towards the clock, and I noticed it's only three in the afternoon. It would be couple more hours before Liam comes back to take his niece. With a resigned sigh, I carried Fauna to my room and laid her on the bed, where she curled to the nearest pillow.
After slipping out of my dirty, bloodied clothes, I thought about taking a shower but then cancelled the idea. What if Fauna woke up during my shower? Instead I washed my face and wrapped a silky robe, an skimpy little thing my sister stuffed in my bag. It was something I would never dare to wear but it’s not like anyone was around to see me.
With that, I decided to make some snacks for Fauna in the meantime, when my eyes fell on the lunch I made for Aiden. The Alpha didn't come to the cabin since he left in the morning, so I assumed that my husband wouldn't be taking lunch. Earlier today, I made sticky rice and grilled some steak just the way he liked it. Medium rare and with lots of butter and dried herbs. Choosing to express my gratitude for him proved to be a little tricky.
Especially when it's someone like Aiden on the other side, picky and extremely unpredictable. He was hot and cold around me, which more than not took me by surprise.
I barely managed to take a bite of my lunch because my stomach was a bundle of nerves. Instead, I neatly tucked the dish in the fridge before walking out only to hear the jiggling sound of the door.
My legs stilled, cheeks going red as I realised it must be Aiden by the door. Why was I so nervous?

Carefully, I let out a breath as Aiden reacted on instinct, a frown settling on his features as he sniffed me. The tension between us was thick, almost static, as the Alpha let out a guttural sound.
"Why do you smell some Alpha on you?"
Aiden's voice was dangerously low, gravelly when he spoke, nearly a growl. Instincts were still getting the better of him, and I wasn't making it any easier by producing slick at the same time. My cheeks heated up, his anger turning on my omega as he cornered me against the nearest wall. I was overcome with the urge to demand why did he care. It'd be a stupid thing to say, and I was far from stupid.
I tried to come up with something to say that won't set the Alpha off. Aiden's leaning down against me, pinning me against the cold surface of the wall tighter. His free hand curled against the surface. I could easily slip away, but my body wanted me to yield.
The front door wasn't locked. Anyone could walk in and assume something entirely different than what's happening.
"Calm down," I gathered my wits to stare into his eyes. My body was bent over so far that the robe rode up my bare thighs, the silky material slightly bunched up at, exposing more of me. It's not enough to showcase anything intimate, only a few inches above my knees, but it made me want to squirm regardless. Remaining still was an exercise in restraint.
"I am calm," Aiden murmured, pressing the cold tip of his nose into the hollow of my neck. My skin prickled, goosebumps rising along my arms. Just for a second, I could swear that I could feel the faint press of Aiden's teeth there, threatening to leave a mark. What was he trying to do?
My entire body went liquid and molten at the thought, knees threatening to buckle underneath me. Oh, for the moon's sake! I had to find a way to extract myself from this situation before getting truly out of hand. I spared half a second to wonder if Aiden was going into a rut. That'd undoubtedly explain his current possessive behaviour.
"You're pinning me to the wall," I pointed out sharply, breath hitching in my throat. His material of trousers pressed against my silk robe aroused cock, hot and heavy against my stomach. I was stupid enough not to wear anything underneath my robe, so all it would take was one quick motion for Aiden to get that monstrous cock inside of me. It'd be so easy. A breathy whine escaped my throat as I imagined what that would feel.
"Tell me, who was it?"
"C-Caden"
