Hands on my back and eyes on mine, Chaylen was dancing with me along with the romantic music. His black hair was brushed up. He’s wearing a white suit partnered with a Rolex watch and a silver piercing on his ear.

“Ryan. Are you planning to send me to the hospital?” asked Chaylen after I stepped on his foot for the seventeenth time.

“I didn’t ask you to dance with me, did I?” I responded.

Chaylen could only chuckle while enduring the pain in his foot.

Things were really awkward between us after the school festival. But I guess dancing like this and stepping on his foot helped a little to loosen the strained atmosphere.

I kept my eyes downward to make sure that Chaylen would not end up in the hospital with incomplete toes. And as I focused on my steps, Chaylen spoke.

“When I tried to flirt with you at first…”

I lifted my head to look at him.

“You told me that you would kick my d*ck. But when another man flirted with you, you didn’t give the same reaction. That was so unfair.”

I replied, “Your approached is ruder than his.”

He shrugged his shoulder, agreeing, “Well, if you say so.”

“What are you doing here, by the way?” I asked. “You suddenly appeared like a mushroom.”

“I am more surprised to see you h…ahh!”

Shoot! I stepped on his foot again.

"S-Sorry," I apologized with a smile.

Chaylen stopped dancing. He put both of his hands on my shoulder and took a deep breath.

“You know, if only you don’t have feelings for Slyvester, I might believe that we are really destined to each other.”

I did not expect to hear that, so instead of responding, I stayed wordless while staring back at him.

“You always appeared at times I did not expect,” he whispered with his guttural voice. “Anyway…”

He turned me around with one hand. I lost my balance and yet, Chaylen caught my waist. Right in front of me, his face was only inches away.

“You are so beautiful tonight, Ryan,” he said with a smile.

A Casanova like Chaylen used to give compliments to women here and there. However, there was sincerity in his voice when he called me beautiful.

‘Chaylen changed.’

The music stopped and the surroundings brightened when I stood up. As I was about to pull my hand out of his grip, a familiar man went to our side.

It did not take me long to recognize that it was Chaylen’s father, Mr. Gilbhey.

Chaylen’s expression stiffened at his appearance and his hand around my wrist tightened.

“You came,” Mr. Gilbhey said before his eyes went to me. “And you too, Miss.”

I had no idea how to greet someone whom Chaylen hates, so I only nodded my head.

“I came here to eat. Don’t worry. I won’t make a mess in your party,” Chaylen said to his Father. “Come on, Ryan.”

Chaylen was about to pull me away, but…

“At tonight’s event, I will introduce you as my son.”

Chaylen stopped escaping when he heard his Father’s announcement.

The guests of the party looked toward our side, and we quickly became the center of attraction. Of course, we will be after Mr. Gilbhey, a billionaire, announced a piece of very crucial information to the public.

Worried about Chaylen, I looked at him and his reaction.

Chaylen only looked back at his Father and replied, “This is really entertaining.”

He scoffed a laugh and took me out of the hall.

We arrived outside and sat on a bench. I didn’t know how much time passed by, but Chaylen remained quiet. After some time, the quiet guy finally spoke.

“Am I weird?” he asked.

I peeked at him and responded, “Did you find that out just now?”

Chaylen chuckled before he said, “No. I knew this from the start. I wanted to avoid my father because I hate him. But at the same time, I always went to places and parties to see him. In the end, I would walk out.”

I decided to stay quiet after hearing his thoughts.

“Ryan.”

“Hmmm?”

“Why Slyvester?”

I was befuddled that the topic suddenly went into this. How will I answer his question?

After thinking for a while, I thought of a way to answer it.

“Why me?” I tossed the question back to him.

“…”

This time, Chaylen could not answer.

“If only you fell in love with a woman who can love you back, then I would not fell as guilty as now,” I added.

Chaylen’s eyes subsided as he responded, “I thought I would regret it, really. I was afraid of falling in love because I imagined how painful it would be if the other person would not reciprocate it. But…” He looked straight into my eyes as he continued, “Weirdly, I didn’t regret falling in love with you.”

Chaylen pointed his chest.

“I got hurt for the first time. I got so jealous for the first time. I cried for a woman for the first time. But I did not regret it. Then, it hit me. I realized that my life wasn’t garbage at all. Loving you made me love myself too.”

I felt the squeezing ache in my chest as I listened to him. Because I knew that even if his love was genuine, I could not pay it back.

“Thank you, Ryan.”

Nodding my head, I smiled at him.

“But hey, you should remember that it won’t be easy for me to unlove you. So, beware.”

Chuckling, I said, “Even if you don’t warn me, I will.”

“Wait a minute. I forgot to do something.”

Chaylen got his phone. He opened the camera and in an instant, he took a selfie with me!

“What did you do?” I asked.

“I will send this to the four men and make them jealous~”

When I peeked at his phone, he had already sent the picture on their group chat. Wait! They have a group chat?!

“You guys have a group chat?”

“Yup! Terban and Vincent always left the group. But I always added them to annoy them. Maybe next time, they will block me.”

This reminded me of their friendship. At first, I really thought they would never be friends. It was annoying that I let it go to the point that all of them would like me.

“Ryan, can’t I have a kiss?” Chaylen suddenly demanded.

“What the hell?”

“In movies, there was always a goodbye kiss. Give me one.”

Chaylen kissed me. He did not kiss me on my lips but he kissed the corner of my mouth which is very near to my lips!

“Be thankful. I stopped myself from kissing your lips,” he whispered while looking into my eyes in a close gap.

My blood boils and quickly I raised my hand to get a handful of his hair! But the bastard was too quick!

“Bleh~” He teased while showing his tongue.

Chaylen stood up and ran away from me.

“Just wait until I catch you!” I shouted before I stood up and chased after him.

Of course, I could not catch him at all. And so, I used my heels and threw them on his head. Chaylen almost lost consciousness and ended up in the hospital. Thankfully, I didn’t throw it hard and he was alive.

Chaylen was like that.

He kept on showing that he’s okay outside, just like right now.

But when we arrived back in the boarding house, I accidentally heard him crying inside his room.

"I'm sorry and thank you, Chaylen," I mouthed in front of his door.
