Chapter 46: Chapter 46

It was still early evening.

Inside the boarding house, Terban was standing near the entrance of the boarding house. He was leaning on the door sill while checking his wristwatch from time to time.

Kyle was sitting on the couch while reading a thick book. But he wasn’t really paying attention to the biology book he was holding. It was only an accessory.

On the other couch, Vincent and Chaylen were sitting next to each other. Vincent was holding a guitar, while Chaylen was listening to him.

When Vincent finished playing, Chaylen gave him two thumbs up.

“You play so well,” Chaylen praised Vincent for playing guitar. “Can you play ‘I can tell by your eyes that you’ve probably crying forever’?”

“Idiot. The right title is ‘I Don’t Wanna Talk About It’,” Vincent corrected.

Chaylen waved his hand and said, “Let’s not talk about the right title. As long as you get it. So, can you play it?” He even blinked his eyes, imitating a puppy.

Seeing his expression annoyed Vincent even more.

“I don’t want,” Vincent declined.

Chaylen cursed as he moved away from Vincent.

“You are really so grumpy and boring. Why are you like that when you don’t even have ovaries?” Chaylen complained.

“Men have ovaries,” Vincent said. “You don’t know that?”

Chaylen paused and looked up. For a moment, he almost believed Vincent.

When Vincent saw his expression, he said, “He’s really dumb.”

“Hey!” Chaylen shouted. “Fuck. I almost questioned my identity.”

Although Chaylen has an annoying character, he had to admit that Vincent is on another level.

After disturbing Vincent, Chaylen looked at Terban.

“And you. What’s the matter? Standing there like a guard. What are you waiting for?”

Terban shortly glanced at him and rolled his eyes.

“Ignore me and continue annoying the man beside you,” Terban replied as he crossed his arms, shook his head, and avoided his gaze.

Vincent stared at Terban. He observed him and then tossed a question. “Are you waiting for Ryan?”

Terban flinched. He swiftly looked back and met Vincent’s curious gaze.

When Vincent brought Ryan as the topic, Kyle stopped reading and put his book down. Chaylen narrowed his eyes at Terban. And Vincent put his guitar down and placed his feet above the center table.

Terban took a deep breath before answering Vincent’s question.“Why do you care if I am waiting for her?”

“These past few days, I noticed changes between you and Ryan,” Vincent sarcastically said.

“Now that you said it, I also noticed that,” Chaylen nodded his head as if to agree. “They don’t fight that much unlike before.”

Now that they said that, Kyle began to feel suspicious about that either.

Before answering the question, Terban clicked his tongue, and then he answered, “Ryan and I decided to become friends.”

It was a very simple answer. Terban hates to explain the long history between him and Ryan, that’s why.

“Oh my sh*t,” Chaylen gasped, covering his mouth.

Surprised too, Kyle used the book to cover his opening jaw.

Meanwhile, Vincent kept an apathetic expression on his face.

“Let’s say that you two decided to become friends. Then, are you waiting for her because you’re concerned?” Vincent continued to interrogate.

At the time, Sylvester was on his way down the stairs. He had heard a few from their conversation. And to hear more, he leaned closer while hiding.

“I care for Ryan, but you should not f*cking care,” Terban answered.

“Too late. I am also concerned about her. Since you hate staying up late at night, what about going back to your room? We will wait for her instead,” Vincent offered.

Terban pointed to Vincent with his middle finger, which wasn’t intentional. “Hey you.”

Chaylen saw the finger and said, “He was cursing you!”

It was then Terban noticed that he was using his middle finger. He quickly put it down and replaced I with his index finger.

“Be honest. Do you like Ryan?” Terban asked Vincent.

Chaylen suddenly didn’t like how the conversation went. Even Kyle felt off guard as he widened his eyes at his friend, Vincent.

Sylvester kept his blank expression while listening.

As for Vincent, he answered Terban with a calm smile.

Lifting his chin, as if he was about to say something that he'll be proud of, Vincent bravely answered, "Yup, I like her."

Kyle’s jaw dropped. As he stuttered, “V-Vincent.”

“You like Ryan? For real dude?” Chaylen asked too.

But Terban responded, “I knew it.” He laughed sarcastically and said, “I guessed it right. That’s why you kept on butting into our business.”

“Your business?” Vincent asked, sneering. “You and Ryan aren’t in a relationship.”

“Sorry not sorry,” Terban uttered, “but Ryan and I are childhood friends. I am her first love.”

Everyone was surprised, except Sylvester.

“Do you like Ryan too?!” Chaylen asked Terban. He leaned on the sofa and pulled his hair. “And you were childhood friends. That was f*cking bad.”

Kyle stood up and threw his book. “I COULDN’T BELIEVE THAT I HAVE COMPETITORS INSIDE THE BOARDING HOUSE!”

As Kyle stole the spotlight, everyone looked at him.

“Damn. You too?” Chaylen asked Kyle.

Kyle blushed as he bit his lower lip. That very act shows Kyle’s answer.

“So, I have four three competitors,” Chaylen whispered. This time, they all stared at Chaylen. Chaylen answered their stares with a loud, “YUP. ME TOO. THERE’S NO RULE THAT SAYS THAT I CANNOT LIKE HER TOO. RIGHT?”

They haven’t calmed down after knowing that the four of them like Ryan. And then, they saw Sylvester running towards the door.

“Where are you going, Slyv?!” Kyle asked.

Sylvester stopped for a moment and turned around.

“I will go and fetch Ryan. I figured out that I have too many competitors. So, I will fetch her to gain score points. Bye~”

Sylvester dashed out of the boarding house.

There was a gnawing silence settled.

Seconds later, they all realized one thing:

THE FIVE OF THEM FELL IN LOVE WITH THE SAME WOMAN.
