Chapter 69: Chapter 69
Chaylen rejected women.
Women don’t reject him.
That prideful man looked back at Ryan who confessed to him that she is in love with another man.
“It is too early to reject me. Don’t you think so?” Chaylen replied, forcing a smile on his lips. He was trying to be strong, even if his knees were wobbling and his world was crumbling.
Hands down, Ryan only stared at him.
“You knew that you are the first woman I fell in love with,” Chaylen said, licking the corner of his lips. He took a sharp breath before continuing, “Don’t reject me. Please. Give me more time.”
“There are a lot of women out there,” Ryan uttered. “Maybe, it just that I came at the time you need the m…”
“Sh*t,” he cursed. “If it is possible for me to fall in love with anyone, then why was I unable to change myself for years? I only became like this because of you, Ryan.”
“Did you like me because I changed you?”
“You’re not my rehabilitation center. You knew that my feelings were sincere. And besides, you and Slyvester aren’t dating yet. Are you?”
“W-Well. We aren’t a couple yet. But I don’t want to feel guilty hiding this. I must say the truth as early as possible.”
“Since when?”
“What?”
“When did you realize that you like Slyvester?”
“I… I am not sure yet. But…”
“Maybe you fall for Slyvester because of his kiss. Was he a good kisser? If that’s the case, maybe you’ll change your mind if I kiss you.”
He placed the tray down and held Ryan’s wrist.
“Chaylen.”
Chaylen tightened the clutch around her wrist, muttering “Try me. You’ll change your mind.” He then pulled her back to the storage room.
“Hey! W-Wait! Chaylen! Let me go!”
No use resisting. Chaylen was stronger than Ryan, and she had no choice but to follow him helplessly. She could ask for help, but she didn’t want them to create a ruckus in the school. She has too many rumors.
When they entered the storage room, Chaylen locked the door.
“What the hell are you… ahh!”
Ryan gasped when Chaylen pinned her against the door and locked her between his arms.
“Stop this, Chaylen. I am warning you,” Ryan threatened. “Or else, I’ll shout.”
“Shout. The moment you do, I’ll kiss you.” He cut the distance between their lips. A little movement would make their lips collide.
Thus, Ryan could not move. She could only feel his breath brushing on her lips, and her heart pounding inside her chest.
She wanted to push him away, but a part of her was stopping her from doing so.
“At first,” Ryan mumbled. “I thought you were only joking when you said that you like me.”
Chaylen pored into her eyes.
“Now, I know that you are sincere. I don’t want to hurt you, Chaylen. Because among us, you have the deepest wound.”
"I don't need that stupid pity," Chaylen said while gritting his teeth.
“I like Slyvester,” Ryan confessed which hurt Chaylen so badly. “I like him not because he needs me.”
“Are you saying that I only like you because I need you?” his throaty voice slipped from his mouth. There were tears in the corner of his eyes.
“I was with you at times you were vulnerable. You were comforted. But that is not love,” Ryan whispered.
Tears fell from his eyes. He placed his hands down and moved backward from Ryan.
“This is the first time I love a woman,” he sobbed. “Why does it feel that I don’t have the right to love? Why do you have to deny it that much? It’s so unfair.”
Then he walked out without drying his tears.
“And why does it have to be me?” Ryan blamed herself, crying.
It would be better if Ryan didn’t know Chaylen’s story. She can reject him easily. But she knows his past, and she broke a heart that was already broken.
Minutes passed.
Ryan walked out of the storage with swollen eyes. She only noticed that it was already dawn and the sun set to the West.
“You did great, Ryan,” she praised herself, slapping her cheeks as if to snap her senses out.
She decided to walk back to her department’s fruit stand. But she saw a familiar woman from afar.
The woman is pretty, tall, pale, and elegant. Men and women followed her track with their eyes. Even Ryan would admit that she has a face that can steal a maiden’s heart.
“Hi. We saw each other before.” the lady greeted Ryan, and it was only then Ryan noticed that the lady was already standing in front of her.
“Huh?” she stuttered. Looking at the gorgeous girl's face, Ryan recognized her.
‘She was Slyvester’s blind date partner!’ She shouted in her head.
“I am Giselle,” she presented. “You know Slyvester, right? I went there to visit him. I was walking around but I couldn’t see him at all. Do you know where I can find my Slyvester?”
‘My Slyvester? Did she just call Slyvester as hers?!’ Ryan repeatedly asked herself.
She crumpled her face, crossed her arms and raised her left brow.
“I know where to find him.” Ryan inhaled. ‘But I won’t tell you,’ she continued only in her head.
“Oh really, then, where is he?” Giselle kept on inquiring.
Ryan observed her from head to toe. She wanted to ask Giselle why she wanted to meet Slyvester. But she could not.
Smiling excessively, Ryan pointed in a direction.
“There,” she informed. “I think he’s selling Japanese pancakes with his classmates.”
Giselle giggled. She covered her mouth and laughed elegantly, which stole the people’s attention. Just smiling like that, she stole their hearts.
“Japanse pancake? Oh gosh. Slyvester probably looks cute while wearing an apron.”
“…”
“Thank you, Miss.” Giselle winked at Ryan before walking in the direction which Ryan told her.
When Giselle was gone, Ryan glared at her back.
“Why is that witch here? And she’s even looking for Slyvester.”
