Chapter 79: Chapter 79
Slyvester’s POV
“Kyle~ I am so hungry~”
I walked toward Kyle, who was sitting in front of the dining table and reviewing for his upcoming exam. There was coffee next to him and papers that I avoided bumping into.
"Ah..." He replied as if incomplete. He looked at me with concern. He looked like he wanted to ask many things, yet he did not do it out of consideration.
‘He must have wanted to ask how Vincent and I are doing.’
Sighing, I smiled to show that I'm hella okay. "Dude, what? Is there food?"
When Kyle heard my jolly way of speaking, he sighed in relief. He pointed to the pot with his eyes. "There's soup in the pot."
"Soup?! Yey!" I quickly ran, and when I got to the opposite side of the stove, I lifted the lid of the pot. I lost my excitement after seeing that the soup had no broth. "Kyle? Why is there no broth in the soup?"
"Huh? Maybe the pasta sucked it all up. It took you a while to come down. That’s why.”
"Awww," I sighed. I'm still craving hot soup to sip. Anyway, when I walked to the right to get a bowl and spoon, Vincent arrived.
"Kyle, I have a headache. Do we have medicine for this?"
I halted upon hearing his voice. There was a pungent smell of alcohol around and because of this, I remembered the nightmare that happened last night.
"Eat first, Vincent. I cooked something there. Wait..." I heard the creaking sounds of the chair, indicating Kyle stood up to get the medicine. I can’t tell exactly what was happening because I had my back against them. “I stored medicine in my room. I’ll get it for you.”
Kyle moved farther and farther away until silence prevailed in the kitchen. Now, there was only Vincent and me.
Even though we talked a bit yesterday, it was still awkward for us to suddenly talk to each other after our fight.
Remaining silent, I moved back in front of the stove. I felt Vincent's gaze from the side but I tried to pretend ignorant. I opened the lid. When I was about to get food, Vincent broke the silence.
"What’s there to eat?"
His natural way of speaking gave me hope. Does that mean he's trying to make things better between us?
"C-Carbonara," I answered. Like a fool, I couldn't look back.
"Carbonara?" He repeated. Carbonara is Vincent's favorite. Immediately, he displayed eagerness as he took a plate and a fork.
Suppressing the laughter that might escape from my mouth, I waited for him to come to my side. Once he set his eyes on the food inside the cauldron, his pupils shook. He frowned and then glared at me. "When did soup become carbonara?"
"When the pasta sucks up all the soup?” I said in a serious tone.
"Continue your nonsense."
"...Carbonara has milk(?)"
A few seconds passed. We just stared at each other while I was still holding the lid of the pot. Later, I was surprised by what happened next.
"Bastard," Vincent cursed with a small laugh. He hit me lightly. Actually, it hurt a bit because he used the plate to hit my head. Nevertheless, it's a good sign for both of us.
"How can this be?" Kyle murmured. Vincent and I looked at Kyle who was currently walking down the stairs. It was a bit far but I noticed that he was holding a...USB? That's right. It's USB.
"Ryan brought the wrong one," Kyle continued.
“Brought what?” Vincent inquired.
"It was a while ago..." Kyle looked before continuing, "I saw Terban staying up late for a presentation. I think it's for his work. He left in a hurry earlier for this. But I saw a USB above the table. I thought he had left some important files, so I told Ryan. Ryan went on and was the one who offered to bring it. Then, when I went upstairs to get medicine, I saw a USB drop on the floor. So, I'm wondering if I made a mistake or something."
'So, Ryan went out to give his USB. Well, Terban is her childhood friend. Of all of us, Ryan is the closest one to Terban.'
"What does the USB you gave Ryan look like?" I asked.
Kyle rubbed his chin, as if he was trying to remember what he saw. "Oh!" He gasped. "Red and black. There's a Spiderman drawing on the cover."
Red and black With Spiderman? Wait...!
"That's Chaylen’s," Vincent shared and I nodded quickly.
"Really?" Kyle exhaled.
"Do you think someone like Terban would use a USB Spiderman design?" Vincent lowered the plate he was holding. Then he crossed his arms. "Well, it looks like he really enjoys being thrown into a spider's web."
"What to do? I made a mistake," Kyle worried. He bit his fingernails at the thought.
Spiderman USB. If I'm not mistaken, that's the USB where Chaylen watches rated 18 videos. Oh freaking sh..! If I tell this to Kyle, he will be even more nervous.
"Kyle! Send me the address of Terban’s workplace! I'll run there and give the right USB. I might catch up with Ryan."
"Run? Take a taxi, Slyvester," Kyle suggested.
Sometimes, Kyle is so stupid. But I just nodded my head.
Kyle walked towards us but froze abruptly. "Ahhh!" He winced. He gripped his knee as he moaned in pain.
"Dude, what happened?" I asked.
"I..." He murmured, groaning.
"What did you say?"
"My knee was electrified and I felt numb!" Kyle shouted in irritation. I know that feeling; the frustration when you suddenly felt numb.
With a smirk on his lips, Vincent approached him. "Where did you get numbed? Right or left?"
"On the right..." Kyle stopped. "On the left leg," he lied. He must have known that Vincent was planning to poke his electrified leg.
"Ahh, it's left," Vincent said devilishly while poking his right leg.
"Argh! Don't!" Kyle protested as if tickled and hurt.
Suddenly the power went out. The sun was still up in the sky, but we noticed right away because the electric fan went off and the light in the kitchen went off either.
"No electricity?" I uttered while looking up.
Then, Chaylen’s loud voice resonated. "Who?!"
We all looked at the stairs where Chaylen was going down.
He was pale and panting. "WHO WAS ELECTRICATED?! I CLOSED THE FUSE!" he reported.
I promised last night that when I saw Chaylen in the morning, I would hit his ass. Who wouldn't be angry after what he did last night?
While Ryan and I were talking outside the boarding house, Chaylen looked down from the rooftop. Then he threw up and rained me with his vomit!
Even now, even if I already took a bath, I feel dirty!
"Who got electrocuted?!" Chaylen asked again
But I think I let it pass this time.
"Wahahahaha!" I laughed so hard until I fell on the floor.
"Stupid fool," Vincen murmured.
"Thank you for your concern. But no one was electrocuted. Can you please turn the fuse back on? It's hot," Kyle suggested.
"Huh? Did I hear someone yell earlier that he was electrocuted?" Chaylen asked in surprise.
"When you get electrocuted, you scream: ‘Ahhhhhh!’ Have you ever seen an electrocuted person scream: I'm electrocuted!" Vincent said in an apathetic tone.
Even funnier, Vincent explained the scream with a robotic tone.
"Ahh, yes, no," Chayleb nodded. "But at least I'm sweet, right?" He did a handsome pose and winked.
Vincent rolled his eyes, murmuring, "Yuck."
These guys...
Looking at them while laughing, I remembered that we fell in love with the same girl. I just suddenly realized my selfishness. Because aside from wanting to get Ryan, I don't want to lose this friendship either.
If only that is possible.
